This week, Jack and Ethan take the £2000 quarter million mile 2JZ powered GS300 to Supra and JZ legends SRD Tuning. We'll dyno the car to see how much power it makes, look under it to see if there's any holes in it, and finally take apart the engine to see what 250,000 miles does to a 2JZ, and find out if we got a good deal on a cheap car or not?

Just incase it's not said enough, Great to see Jack smashing the new presenting role. Keep bringing the amazing content guys!
It's so much more natural without Alex trying to cram in gags from Top Gear circa 2006.
@@IvanAtThe555 bit rude considering it was his presenting style that practically made car throttle
I agree. I think Jack is a much more natural presenter. Like Alex, but love Jack
@@jackharvey9808 Not for me. I don't dislike alex but he tries too hard to be funny all the time. Jack is great in the new role like he said it feels more natural and easy going, props to him for keeping the good content up
I'm just happy to not see scams getting peddled such as Established Titles and Kamimoto Knives like on another channel where viewers are sold out..
jack as the main presenter is pretty bang on. affable, funny, not over the top. excited to see more from him and ethan.
you guys definitely have to NAT this it would be the ultimate sleeper being so ruff on the outside. it would be a great build series to get ethan involved in.
Costs a fortune
@@skylinefan4420depends what u want to do to it, 450hp would be possible without putting too much into it but when u get up to 700hp then it would take a bit more expensive
Needs rods and pistons since it’s a VVTI motor😊
Loved the tool tip about NA-T with Ethan's face on it, like he's the techy guy just filling you in with the details, in case we missed it for not being technical enough! Perfect!
I had a 2001 gs300 and I must say it was one of my favorite cars aside the premium fuel and fluid costs. It was very reliable and super comfortable. If given an opportunity to own one again I would in a heartbeat.
Should have kept it then 😂😂
@@Rares07 not at California fuel prices and Insurance costs, it made more sense to keep my truck.
Imagine Jack upgraded this cars engine to 450 or 500hp then showed up to jaguar shootout between Alex, Richard and Mike.
I agree 👍
Be class
Please yes.
Yessssssssss
Got to say jack has certainly come out of his shell and definitely loving his humour too! Cracking video, would love to see a proper restoration on this car and a proper restoration for once rather than trashing a car as you do usually 😂😢
400hp manual swap should go a long way in that chasis
What kind of manual gearbox can be swapped on this?
@@daigosaito888 a lot of people use the 350z gearbox using s mounting kit , I think its the cheapest option
@@sergiopereira9546 maybe in US, in Europe is easier to find GS6-53DZ from E60 530d. mounting kit is necessary
@ 350z ain't that rare in the UK
@@sergiopereira9546 but definitely rarer than diesel 1/3/5 series with R6 (and thus cheaper)
I recently inherited a 130,000mile 04 GS300.
EVERYTHING works, apart from the bloody expensive American Hi-Fi 🙄
Still nice and relaxing to drive and I’m enjoying the change of pace.
Wearing winter tyres now and it’s unstoppable 😀
Well you'll get to put a cheap AliExpress android unit in and you've got yourself $100 carplay/aa
@@BanterEdits The amp in the boot is dead sadly. Lexus wanted £1700 for one. All the ones for sale seem to be previously fixed, very expensive or also knackered ☹️
Bluetooth speaker for me for a bit. New car arrives in Feb, so off to eBay after that. I’ll be sad to see it go though after 16years in the family.
@@DontPanicDear cant you buy an aftermarket amp, like from JL audio, kenwood.. etc? they usually are much cheaper than 1700
@@NineS5
Nope 👎🏻
It’s not just an ‘Amp’
It has a load of the tech built in and several multi-pin connections.
It sounded amazing when it worked too.
@@DontPanicDear ah I see. So you have to remove the OEM sound system and just buy aftermarket everything since it probably takes care of crossovers and other stuff. In that case its not worth it. Maybe a cheap factory amp will come up for sale.
