  • Welcome to the Trick Shift Garage! In this video, we will show you how to replace the throttle body on our 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5L engine. Lately, it has been acting up with a high idle speed (1250 rpms) and stumbling acceleration issues. The process is pretty straight forward replacement however there are some specific things to look out for while doing this. But, once you get the new throttle body and gasket on you're not done yet! You have to perform the idle air relearn procedure to get your engine to idle at the correct speed (650 rpms). So, stick around until the end to know how to reset it!

    I was wondering. I just bought a new OEM MAF for my 2012 Altima. Check engine light turned off for almost 3 months before it turned back on again with the same MAF code. Was wondering if maybe I should clean the TB? Would that help?

    My car (Nissan Altima 2013) works fine in reverse, but does not get past 2 rpm on drive mode.
    What do I possibly do to fix the problem?

    • @TrickShiftGarage
      @TrickShiftGarage  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Well, you can check the fluid level and make sure that is at the right level. Low fluid level could be the cause. Also smell the fluid while you're checking the level. If it smells burnt or looks brown the fluid overheated and needs to be changed out. If none of that is a problem, then you should take it in to a Nissan shop and let them diagnose what's going on. Take it to a second shop if your skeptical and would like a second opinion. Hope this helps, thanks for watching! 👍

      @@TrickShiftGarage I appreciate your swift response. I changed out the fluid and added 8 litres, but still have the same problem.
      The 2013 NA takes 10 litres of CVT fluid after a complete drain, according to Nissan instruction. So, a 2 litres fluid will be added for proper gauge and would try again.

    Hey brother! I need some advice. My sister was driving her 09 Altima coupe and suddenly it jerked then now is running rough n choppy. Starts right away, also when I opened the hood unfortunately the air filter box was open. Does this mean my throttle body could be dirty?

    • @TrickShiftGarage
      @TrickShiftGarage  Před 11 měsíci

      Uh oh, that's not good. Some kinda debris or dirt could have been ingested by the engine. You're throttle body and more importantly the MAF sensor probably needs to be cleaned up as soon as possible (right behind the air box). There's MAF sensor and throttle body cleaner that you can buy at your local auto parts store. Is there a check engine light on?

  • @GolgiGuy102
    @GolgiGuy102 Před 9 měsíci +1

    Does the throttle body still make a noise similar to the relearn noise when shutting your Altima off. I noticed my makes a similar noise when i shut the car off with the hood up. Not sure if it is new or just never noticed it before.

    • @TrickShiftGarage
      @TrickShiftGarage  Před 9 měsíci

      I'm not sure, I'd assume it probably makes that noise every time the engine shuts off, but like you never really noticed or listened out for it before lol. I'll try listening the next time I drive it! 😉

    • @TrickShiftGarage

      I don't think so. It shouldn't mess with the idle quality or speed because the throttle body isn't being unplugged. I'd say try it out and let us all know how it goes! Thanks for watching! 👍

    • @TrickShiftGarage
      @TrickShiftGarage  Před 10 měsíci

      Interesting. My guess would be either a bad ground somewhere in the electrical system or a defective ECM. Check over all the wiring and make sure nothing is unplugged or loose. Any wires that are showing the copper core is bad and should be replaced or repaired. Personally, I would take this issue to a shop and pay the diagnostic fee to have them tell me what's going on, and then see if you can do the repair yourself or pay them to fix it.

    Question, lets say i cant get it to relearn, will it relearn by itself after driving?

    • @TrickShiftGarage
      @TrickShiftGarage  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I've heard that it will (as long as nothing is wrong with it) but I've never seen it before. If it doesn't and the relearn isn't happening, your local Nissan dealer has the computer to relearn it automatically, but they'll probably charge you something for it.

    how you know the relearn process worked or not?

    • @TrickShiftGarage
      @TrickShiftGarage  Před rokem +2

      You will know it worked when the engine idle is around 650 rpm +/- 50 rpm when it's fully warmed up. When I first drove it after replacing the throttle body, the idle speed wasn't too bad (between 900-1000 rpm). So it was lower than with the old throttle body (1250 rpm).
      Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for watching! 😊

    Specially going up hill … however, it looks OK when start car and drive for like 3 minutes, then I get car getting acceleration problem … I have no check engine error, no code errors …. Sparkplugs, transmission fluids all done few month ago …so frustrated , any help appreciate

    • @TrickShiftGarage
      @TrickShiftGarage  Před rokem +1

      Wow, sorry you're going through that. To be honest, there could be a few possible causes to an acceleration issue. It could be a bad throttle body. But it could also be a fueling issue, i.e. fuel injectors, fuel pump or fuel filter (that's inside the gas tank). It could also be a transmission issue, a bad sensor or malfunctioning solenoid.
      You should probably take it to a shop and have them diagnose the problem to get to the root cause. I'd hate for you to buy parts and throw them in the car hoping it fixes the problem.
      Let us know if you figure it out! 😊

      @@TrickShiftGarage I think when it doesn't go above 40mph (approx) may mean the Altima entered "Limp mode" which may indicate Transmission problems (Wants to protect the Trans) Of course it could be sensors etc.

      @@TrickShiftGarage Off topic a bit and another thing I learned the other day about the FOB. (I didn't know this) If your car is locked and you press and hold the unlock button it will make your windows go down till your release pressure on the unlock button. This is great for me with these hot temps. I just lower my windows from the house so I don't have to enter a baking over car. (2009 Altima SL 2.5)
