- Today the Braille Skateboarding Channel is here to teach you how to set up a complete skateboard for beginners! Now today isn't a normal tutorial... we're putting the women of Braille (Chloe & Kylie) through the gauntlet and they will be competing head to head! @rickyglaser will first teach the gentle art of a complete skateboard setup, Chloe and Kylie are free to use notes to remember the steps. Then phase 2 is a race with no help to see who can CORRECTLY assemble their respective skateboards! Feel free to follow along and learn from some of the common mistakes that were made in this video! I actually used the original video last week to assemble my first board. Still awesome that you guys keep making videos like this, really helpful for all of us newbies.
they install bearings wrong.
you need a metal spacer/tube inbetween the bearings on each wheel. (missing from this video :s)
the nut should clamp onto the centre part of the bearings only (you can use the thin washers they threw away to achieve this, they go on both outside edges of either bearing).
then the nuts can be done up tight and there should be no sideways play what so ever while the wheel still spins freely.

@@jimmyhackers8980 Yep this and just poke a small screwdriver through the griptape and then use a philips head screwdriver to countersink the griptape and it will always look nice.

Saw this and was like, well there's one I can skip. Then autoplay kicked in and it was a competition, so why not? It is actually a great idea to show off how to build a board. And show some of the questions that come up along the way. Like how to really get a clean edge around the grip.

Lol, I like how Ricky said the bearing washers (aka speed rings) were optional.. Not really 😂. Also they have a flat side, and a slightly domed side.. The domes side should be facing the bearing race on both sides, and the flat side should face the hanger, and the outer one toward the axle nut.. Both ladies did a great job tho. 👍👍

What..... Setting up a skateboard is the easiest thing in the world. Well for me it was. when I was a kid I must have set up dozens and dozens of boards over the years for the years back then. Well mostly it was because I was trying to create crazy looking skateboards with big wheels and little trucks or big trucks with little wheels, stuff like that. Even a longboard with like 9" offroad wheels that I found on that trolley. Because I wanted to ride off road.
Hey Braille how about some more offroad skateboarding❓️❓️ I'm talking yall gotta find a way to fit 9-10" offroad wheels on longboard trucks. And put them on a regular skateboard And play a game of skate...

it drives me insane that people think the washers do nothing. And they teach begineers that the washers do nothing
For what percentage of people do they make an appreciable difference? I use washers. I also lose washers and keep skating anyway.
Ive used these specific wheel washers for many years and also not used them for many years, it was impossible to tell any difference 😊

Nothing like watching two people with little knowledge of a putting together a skateboard, receive quick instructions to assemble one. Not only that but in a race, to see who's faster.👏 Now we need to see Chole and Kylie play a game of skate, on these boards. 🛹After a few adjustments to the hardware of course.

@@jimmyhackers8980 I think the thing with a lot of skateboard parts is that they're engineered for very high technical specifications. But arguably most skaters will never hit the rpms that those bearing were engineered for, and things turn out just fine. Again, I agree it is the "right" way, and probably should be discussed in a beginner instructional. I'm not sure if my current wheels have spacers or not. Skateboarding is born from breaking rules, I'm not sure if there is a wrong way, unless it doesn't work for you.
