I like how the bow hero unironically tries to explain "the secret to getting stronger" to the guy that surpassed him despite being a lower lvl.

@@RadioJet2 In the web novel, Itsuki also accuses Naofumi of "meeting God" and being a "Demon Lord". It just comes off as him bullshitting excuses for why the latter is so strong for having a "weak class".

What I've learned from this conversation:
Sword Hero's played every Dragon Quest game (main series at least).
Spear Hero loves Kingdom Hearts 3 to death,
Bow Hero's a Tales of Series fan,
And the Shield Hero's been playing Fallout meets Dark Souls without respawn for the first time.
Funny, that.
Dragon Quest XI had the plot of you being accused of crimes you didn't commit that turned the world against you right out the gate, just like Naofumi.
Sora would be the one most advocating of teamwork and cooperation (and I don't think he'd be nearly as gullible as Speary, to be honest)
And the Tales series... WEll, I'm pretty sure even Abyss' cast would be a better set of team players than them. Hell, Beseria, the most recent game, ALSO HAD THE PROTAGONIST DEMONIZED BY A PERSON WHO PEOPLE BELIEVED WAS GOOD AND EVERYONE BOUGHT IT HOOK, LINE, AND SINKER.
@@LordTyph Sora doesn't even belong in the same league as the Spear Hero.
Sora might not be the smartest protagonist, but he's a goofball that gets things done and cares about his friends while driving them to help him. He's helped so many characters overcome their problems through all the games despite being some innocent kid who lived on an island for most of his life.
The Spear Hero's just some dumb asshole that got suckered in by some lying thot and can't own up to his own mistakes.

But yeah, you'd think that all three of them, who've played games encouraging party members to be team players, would be more understanding of their flaws. Naofumi's probably never played that many video games compared to the other three heroes, and he's already farther than the others could ever be in Dark Souls.
@@okaten3522 It's more than that. These games, as I've shonw, have examples of people being accused of horrible crimes they've never done and suffering for them. Kingdom Hearts is the only exception out of the three and even then, it shows a lot of people redeeming themselves after falling to evil (especially in the case of Riku). These people should, at the very least, try to treat him with some amount of courtesy given what he's gone through.
The Luminary would ook at them with dissapointment and more than a little disgust
Sora would probably be brought low for a bit over their sheer stubborness and unwillingness to work together.
Velvet... I haven't played Beseria so take my words with a grain of salt but I think that, at least, she'd be disgusted with how these three are acting and chewing them out. At absolute worst... she might destroy part of the castle giving them a brutal reality check. And everyone would cheer.
So basically sword hero uses dragon quest synthesizing, spear hero uses KH3 weapon upgrading and bow hero uses Tales of Series weapon rarity.
And all of them can be unlocked.
I swear my brain plays out a variation of this argument whenever I attempt to play a Bethesda RPG.
I find it amusing as well that neither of the three believe the others over how their powers work, when clearly each of them are unique.
Thank you for elaborating on that. As somebody who hasnât played any of those games it is very helpful to know that there are real life examples.
I'm confused on the rarity system. Can you upgrade an existing item to a new rarity level, or do you unlock increasing rarity items over time like borderlands?

The item levels and stats are way more important than weapon rarity.
You missed out on the most important part here. All 3 of them don't even have the other's system. Except for the bow there is no weapon rarity yet. Same with upgrade skills or raw stats. Since it's based on the MMO's they know it's only what they know. Naofumi eventually figures out how to put in all 3 systems with his own system.

@@chadleach6009 no. They all have cursed weapons I believe. They just haven't unlocked them. Naofumi never really played any of those games on his world so he doesn't have a system of his own
@@chadleach6009 no, but thats for later in the series. Naofumi doesnt have an MMO he plays, and thus really doesnt have a "system" per say. He just looks around and finds stuff in the world, while these guys think they already know the world around them

For anyone who's wondering how the 3 Stooges can still treat everything like a game and not take it seriously, I think this scene gives a bit of an answer for that. While Naofumi has been doing everything by hand, the other 3 have been using stuff like auto-crafting and fast-travel, things that are staples of most RPGs. They see the world as a game because their weapons let them PLAY IT AS A GAME.
yes. Naofumi is the only one who treats it like reality, even more so because he was dealt a crappy hand from the jump. One of the themes that I love in this series is how Noafumi's unfortunate and unjustified circumstances actually made him stronger, because it forced him to do things the hard way.

Naofumi, Melty, and the Queen: you have got to be kidding me
Weapon rarity detmines the cap of it's stats, stats determine the weapon's performance, and proficiency usually adds stat boosts or unlocks hidden skills.
They're all using one leg if the tripod and they wonder why Naofumi is stronger than all of them combined.
I don't know who I feel bad for more:
1) Naofumi, who just got cleared of a dozen false charges and is clearly the victim of months worth of non-stop sabotage AND STILL is being treated like a leper by these morons. He is the only one with any right to tell someone at the table to go screw themselves (which he kinda does at the end), but he tries to be keep his promise and play nice.
2) Melty and the Queen, who are making it perfectly clear how important it is that the 4 Heroes work together and are seeing the hopes they've had to pin on them quickly fall flat.
Might as well be both of them, all like "sigh" and facepalm at the end.

