I learned something new today. I was simply told that more clamps are better, not that each clamp provides a 45-degree angle of pressure. It makes complete sense and it no longer feels arbitrary! I love the actual woodworking videos. Teach us more complex techniques and methods!
Iâd love to see a âMatt tries to woodworkâ episode from all heâs learned from observing.
I bet he could
And have the always sunny theme at the beginning đ
This makes me want to see a series that focuses on how Wyrmwood employees got into Woodworking - start with the Coatello's, then Jason, then Crazy Ed.
You guys need at least one woodworking video like this every week.
Can I just say how amazing it is that the CEO of this company knows as much as any of his employees do about the job they are doing... That's hella impressive and I really love that.
It is sad that the impression we have of regular CEOs is, that they have no clue about the products their company creates.
@@vyse4907 Well that's cuz CEOs are bought and sold nowadays and it's never earned from within the company
I like watching Doug work. Many business leaders see themselves as "too good" to get their hands dirty. Awesome to see CEO Doug is a character and that actual person Doug still cares about his craft.
I love the woodworking episodes. It takes me back to my childhood, when I watched The New Yankee Workshop every Saturday morning.
Good ole Norm Abram
If there's one thing I learned from Norm, it's that you can never have enough biscuits and clamps. Doug has reinforced that lesson today.
@@JonTripp115 Also don't forget! There is no other more important safety rule... than to wear THESE... safety glasses...
The New Yankee Workshop has been uploading all the old episodes to CZcams, including some AI-enhanced HD upscales (some come out better than others). I've been re-watching a bunch of them. Norm is a hero.
I honestly love the woodworking episodes, it's a kind of craftsmanship I know almost nothing about, super interesting to learn about it!
Still asking for a Crazy Ed and Bennett collab â
Good luck
We'd probably need to move one of them
@@CRAZY-ED đ«š
I'm one of those weirdo woodworkers whose favorite thing is milling. Pulling the board off the out feed table and it's lightly suctioned because it's so flat. That's the good stuff there.
Holy cats - I learned so much from this episode! So not only has having a Wyrmwood table changed my life (I can now play long games with my wife without the cats or the kids messing them up during the day) but also I am using story sticks in my home projects and now I just found out I've been measuring like a nerd. Wow.
I always though Doug was just a nerd hanging out with the wood working guys, I didn't know he was a battle hardened veteran who lost part of his finger in battle.
I like seeing Doug doing something that is heavily skill based so well, reminds me of how much more chance and luck is involved in running a successful business and this dude is just a damn fine craftsman doing his best to handle the situations his company is dealt.
I love that Doug is doing the little things to keep himself safe, like moving the jointer fence so he exposes less of the cutter. A+ Dougie, A+.
Great episode! For all the jokes and joking around done on wyrmlife there is so much to learn from the experts. Yes, I called Doug an expert.
You canât do that. He reads these!
@@WyrmLyfe well Iâm also on team chocolate chip cookies and team prophecy sooâŠ. #dougiedabsandslaps
Please keep up the woodworking episodes. I love me some Wyrmlife but these episodes just hit different.
9:20 you can also just measure at a slight angle until you measure an easy to half number, then mark that at halfway, it'll still be in the center lengthwise even though you're not measuring straight
Putting the wood back in Wyrmwood
It can be a good idea to not evenly space your dominos. If they're evenly spaced, it's possible to flip one half of the piece and they'll still align. You don''t want that as your reference surfaces don't match any more. If you skew at least one of the dominoes off-centre (even by just a centimetre or two) you'll avoid mismatching when gluing.
To be fair, if they aren't centered in the depth of the board they can't be mismatched either
@@Tensen01 True, but if they're only slightly off the centre of the board (as they were here), you might not notice.
This is the aspect of Doug that I subscribed to Wyrmwood for. Good to see he's still around in this capacity at least some of the time.
Absolutely LOVING the woodworking episodes! And Dougâs doing a phenomenal job of explaining things. I watch a ton of woodworking videos and have for years, and I still came away from this with a new bit of knowledge! (clamping pressure radiating out at 45 degrees)
Having watched videos of luthiers crafting or repairing wooden instruments in the past, I always wondered why they used *_SOOOO many_* clamps on parts that were so small and thin. Overkill honestly didn't even seem like a strong enough term; like legitimately you sometimes couldn't see the part being glued and clamped for all the clamps covering it. But now taking what Doug said into account, as well as the fact that the wood they work with is not only very thin but also generally curved in multiple directions, it all starts to make sense.
Hats off to all woodworkers out there, but even more so to those who make instruments.
I learned way more about wood working in this one Short video then in all the multitude of woodworking videos Iâve ever watched. I had no idea about the clapping pressure being 45°.
To back Doug up on the reference surface point he made, woodworking actually gets harder and less precise the more you try to make exact measurements. If you use referencing like Doug did you are less likely to get variation in the final output. The final product in woodworking only needs to be square and true to itself.
Woodworker here. Dougie pretty much nailed it here. For anyone wondering why solid wood furniture is so expensive, look up how much a Festool Domino costs. And that's the cheapest tool used in this video (besides the tape measure).
I REALLY like these episodes where we get taught some wood working, keep them up!
Best kind of marketing / content. Having crazy ceo doug bring it back to earth with his wealth of woodworking knowledge is super entertaining and captivating. I love Dougie hes just a crazy person đđ
I started watching because of the wood work. The personality of the show took over and that is fine. But I still like the woodworking and, have to say, kinda miss it. So this is great! Pooz on!
Regular plain ol fact. The periodic letter for tungsten stands for Wolfram.
