This is a prologue to my documentary "Mucky Secrets", about the weird and wonderful marine life of the Lembeh Strait between North Sulawesi and Lembeh Island in Indonesia, one of my favorite scuba diving destinations.
At the heart of the Coral Triangle, the Lembeh Strait is known for it's fascinating muck diving and the huge diversity of marine life. An astonishing array of weird and wonderful creatures can be encountered on every dive. Many of the animals have strong personalities, which I have tried to convey in this video. Mating mandarinfish take a starring role, as do mantis shrimps, sea slugs, snake eels, boxfish, scorpionfish, frogfish and other tropical fish and invertebrates.
In the full 90-minute documentary I reveal the secrets behind the Lembeh Strait's critters, exploring the marine biology of dozens of species.
Thanks to Two Fish Divers (www.twofishdivers.com) who I stayed and dived with on Lembeh Island.

CZcams is surprising sometimes. Whichever person recently shared my Mucky Secrets Prologue video and made it go viral amongst 45-64-year-old Taiwanese people, thank you! May the rest of the world follow.

I am from Taiwan I came here through a share from friend in LINE。 Then I shared it through WhatsApp。
I've been working on a 90-minute documentary called "Mucky Secrets", about the weird and wonderful marine life of Indonesia's Lembeh Strait, one of my favorite muck diving destinations.
Here's a prologue I made in advance of the full release. I really tried to show the personalities of all these quirky little creatures.
Thanks to Two Fish Divers who I stayed and dived with, and to ***** for the beautiful music.

I've finally completed my documentary, "Mucky Secrets", about the fascinating marine life of the Lembeh Strait in Indonesia. Apologies for the unforeseen delay. The first part will be published on CZcams in the next couple of days, technology permitting. In the meantime, here's the prologue again to set the scene.

What an unbelievable amazing beautiful world you have opened for viewers. Thank you so much!
The full 90-minute documentary is now online: Mucky Secrets (full) - The Marine Creatures of the Lembeh Strait
I’m not sure how to say this, but for some reason the close up of the eyes make the creatures seem more alive, it creates an empathy for them, there is a thinking mind behind the eyes.
A master piece by a Master filming underwater!
Congratulations!!
This eyes have it. This is brilliant footage. Unequivocally the best Mandarin close ups. And so much more!
This is better than muck diving in person, The entire cast of characters are here and I didn't have to get wet or spend big bucks on airfare. Thank you for the wild ride!
The common and scientific names of all the animals are available as captions under the CC button, along with the dive site names. Please subscribe to be notified when the full documentary is released. Enjoy!
Amazing. I can only imagine the work and dedication involved. As an aged diver I long to visit and see for myself but your work is the next best thing.
Thanks! This was shot with a Sony HVR-Z1P HDV camera with a Century Optics +3.5 diopter in a Light & Motion Bluefin HD housing with Light & Motion halogen lights. It's 6 years old already, but I didn't replace it yet. You wouldn't buy this rig now.
Absolutely brilliant. This does Lembeh's richness and diversity full justice, and then some!
Incredible footage! Thanks for posting!
Many sea animals are included in this video. I see cameraman's talent and effort. Good job!
Nick, the shots with the spawning Mandarin Fish are just absurdly fkng amazing!!!

BUBBLE VISION beautiful! Funny, briliant and perfect! Music and colours, all... THANK YOU!
Tenk you so much! Beautiful film and creatures that i had never seen in Adriatic or mediteranian sea. At my age, when diving is a memory, this is a grate gift. Thank you once more!
Yours regularl visitor, Dr Djordje Siber
Thanks! It's a big housing, which helps, and for a lot of the shots I had the camera resting on the bottom. I also have some arms attached to it made of "Gorillapod" which act a bit like tripod legs and help steady it.
That was 4 minutes of pure beauty
Most references have it down as a bicolor parrotfish (Cetoscarus bicolor), but those have fairly recently been shown to be local to the Red Sea. The rest including this one are actually spotted parrotfish (Cetoscarus ocellatus). They look almost the same.
Tks for the goodies.
Part 1 of the series is now live: Mucky Secrets - Part 1 - Coral Triangle, Lembeh Strait & Sessile Animals

Simply amazing. just, WOW! 11/10
Amazing HD images ! The limits of human vision cannot see perfectly and clearly these details in each single strangely gesture of creature ! Thanks for sharing.
Best regards -- Domino
Wonderfull video, all the fishes have their own expressions, very funny, buetifull, unique and colorfull.
Amazing shots :)
Wonderful!!!
Wonderful!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your kind words divegranny1. I'm sorry but my information about the housing market is very out of date. You could try asking for advice on the underwater video forums on wetpixel or scubaboard.
It was very nice, thanks .
很美多彩的海底世界,值得推薦欣賞。
Veramente spettacolare. Complimenti!!!
MAGICAL!!!
Le meilleur de tous ! SUBLIME !
Beautiful. As I'm not the rest of the world I'll just forward the link.
Wonderful! Really captures Lembeh. How do you stay so steady with the tight closeups!? Outstanding!
Thank you for your response. I've thought of experimenting with Gorillapod-type legs, but never have. I use an Ikelite housing on a Canon HV40 (old school, I know.) Here's one of my Lembeh videos: "Wunderpus Pops and Flamboyant Cuttlefish Strolls"
Nadzwyczaj ciekawe, dziekuje bardzo za udostępnienie.
Merci

Fantastic footage, I love muck diving! I just spent some time in Amed, Bali, where the muck diving is comparably stunning. My wife and I are thinking about going to Lembeh now :)