Ethan and jack you guys are killing it, amazing video. Maybe try and get 1 or 2 more members on the team on and off and see if that works better ? cheers
Mental how high car prices are now, I thought I paid way too much (£3.5k) for my GS300 6 years ago, and it was super clean, single owner with 50k miles and FSH!
I'm canadian , I've imported and owned a 1992 toyota soarer gt-tt for 12years . Replaced 30 sets of back tires , 24 oil changes , 2 x4 corners brake pads , and a rear diff input shaft seal.
I've never been soft on it ! That was my 3rd/amusment car , I've let her get warm 100% and after it was full throttle/rpm/fullcut on co___ine, was really a good time in my life hahahaha
. What a engine ! I'm still in contact with the guy I've selled it , one day he will say yes
Love the GS300! Luxury RWD, smooth 2JZ engine, lots of potential for the chassis and engine
@@kristapssams well it is a LUXURY car wasn’t intended to be a sports car. You’re really slow in the head aren’t you
I won't lie when Alex left I thought this channel wouldn't last....but....Jack you make this even better without that little humunculus. Love the new take on everything and looking forward to some really great content. Keep smashing it lads
The views have dropped off massively and Alex out performs them with less subs
Awesome video once again guys!👍 Looking forward to more content with Jack amd Ethan😎
Ash knows his way around a 2JZ!🤓👌
Will be great with all the upgrade bits for 400bhp. Add a gearbox oil and gasket change and a nice stainless exhaust and you'll have a proper beast.
Thw blessing ive been looking for. I bought my 99 gs300 for 1k from a friend and rebuilt the bottom end (except pistons) myself. I started doing the NA-T build with the the manifold, piping, intercooler, turbo and tried to upgrade the intake manifold but i didn't do enough research on the ECTS-i. From what I hear is that its needed for the auto transmission to work properly so im working on fabricating that back on since a CD009 manual transmission swap is currently out of my budget
Jack as lead is great! Enjoying every video the blokes are making!!
Let’s goooo love to see channels doing GS/Aristo content! I bought my GS for 2k with 200k miles, exterior meh but interior is great! And now it’s got a FAT turbo on it ;)
Can’t wait to see more!!
Only thing I don't like is the price going up
@@bulleto8192 yeah I’ve been watching the market creep up and it’s been wild, I’m pretty sure I could sell mine built how it is for 10k easy. Idk what it is but turbo ones go for DUMB money
@@GrizzlyGarage its crazy what people will pay for 2jz cars now, im happy i bought my sc300 when i did
Happy christmas Car throttle
Nice to see Jack stepping up.
The best thing about Jack being the main presenter now is that he is fully, 100% genuine, no shouty nonsense.
agree, so much more relatable and no theatrics
loving jack doing this now....well done guys keep it up....
It's been awhile since CT has uploaded a video. Let's keep it going!!! At this rate Auto Alex will kill off this channel with his moving on. Keep it up guys, 1 video per week!

Would love to see this restored to its former glory, deffo an NAT conversion. Maybe a challenge to see of you can source all the parts as cheap as possible.
Great Video as always! ❤
Jack's killing it. Love to see it
I hope they make this a nice little JDM car can't lie would be nice to see the boys make a nice car
I missed the first episodes, is it imported from Japan?
@@chm1ata no, it would've been a Toyota Aristo then, not Lexus GS.
Kids usually call everything that's made in Japan "JDM" even tho obviously it's not JDM.
@@hipijs1337 i didn’t know that it would be a Toyota if it was sold in Japan, is it like that with a lot of Lexuses?
@@chm1ata as far as I remember all the Lexus cars until about 2005 were Toyotas in Japan.
Lexus LS = Toyota Celsior
Lexus IS = Toyota Altrxza5
Lexus GS = Toyota Aristo.
@@hipijs1337 I think if it's a Japanese manufacturer, people just call a car JDM. Like I have a Subaru Legacy that the person I bought it from called it JDM, even though it was built in Indiana, USA

Eyy great episode once again by Jack, very informative and well presented
Really interesting seeing the wear after all those miles. Compression test would of been good. Also, are you sure it's the original engine, does it match the V5?