Sick
As a woodworker i've never been explained the 45° clamping pressure cone and it has been like something opening up in my mind
I inherited a 1960 Craftsman planer model 103-20660 that is a 6inch planer, from my grandfather. It's 4 single blades like Doug was discussing. The machine is so well made n can easily be worked on and repaired, I love ot
Straight knife jointers scared the hell out of me decades ago when I used them in high school woodshop.
Very much enjoyed this style of eppisode.
Abso-fkn-lutely love these deep dives on the craft.
Love learning woodworking from Doug
This is the Wyrmlife we've been waiting for! I love seeing Doug do woodwork.
A "Ted Talk" on wood glue use and clamping. Very Nice!
I really like their philosophy that everyone, even those working in administration, gets some time on the floor to learn the processes.
Awesome learning about all these aspects from a passionate person. Excellent video! (And the editing is on point with it's tone - great job!)
Love the woodworking with Douge segment. I appreciate that all the office folk work in the shop from time to time. ASLO: did not know about the 45 degree rule for glue ups.
Always been impressed with Wyrmwood woodworking. These videos are great.
Who is this tall, excitable woodworker? He looks just like Doug!
Love these kind of episodes!!!!
I love these woodworking episodes. Let's go team Looza!
I love "don't be a nerd" but bro is literally making high end tables for ttrpg players. Also cool to see more wood working content!
Love the deep dives into the different facets of woodworking â€
I enjoy the woodworking videos a lot!
Some seriously great info in here - I love this kind of video from you all! Thanks!
Fascinating stuff. Thanks.
It is sooo funny to me how similar Doug and Ian talk when they explain woodworking. They are brothers, so it makes sense, but man are they so much alike.
Love these videos as someone who is super slowly getting tools to do some woodworking.
This was useful and informative. Nice
For the legs on the signiture series. Do a core of padauk and then do 3 chamfers on the outside corners.
Love the wood episodes
Would love to see Doug and Bobby doing woodworking together again like in the old days.
Very informative and a fun watch. Nice save... and "Cone of Pressure"... sounds like an interesting spell in D&D.
More of these!
Doug would think Joey is the cool uncle
He said, "not the cool uncle".
I would love a home woodworking tutorial from Doug (and others). I feel I would learn more if he was saying stop being a nerd and use common sense!
Love the info on the climb cut and why I won't be using at home đ€ đ
Itâs fine. Just the tip.
Can we get a Poppa Pooz Woodworking Episode? Thatd be so Pooz!
Honestly, not heart broken to lose the extras and focus on woodworking! I am more interested in the company as a woodworking group and less of the extra stuff.
you guys should make video of someone building your table like aaron paul building the wooden box in breaking bad.
"a terminal case of the pooz" Imma have to stop you there.
Doug: Chides us for being nerds.
Also Doug: Fully Nerds out on woodworking science.
Hypocrisy thy name is Doug.
Love seeing the wood craftsmanship, but just wanted to point out, and I know it is nit picking, but Doug should have filled that extra cut out he did with a half biscuit.
My brain is whistling Dixie while listening to Dough talk about how to wood work. I would rather be poozing.
Wow, Dougâs actually smart
Watching this on my lunchbreak eating a sandwich and all I can hear is domino's and biscuits.....
we're going to have to clip doug at about 14:24 next time weed comes up
Good morning, Wyrmlings.
so how would one make their ideal desk, which is at a different height and a hatch that needs to be measured?
Smart dude
Today I learned that Doug is missing part of his finger
I like woodworking Doug better than office suit Doug.
Please tell me there's video of Broman and maybe even Troy doing this stuff; there's a real Abbott and Costello dynamic that could unfold with that.
yoooo bobby got that tungsten cube??
Can you do a wood working deep dive into MGT joinery + hardware?
You should edit this into a lesson video series as well
How to glue wood with Doug
Best show on CZcams
Letâs go!
That Makita track saw makes my Kreg crpss cut jig setup look so janky. I guess that is the difference between a $600 and a $100 + skill saw I got for a wedding present set up.
I wanna hear the full diceapalooza song
Just got an email that RPG trackers would be going away in 9 days. Any chance y'all can kick that cutoff/deadline out a few more weeks or maybe a month?
He likes to make fun of Nerds a lot. Doug, we are all Nerds for something and Doug you are a woodworking Nerd of the highest degree.
You live by The Pooze, you die by The Pooze.
Missed opportunity for a Gravity Falls theme riff instead of X Files.
Doug, show us some dovetail skills
Why aren't there biscuits between every separate plank in this piece since it is made up of several fairly thin strips? Is it normal to rely solely on glue between the flat mated surfaces. If I grab the assembled board by one end, the weight of the rest of it is putting all of the stress along 1 seam just beyond the support of my fingers (basically creating a lever) and it's held together only by glue on a fairly small cross section relative to the overall width of the assembled piece. Seems a little scary.
Properly applied glue is stronger than the wood. If you broke the finished board it would break in the wood, not along the glue seams.
@@Tom_a_youtube_commentor Didn't think wood glue was that strong, but if it is, thanks for the clarification. I ordered a table almost 3 months ago now and this is something that made me nervous about the toppers.
Does Doug do training for the woodworkers? I feel like he might be good for that.
Doctor, doctor, give me the news. I gotta bad case of terminal pooz...
It's episodes like this that make me wish you did captions on your videos. The auto captions don't catch everything and, due to the background noise, I can't catch everything the captions miss. đđđ
I wonder if saving the table was worth it when you compare the saved value to doughs labour costs. I mean, I am glad he did it. Resources should not be wasted and these economic comparisons are idiotic, but given the way dough usually seems to think, that table was probably a âlossâ
Will pooze for dice!
As much as I love watching classic WyrmLyfe hijinks, these old-school woodworking videos are some of favorite videos as of late.
Woot

man do a fade in or something on these loud episode starts
