I’ll never forget watching this series in total awe at the alien level skill pavel Datsyuk portrayed. My goodness I have never seen a more talented and perfect hockey player in my life. This series was so memorable. Pavel Datsyuk was unfair; there should be another league for him because this kind of talent exceeds the NHL. I love this dude

As good as Dats was, and as much as we all love him and his highlights, this was legitimately the time when he was arguably the best player in the world. Not for his fun dangles, not for his fancy moves, but for his ability to control and read a game, taking it to levels that no one else could. This was around the time Chara picked him first overall in the All Star game. Other players in the league understanding and recognising how good he was.

Agree! He had an ultra-modernized soviet hockey style. I can imagine a team that would refuse Ovechkin or even Malkin, but no one would refuse Datsyuk. And he's a great person off the ice too. Miss him so much!

Every time Datsyuk stepped on the ice he was always noticeable. And then every here and there he’d have a game where he was just absolutely dominate every shift he was out there. Whether he scored or not he was always contributing some way some how. I still think to this day people who didn’t watch wings game regularly or that much don’t understand how good Datsyuk was. He didn’t win all the awards but man he was damn good and super competitive. even players said back then he was the hardest player to play against.

that was the last wings team I truly felt had a legitimate chance to win the cup. we are far from contenders now. hopefully Holland can grow some balls and make some trades this summer