Moving back to the UK in April after almost 12 years living in China. Haven't driven a car in a decade. Cannot wait to get me a little car. Keep up the awesome work, Jack and Ethan! ❤️
¡felíz navidad! ❄️☃
Youre in for a shock when you see the prices haha
@@irishwristwatch2487 still far cheaper than most markets in the rest of the world, even more obvious when you look at Europe
I just bought a 98 gs300 for 600USD. I am so glad I did. About the same condition and everything
I have a family fleet of 5 Toyota/Lexus cars and three have 2JZ-GE VVTi engines. Two have over 300,000 miles and one has 230,000 miles. They all run amazing with resealing and maintenance. Just like they said, take care of them up and enjoy. Replace the VVTi cam gear seal on high mileage cars and you'll fix one of the major leaks. It gives a decent bump in power from how it previously ran.
Altho I still love Autoalex channel, I'm really enjoying the vibes of the new Jack based channel, chilled out and Japanese, perfection!!!!!
Keep up the quality content, damn I finally turned 18 today, got me some driving lessons
Congratulations
I'm excited to see what you guys do with this! I have the same engine and am thinking of going for an NA-T build making about 350 - 400 hp
Great video, entertaining and informative.
My 91 Aristo 2jz done 300 k still runs smooth as silk love it😅
My last gs300 had around 330k miles and ran perfect
crazy how manufacturers today cant compare with this sort of longevity.
most engines in modern sporty cars are just as reliable
@@jerri0401 time will tell
You know Toyota still exists right lmao
@@leftlanegaming530 time already had told and this guy us talking utter drivel. As a 4 decade mechanic his claim is an insult to all engineers and mechanics worldwide. Modern engines are disposable junk with so called "sports car" engines that this bogus poster above mentioned being the very worst offenders. Even Porsche forgot how to make conrods recently🤣 we've only been making conrods since the steam age. He will no doubt argue back too despite the fact I'm the one with a shop and have fixed upward of 5000 engines over the decades.
@@TherapyGel Toyotas newer engines are still the most reliable about but not on par with their older il6 and V8s

You guys are in theeeeeee best hands with this car
Top Job Chaps 🤘
I took my car (Toyota Mark 2 Jzx110) to SRD couple months ago, can vouch for them they diagnosed and checked the car over and made an intake shield 👌
I’ve got a 01 gs300 which I’ve NA-T and manual swapped as a drift car. It’s great to see the JZS16X platform get the love it deserves. Honestly such a underrated car. Just watch what the boys in Japan do with the Aristo out there (Toyota version of the GS300)
Are your internals stock on your gs im wanting to turbo my is300 but I don't wanna put rods and pistons and I only want 350 hp it only has less than 100k miles and I want it to stay reliable and would like to know what if any problems i would have and if you have had any thanks
nice video i saw many legendary engines like X16SZ Opel (Vauxhall) Astra MK3 1994and even you got a bit of too much money you can take some hp its a beast. Z18XE same company theyre bulletproof. Even the 2.5L DTI "Vauxhall" (well its an BMW engine) is still a legend from the year 1998 - 2002
CT has the most watchable and relatable (for me in the drives a shitbox daily marketplace anyway) car content on CZcams.
I'm thankful for the NAT explanation, it's the first time I've heard that term
Nice.
I've had a couple Toyotas with 250k+, you really can't beat them as long as the body is solid.
Those 1nz-fes are pretty fun in the right cars.
The 4 liter 1UZ-FE you mean
@@Richardsung97 No, I said 1nz. Reliable as all shit, in a stripped car with basic mods and a good short shifter, it’s good

is car throttle still releasing videos?
Jack, you've come a long way since your first appearance before the camera, nice to see :)
I like the editing at 0:11 there :)
Love jack hiding the fact he is holding the bonnet up with his head great job 👏
Nice to see jack in the hot seat.
Would have been nice to know what the conversions would have cost ish.
Road to 1000hp build series would be awesome, few drag strip trips with each upgrade.
THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN
as an is300 owner i loved this video.
Probably top 3 car favorite cars they ever bought on this channel.
