Can I asked what you used to film this? The video is so smooth. I"m trying to figure out how to get my running videos that smooth. Did you use something like a DJI Osmo?
Really like her personality, she's straightforward and interesting, and can definitely run.
I always find it amazing that people run without water, I’m a god damn water park when I run. I’d have a mobile sprinkler system on my head if I could.
And if I try to grab a water during a race, I just end up spilling half of it, then choking on the rest as I try to not break stride. :)
Why did I get a mental picture of that? LOL
Michael Jamieson same here. I don’t get it. I’m carrying 4 bottles of water during my 100k.
I mean if it’s just a shorter training run and the weather is cool enough water isn’t really needed. Of course everyone’s preference is different. In the winter I pretty much never bring water on my runs, even long runs, assuming I’ve hydrated well earlier. The only time I bring water is if it’s hotter than 70 and I’m going further than 6 miles or anything above 10k feet in elevation.
Lol, I live in Florida so I’m sweating as soon as I exit my door and I always have my bottle with me it sucks really does but Walmart has hand grip water bottles idk how to describe it other than a small bottle with a sleeve and you can compress the bottle so it doesn’t slosh around
I thought my four to five miles on park trails was great training until I visited Boulder, Colorado. Their trail running community is seriously tops, no one is overweight and people love running.
"I dont have the energy to decide." And just keep doing it. Love it
Training for my first marathon at 52 thank you Abby for the inspiration!!
Jill Sorbera, how is your training going?
Yeah any updates?
It was harsh!! lol 6:52 haha! But that was 5/2018 and now doing the CIM 12/2019 with a lot more training and trail half marathons under my belt so hopefully will be much better!!! Thanks!! (54 in 2 weeks!! )
@@jillsorbera7247 Well done.
Jill Sorbera : I’m 55 and this trail running thing is starting to get into my blood... I hope it doesn’t kill me before I can run a marathon. lol
Boulder Trail Runners are the best - that's where I got my start into Ultrarunning too! Sanitas was just a kilometer from where I grew up. Happy trails Abby!
This is awesome! Thanks for putting this together and sharing!
thank God you don't "need" your wrist to run! Great episode guys! You are a very inspiring woman Abby!😃👊💜
watching these kinds of videos always makes me want to try trail running.
I miss Colorado from time to time, but I love living by the ocean and still having trails to hike on though nothing like going into the Rockies.
Must be nice to live in a running community(i hear about Colorado's running community all the time) where everyone embraces it. I live in some backwoods of NC and whenever i go running people look at me like im crazy, its really anxiety inducing.
Never let anyone keep you from running! ** Here's a secret, all runners are a little crazy!**
You will get over it. I started running in war-torn Bosnia and never stopped.
10 marathons and counting. GOOD LUCK!
I just moved from NC. What part are you in. There are some good communities for running in NC.
And Boulder has Gregory Alan Isakov 👌
Greenville sc is pretty good running you should try growing up in Oklahoma we only had baseball for a sport
A proud runner here!
What I love about running is that everyone loves me specially when I meet them along the way.
Wow...I lived in Denver for a couple of years.Used to hang out in Boulder all the time...The sweetest place ever!
No one gives a shit
This is such a great video/interview! Do more like this!
Noted!
Enjoyed this interview type video. Great job.
Superb!! Inspiring.. Especially the bit with the broken wrist.. man.. that trail.. plus broken stuff.. stuff of steel!!
You go girl, so inspiring! I went through the same things with thinking taking so much time to hike, or workout is selfish.
I love the creek crossing. Beautiful scenery
nice video. i've never run trails but i'm inspired to start. thanks
I like the format!
great video! thanks
Her videos are always the best
little squirrel in the background coming to say hi at 6:11 :)
Not only finishing, but winning the race with a broken wrist. I didn’t know Chuck Norris had a daughter : ) Very impressive!
"It's all short and fast, like 10 or 11 miles for the whole workout" 6:10
Ok...
I'd feel like a superhero after running 10 miles!
Just build up slowly, and before you know it, it will be easy.
well once you start gradually increasing your long runs to 20-22 miles a 10 miles seems really really short
Take your time and be consistent and you can easily run 10 milers at least once a week.
This thread reminds me of cliches like "you just don't want it bad enough" and "that team came to play today."
I've been running off and on for a few years. The longest I'm fairly certain I've run without stopping is about 6-7 miles at the beginning of a half marathon. I guess I just don't want it bad enough and don't show up to play. :)
@@AJHart-eg1ys well, you're old so it'll be harder for you than guys and gals in their 20s.
The more you know...
Awesome woman! Very inspiring! Keep up the good work ❤🤟
Sasha Dee shut up Dwyer
Thanks for the vid!!
Whoever did the camerawork for this did a great job!
lucky people running up the mountains in Colorado !