@@jameswest6232 I right now would say Naofumi has the worst of luck so far, but then Melty was almost killed by the people of her own country, and Mirelia had to go out of her way to do damage control after what Aultcray and Three Heroes Church pulled. To make matters worst, that likely resulted in the other countries summoning other heroes of their own with one of them being protected by Glass. Who knows what the other countries have for heroes sent from another world?
@@VanishEclipse4867 The other countries can't summon other Heroes (except maybe the Seven Star Heroes, but I'm really fuzzy about those). That's the reason why the Queen had to spend months putting out fires; her husband screwed over entire nations by allowing the summoning of all 4 to one countries.

Youâd think theyâd at least be reasonable and not be smug about how much Naofumi has been handicapped up to this point, especially when heâs been cleaning up their messes and is still managing to just about break even in terms of performance. If anything they should realise that even with all the handholding they wouldnât be able to do half the things Naofumi does

Yes, but you have to understand that these three are all pretty much scumbags and would have just been a trio of corpses if they hadn't gotten isekai'd to this world, so it's perfectly natural that they wouldn't care at all about Naofumi, even after the scandal was dealt with.
The Sword hero has never really seemed that bad just trying too hard to be cool. The Spear hero I don't believe is actually a bad person. It feels like he had this black and white idea of what a hero is supposed to be and from the jump he stuck to that to a frustrating degree (ie) automatically believing and protecting the damsel in distress. The Bow hero is the one that feels the most like an actually dick. He's so condescending and stubborn. He's way too narrow minded. The conclusion he comes to has to be the right one no matter what

It's still a game for them, in the manga they haven't still realised it's real life but as it progresses you can see a theme of them actually accepting the reality, however for now it's just these idiots.
Anyone else notice that the four heroe's armor colors bear semblance to Hogwart's four houses, and they each represent the worse qualities of said house
Motoyasu is red for Gryffindor. Comes off as brave and chivalrous, but is shown to be arrogant, stubborn, idiotic, and likes to flaunt
Ren is blue for Ravenclaw. While he was irresponsible on account of the dragon incident, he is shown to be capable of using his head as he deduced the Three Churches corruption. He is a lone wolf just like most
Itsuki would be yellow for Hufflepuff. Ironically, while he claims to fight for honor, justice, and fair play, he is merely trying to fuel his own ego
Naofumi is green for Slytherin. While he is not inherently "evil" as most, he is capable of using his cunning to get what he wants, whether it's through coercion or backhanded methods

Looking back, Naofumi could have easily called the 3 Stooges out on withholding info from *him* since day 1 when asked about his 'cheat shield'. It was pretty well established back in ep. 1 that Naofumi was the only one who had no knowledge going into the world and the other 3 told him absolutely nothing except that Shield Users were useless to play as.

I loved this chaotic scene.
It's a matter of world view, each weapon creates the systems that you need or believe exists.
For example the weapon copy system was only unlocked after Naofumi decided to trust the other heroes with that piece of info.
It may look like Naofumi is struggling to reach an accord with the heroes but he's making some real headway in the fact that he believed in them like that.
I bet he'll end up unlocking that Autocraft and quick travel later in the future.

ironically one reason that's why I don't like Naofumi, they literally had to make everyone else except for him and anyone else of his possy team retarded so his deeds can actually look decent.
Like I get it, he's suppose to be the most hero like. The Three Heroes: You don't even know basic things

This just shows how Naofumi got so much stronger. The other three heroes treat this world like a game or even as an RPG and aren't taking it too seriously. Naofumi on the other hand is fighting everyday like his life depends on it! The other three heroes have experience with games and also not to mention received immense support from the kingdom the whole time and even go to level up faster tooâ while Naofumi earned everything legitimately through hard work and difficult battles.
It's literally game mechanics that they're operating with....

The fight in the whole castle was a suprise and I genuinely enjoyed watching Raphtalia stand up for once.
The conversation wasn't that much of a suprise, I thought they could explain to him even a bit how to progress in this so-called game, but no they didn't.
As for the actual weapons, weapon rarity in games is measured by it's stats or potential stats, which means that the Spear and the Bow hero are kinda right, Ren is just an idiot, but then again they all are.
Well Ren isn't far off either, some games there is such a thing as crit chance and accuracy %.
Actually that's not true, in many video games (such as the Golden Sun series and some FF games), your weapon becomes stronger the more often the character uses it, since they unlock skills that are unique to that weapon.
It's much much rarer than for the other two cases, but it does happen.

