    The 08-09 had the 6.2 with a 6 speed auto trans that made them a bit quicker. They also had dual electric fans to cool the engine and it helped keep those transmission temps down.

Also, my air suspension compressor was giving out so I converted it to coil springs so I don't have to worry about having problems with it again in the future. If I have to tow anything with it, I'll just use a weight distribution hitch. Much safer that way anyway.

    The 4L60/80e were analog the prior generations. In my opinion, you gotta use it old school and drop gears. The 321 behind the D gives you engine breaking and the effect of holding gears longer like the tow haul mode does. I think could get the breaking and better speed from that same truck by running it in 3 or maybe 2 even.

  • @bBrain
    @bBrain Před 3 lety

    When they built the hummer with the 6.0, they forsure overbuilt under powered the engine. Tunes, exhaust (high flow cats) will wake them up. beyond that, HCI (Heads, Cam Intake) with slightly larger injectors really wakes them up. Beyond that, custom turbo, superchargers easily give it 75-100hp. The 6.0L 366ci engine making only 325hp is way detuned. They do that for 2 reasons, 1 it runs on 87 pump gas, 2 detuning it makes them last forever. The transmission was never anything to brag about, but if rebuilt with better parts it's pretty dang strong.
    I always felt like it needed better diff gears, the gearing standard of 4.10 was good for 2003, but really needs to be like a 4.56 orif you want real grunt, 4.88 maybe on 35s. 4.88 is a must if you go 37 or larger. (if my math is right, 4.56 on 37's is the same ratio as 4.10s on 35s) But I feel like it needs 4.56's on 35s, 4.88's on 37s. It doesn't sound like much, but that diff gearing change to 4.56 on 35's would really wake it's towing up and acceleration and would help in in-city gas milage quite a bit by giving it that mechanical advantage. But it really seems like the stock 4.10 gear was a really bad choice by 2006/2007 it just wasn't enough and should of been changed by GM.
    What kills me is guys who run 37's on stock 4.10 diffs. LOL ouch.

    That's why I like my 08... 6.2 with the 6 speed was way better.

    You know Andre, I was going to give you a big kudos and say that the performance does not have to be fast or very efficient as long as it works. Then I realized for your safety, it might be advisable to use something that can get out of its own way for merging and what have you. For a GMC product, you are fortunate it still can do anything IMO. lol Thanks for sharing your personal clips of boating and what have you. :)

    You said that the engine has 0 issues, but when you accelerated I saw an engine light on.

    The 6.0 is very thirsty engine.

    I've owned a 2500 pickup with the 6.0 and towed extensively with it. It was not nearly as slow as yours...I think there's something wrong with yours. Of course, the big tires don't help but it should be similar other than that.

      The H1 runs constantly in 4 wheel drive, and the gearing is designed around that to perform better off road.

      dedalliance1 kind of irrelevant given that he’s driving an H2...which is based on the GMT800 platform as was my truck that I referred to. Part time 4x4 with electric switchable transfer case.

    My buddy has the same truck after he put a bully dog on it it would get out of its own way. My semi with 30k pounds in the box will still walk off on it though