I've been to Boulder, such a beautiful place. I need to find good trail running places here in the North East
More of this please.
This is sick Kirk!
Cody Sunkel thanks man
Respect!
Also to the cinematographer, as the did the trails backwards...
Suburp212 you know they have gyroscopes they can carry around too
Gotta get up to get down, love it
Whoever flimed this must have been very good, going down trails and filming at the same time, sometimes backwards!
Loppy2345 bikes are very useful!
I'm impressed how smooth it is at times! Like when going down those stairs.
Sometimes i thought it's filmed from a bike, or a drone
Definitely a gimble, maybe with auto tracking. Great work.
But someone running (to keep up) with a gimbal I'd expect more up/down bouncing
Being from Peterborough NH, it totally caught be off guard to hear that Abby is from Dublin NH (the next town over, with each town comprising ~15 people) So cool.
This is Brilliant.
What a cool person, awesome speeds too!!
Great vid, thanks
Great vid. And 15:53 5000PR to boot. Dayum.
I pace myself. By pacing myself and not worrying about time..I don't get tired. Saving energy is important because you can and will get lost a few times. A two hour trail run can turn into a three hour run just by getting lost.
True Inspiration!
Winning while breaking your wrist? Is it possible to learn such mental fortitude? Truly amazing.
What a sweet person. You rock Abby!
I like the "no problem" from Jacques Houot!
I'm starting to do ultra's thinking of checking out the Swoop myself when I start my trail running. doing a dirty 30 next year!
Respect.
Fit.
Run.
Healthy.
Amazing woman!!
inspirational video, going to go on a 'run' (jogging) for a few miles now.. never ran more than three miles, but really interested in going much much further (marathon)
Nice video. You seem like a chilled young lady.
Your training partner Abby has an enviable running gait.... v efficient.
A man and woman ran past me on a trail about 5years ago... all I could think of at the time was “You two are psycho crazy”. Now I’m running trails every weekend.. I guess I joined the ranks of those that have totally ‘lost it’. Haha
Very cool
Thank you for sharing Your Adventures and micro bio. And the “Dirty 30” impressive and Amazing 😉 fun stuff 👍xoxo Way to finish strong and injured 🤕 my best to heal quickly 🦋
I’ve done this trail!!
Yeah, Dublin is tiny, when driving if you blink you miss it!
Great video, and excellent job keeping up with her on the technical trails! Abby you're a beast!! Awesome! I coach running form, and if I may, can I offer a suggestion? Ditch the traditional running shoes, they are holding you back. They're also really sketchy on trails. Here's what I'm seeing: You have this nice stride, but you're chopping it because the "platform" nature of traditional running shoes is keeping you from getting enough pronation, and from allowing your heel to drop all the way to the ground. That's creating sort of a tippy-toe prance in your stride, instead of a smoother, and slightly longer stride, that would land mid-foot, very naturally, and allow good recoil from the calf muscles. That "prance" is affecting your shoulder position and arms. And when you take "platform" style shoes (by platform, I mean; they have this thick, wide bottom, so it's like you're running with a thick wood plank under each foot) onto rocky trails, the result is twisting/rolling the ankles, loss of foot control and traction, and sometimes even falls. Fall on a trail, and you're almost guaranteed to get hurt. That "platform" shape doesn't allow the feet to do their natural pronation, and it keeps them from "mapping" the surface of the terrain you're on, adapting to it faster than you can think about it, and it makes for a real sketchy run. So may I suggest you ditch the traditional running shoe design, from any manufacturer. Shoes are not a religion, they are a tool. Pick the shoe that's the correct tool, that allows you to run with "correct" human running form and sufficient protection for both the terrain you're running, and speed you're running. What I'd suggest is that you make Vibram FiveFingers your go too, unless trail conditions contain so many little "nugget" like pebbles that you're getting poked in the bottoms of your feet too much. The other shoes to add to your cadre would be the New Balance Minimus (awesome trail and racing shoe) and the New Balance MT101. You may also like shoes from the Merrill Trail Glove line-up. The old Lythe's were very cool, and just like the other's I've mentioned, eBay is your friend. Wish you lived closer so we could meet up and go for a little demo run. I think you'd love getting out of those tradition shoes. If you'd like to exchange a couple emails, add "cs.com" to my youtube name. If you decide to switch, wear the FiveFingers as your daily "sneakers" as much/often as you can, in order to get used to them and allow all the tendons and little muscles to start being used safely. You already have the correct running form and strength for them, so you could actually go for some runs in them, but don't start hammering out real mileage for a few months. You'll absolutely love them on trails, especially. There's just something about allowing the feet to do what they're really supposed to do, that makes trail running in the FF's fantastic. Feet are really like hands, in that they are tactile, and they actually want (need) to be grabbing the ground. It's really cool. Good luck in your upcoming training and racing. Love your attitude, and you're a fantastic role model.