So what I got from each of them is this, I shall put it in list format to better understand the different concepts they have that I have seen in MMORPGS.
Motoyasu: Equipment scanning/ ability copying from equipment of the same kind. By picking up and scanning said weapons, you can get info about them such as their stats, abilities, and rarity. By doing that, you can get certain buffs and stats increase to your own equipment and even increasing the rarity of all your weapons.
Ren: His is basically autocrafting, no need to explain any further.
Itsuki: It's basically Quick Travel. You unlock different areas into your world map and then you can just select that designated area to get to places easier. It's a total thing in Xenoblade Chronicles series.
All of these are concepts I knew about and worked with in the MMORPG I used to play, it actually took me a bit to figure out how to work those things though since I'm not exactly bright when it comes to new games.
I honestly wanted to know what Naofumi was gonna say about what he learned but darn it.
Also if I may be so bold, I believe equipment rarity, potency/proficiency, and refinement/ stats are all necessary to becoming stronger. I also learned that from the MMORPG I used to play btw.

Honestly though, all three sounded like they made sense. Itsuki's talk of weapon rarity isn't that far off. After all a legendary sword will be more powerful than any broadsword, but legendary swords are a rare find. Ren spoke of stats and proficiency with said weapon. Also makes sense, considering there are definitely games out there where having high strength or dexterity stats will give your weapon of choice a power boost (e.g. dark souls). Motoyasu said that refining a weapon makes it better. That's definitely true. High quality means a better weapon all day.
But don't let that distract you from the fact that they are a bunch of tools..
The 3 Cardinal Stooges still think this is some kind of game. And Motoyasu still wants to defend Bitch after she was proven to be a liar. BTW thank you, Naofumi for that.

Can we talk about how much easier naofumi's life would have been if he had all this stuff in the beginning? The dude's basically been carrying boulders on his back not knowing that there were free wheelbarrows nearby. With just the item crafting ability alone he would've saved a shit ton of time and effort making medicine for himself and raphtalia. He could produce them at a faster rate and spend that time either farming for more materials or doing literally anything else that was important like farming xp or even sleep. He could have even sold the extra materials for cash since he was pretty tight on funds when starting out. With the weapon copy system he could have had a shit ton of useful shields that would have been a massive help during the first wave and all the other shit that went down before and after that and Lord knows things would've gone way smoother if he had that teleportation shit. I'm surprised naofumi wasn't more pissed off because I would've been suppressing the urge to beat them all senseless. I know it's not really their fault but being out of the loop like that can be unbelievably frustrating
I agree with what your saying and I know Naofumi was probably thinking all that afterwards, however I think all the information they gave,l they got that from playing the MMORPG games in their worlds. Including their respective ways of getting stronger, i think those were the way they got stronger in the MMOâs they played.

Apperantly, their help screens change according to what they believe.
Naofumi had no access to that copy ability nor gave a shit about it, but once he started pondering about it and actually believed it just a little, the goddamn thing actually unlocked.
So I'm surethere's a ton more things that not only Naofumi but the others can do as well, it's just that the Three Cardinal Stooges have a too narrow view on how things work that they don't learn anything better.

Besides the three stooges freaking out for not agreeing with their explanations, what impresses me a lot in this scene is how STRONG Raphtalia is to deal with several people at once trying to attack her and NONE of them didn't even make a scratch on her, even more that knight that's so full of himself.

Even after repeatedly getting their asses kicked and saved by Naofumi and having their mistakes and misconceptions thrown in their faces over and over they still act all smug and superior.
With heads this thick and bull like perhaps if they headbutt Glass if she shows up again it'll actually do some damage.
I like that later Naofumi figures out that the argument was over nothing, because the three points weren't mutually exclusive.
But in the end doing everything by hand helped Naofumi be the strongest. Like an RPG where you can learn a Skill by "Reading a Book" (or a Spell by breaking a Crystal Ball like in the show), but if you learn it from the basics you will end up with "+1s, 2x, X, Y, Z" bonuses that could only be gotten by Mastering everything required.
Like how he is able to raise Raphtalia and Filo to be stronger than the other Heroes, because of several Mastered shields that boost them.
While the other three are like the average RPG player that once a better weapon shows up they toss the old one away without mastering its skill so it permanently remains active even when not equipped.
I love that this shows that the 3 weapon stooges forget that naofumi basically had no help and couldn't stop and ask for assistance so of course he wouldn't know of any of that, but i mean now that he does he's about to become super op lol
And we come back to the other issue our MC needs to fix: the other three 'heroes' are jerks

The other three were introduced to this world by RPGs, so they know about the game mechanics from those games. And as we find out just after this, the mechanics are whatever you believe/know about. But Naofumi didn't play any of those games; he read a book, so he didn't deal with any game mechanics.
Also, since Naofumi can now start using all three of the others' mechanics, he's going to get stronger than them. Again. Crafted high rarity weapons with high proficiency.

Technically all of them are right about what you should look for in a weapon.
A weapon is typically stronger depending on *rarity,* due to having *stronger stats* and you can make a weapon stronger by *refining* it which would cause a weapon to be more *proficient* and therefore better.