Even my 180k miles E46 has less oil leaks.
Nice to see that not only BMWs lose oil!
Happy Christmas car throttle, you should get in touch with lexibrake about a manual conversion 😊
You guys should've got the 1st gen gs300 you saw . You could've ran a ton of boost on that nonvvti motor
Notification squad Have a nice weekend!🔥🔥🔥 Merry Christmas To All Of You🎅🎉🎉🎉
great video, the guy knows his stuff. How ever there is some misinformation here, there is no difference in the strength around the cylinders between GE and GTE, and the cam profiles are almost identical.
I hope u do this car up as this needs it I hope u make this the fastest GS in UK
Merry Christmas
My IS300 dynoed 185whp and 169wtrq last year. It's getting a 3uz and a cd009 as we speak
You ever thought about getting your hands on a MGZR? Very revvy and proper awesome little K series engines!
*blows head gasket in english*
Seen one of your car stickers on an old golf the other day .Made me laugh.
Two. Jay. Zed.
Check the lower ball joints, since it's had 240k and still rolling, I would think they've been changed. But can't be too careful!!
Crushing it jack
i would like to see someone do a Naturally Aspirated build on a 2JZ.
big cams, ITBs maybe
Nah dude NA 2Js are dogs these people built one.internals ITBs I think they even stroked it and it only made like 300wheel
It could be good, but i bet you’d spend a ton chasing stock/mildly upgraded S54 figures
@I6zone No it wouldn't. A big Lexus with a 2J on ITBs wouldn't be anything impressive.
Ethan need to go next 🤣 make car throttle much better
judging by the fender "repair" and the exhaust "mod" I dont 100% agree the car have been living "easy life" as you said :D but great video I love these engines and cars
Really good video it reminded me of miles it would be fantastic if you got it to 400hp and made it a sleeper that would be cool
Make it a sleeper race car and go full on cage and everything!! Heck take her to tracks and do a roadtrip to the Nurburgring!!
Well, I know it isn't as much of a thing in Europe in general as it is here in the states, but a heavier and longer car like this is not really set up, suspension and geometry wise, to be a great handling sports car for road tracks I think. It might be more possible to get it to be a capable GT car, but I would spec it to be a drag car before trying to make it work on a road course. It would take a lot more modification and compromise I think to make it work for that when considering what would need to be done outside of just more power.
Please do a build with these guys!!
Shame you could of showed us some of the Supras and other cars at the garage. 👍 Supra noises are the best 😀
3 weeks since the last vid, what's the crack?
Where is the small loud guy?
P.S. Love the content
What a machine 👌
Love the gs300 because it’s my first car
Had two Lexus is300 Sportcrosses with over 200k miles and they held up extremely well
I love mine but it has to go for a people carrier soon. Thing feels like a new car
Yeah I had a IS300 with 270k miles and it still was holding on
My girlfriend has a 355k mile 2JZ and in the 3 years together it has only gone to the shop for some spark plugs/wires that needed to be replaced. Obviously, it had all the needed fluid changes as required. Much less trouble than the VQ I had is less than half the miles.
Got to see that thing turbocharged and drag raced.
Pleasantly surprising
Wooooould a stall converter and diff gears be a good little pick me up mod for this thing?
I'd imagine the factory gearing is suuuuper long
never forget that legendary reliability can only be proven by legendary negligence
New video by funtime channel , Jack is that the infamous vw v royal mail
incident? Bloody scary.
Makes me miss my 03 is300 even more
Peak toyota bulletproof 👌 gotta love them during 90/00s
what would the insurance be on this in the uk for a 21 year old new driver?
Hey guys consider a Citroen Bx project car. The one with the hydroneumatic suspension would be cool. I would love to see how it would look with your easthetic. :D
Those catalysator are in exhaust manifold in these gs300, so did someone stole the whole manifold? And the owner build new?
Far out this is awesome
might not be wise, but I might try and get one of these for my first car, since it might be my last chance at some crazy big engine fun before fuel prices become completely fucked and the move to EV begins
u should go for it, gs is very nice car, i had is200, and a gs300.