Looks like a great place to trail run!
what a champion
Hello miss Abby ur a motivation too me thank u ur an amazing runner 🏃♀️🤟🔥🙏❤️
if you're curious about what races are out there in this range, google "western states qualifier"s you'd be amazed at the number of annual events around the globe in around the 100k to 100m range; (even if you're not trying to go to western anytime soon) there's like 160 or so events!!
So nice to hear someone just having fun. May I ask the brand of belt she was wearing. Seems to pack alot of stuff.
Not sure! May be ultimate direction?
the brand is "naked"
Those trails! So runnable 👌😅
I would love to run through the mountains😊
You are so cool Abby! Those swoop are called switch backs or zig-zags or virage en épingles. You are the tallest short girl I have seen. You fit so well in the trail running community which is very competitive but this is a secret so keep it to yourself. 🤪🤪🤪thank you for sharing. ❤️❤️
Kindergarten story had me laughing. Its not just New Hampshire, Delaware too!
do you do any type of resistance training? a lot of runners say that doing resistance training has helped their run times quite a bit.
I wish I lived in Colorado
Running isn't particularly exciting or extreme but the cool thing about running is that it allows you to explore nature and engage with rugged terrain in a beautiful and engaging way that makes you feel alive and provides stunning scenery along the way. You get to see and be in the outdoors in a way that you otherwise couldn't do if your cardio was not up to par. Strength training is amazing and has so many benefits, but running opens up the world in a very unique way that's hard to compete with.
For exciting and extreme, check out "skyrunning". It's long races combined with mountaineering. The videos are INSANE, definitely a bucket list for me!
Excellent job Abby🦋👣👍
In backpacking, going uphill is given the courtesy of the right away, doesn’t appear the same courtesy exist with trail running??
Go Abby!
I love her....really love her
very cool
Nice video, what watch are u using? Thanks.
What did you use to shoot this?!? Very stable shots on the trails. Nicely Done!
Osmo!
Awesome! I should have known. Did you need to stabilize in post? I'll be shooting some similar stuff soon and hoping to pull this off. Must have been fun running at that pace and shooting at the same time
Awesome! Good luck! I pretty rarely used any warp stabilizing in this production. Yeah the Osmo is a fun tool to be able to actually go on runs with these folks and not need to like set up shots and stop the actual run :)
"It's all short and fast..." "Like 10-11 miles."
i live in boulder!
Lydia Jimmerson I live on mars
Inspiring video. Question: how are you filming the runs, especially on the trails?
Using the Osmo mobile camera!
but what is it attached to? How are you following them? :)
Hey Tonya! Glad you liked the video. I'm Kirk, the video Producer. I shot the running footage on a DJI Osmo and I'm a runner, so I'm lucky enough to be able to run and film studs like Abby!
really impressed! It's so smooth!
damn 7:05 is killing it!
what a boss!
You and my daughter are so similar except she hasn't gotten into running because she says she's clumsy. lol. Anyway, you remind me of her.
Running downhill feels like someone is hitting my knees with hammers
Downhill running isn't as easy as it's made out to be. It takes practice and working on technique. Here's a video to get you started:
czcams.com/video/5qqBsYw7f8w/video.html
haha
Like you owe that hill money
Then don't RUN down the Hill.
You most likely forgot to lock out your knees while twisting you ankles and back violently in opposite directions.
EDIT, My god it was a joke, please don't do that.
congratdulations
Interesting to compare the running forms, her training partner's form is very natural while Abby looks to almost be leaning a bit backwards, or at least throwing her legs quite far forward during her stride (I'm not a running coach though!)
Omg I am addicted to kitchen too!
Honestly youtube is my best freind and motivation.
Lol life as an introvert
Workign full time, writing a thesis, AND training regularly? Fair play.
Whats the Name or the Band of the Song/the Melody at the Last Minuite??? Sounds so Relaxing!
I also like the 7:00 one
Damn continuing to run with a busted wrist... I need to HTFU!!!
Abby, what trail running shoes do you wear/recommend? I dream of running an ultra but have struggled with plantar fasciitis on and off in the past couple years.
Hoka one one speedgoat 2, 3 or 4 are amazing
hi ya love your vlogs can you help what miles do you need to do for a ultra runner im a marathon runner but would love to do ultra
Jason cooper The shortest distance I believe is 35 miles, but the most common are the 50 and 100.
What a boss
what shoes is she wearing to run need a new pair
guys I would apreciate if you could include how many metters and kilometers they are running... thanks in advance!
noted for future vids!
lovely running your
What watch is Abby using? I'm looking at upgrading from my Gear Pro3
I think the Garmin 235, I use it and it's great. HR, pace, GPS, water resistant.
❤❤❤
Which UA model is she wearing?
6:09 look what's behind lol so cute
You're a beast Abby
Geez. What a badass
We agree!
