The Corolla might seem like the most boring of commuter cars, but it turns out it has a long history of being a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Hey as long as they're still making affordable, quality, reliable cars and still making cool performance cars at the same time then I'm all for it! Never been as big of a Toyota fan till now!

If you want unmatched quality, buy a Japanese vehicle. I used to drive European Fords for many years, thinking car breakdowns was normal until my father bought a Corolla. It never broke... Ever! So I bought a corolla, my sister bought one, my two brothers bought corolla. Now today i have a Toyota hilux, my father still drives his 1992 Toyota corolla. It has rust on the bodywork now, but still going strong at 350000 kms. He lives in a town with only gravel roads. Toyota is in our family to stay. Its just absolutely brilliant.

Toyota doesn’t have an “identity crisis” what Toyota does have is a “Jackal and Hyde” personality where they can be whatever they want to be when they need to be it.

Corolla just one example. They certainly are for example my Toyota GT86 pulls up against Toyota C-HR and it is crazy how different some stuff Toyota make is. That is even without comparing GR Supra to a Tacoma also, I do love Toyota for this but you don’t see Audi or BMW diversify this much in cars from one model to another,

Always wondered how the 86 of Initial D turned into the bland Corolla of the 2000s.

There is no identity crisis. They produce reliable road cars and sports cars, that's it. They have done this with the Celicas and Supras of the past, and they will continue to do so in the future.

Funny thing, here in Europe, the E120 (2002-2007) had a spiced up version of up to 225hp, using a 1.8vvtl-i with a supercharger bolted on

There were more interesting corollas: tom's 7a-fte engine for australian ae112. A lot of enthusiast has made same swap of celica's engine and drive train building wrc version of corolla ae111. Also were corolla fx - short hatch With the 4age engine.

In my country the corolla has a special place in our heart since most of our family members once owned or still owns a corolla and alot of the corollas here are modified with engines, turbos, etc. Alot of people here also track race their corollas or some even rally race them.

Honda has even more of an Identity Crisis, they discontinued the recently confused fat "NSX" and the only true international sportscar they currently have is the Type-R Civic.

I wouldn’t say they have an Identity Crisis, I’ll say their vehicles are diverse and they have something for everyone in any market, you want a huge luxury barge well there the Lexus or the Century or let’s say you want a cheap econobox there the Yaris and Aygo, they have over 4 minivans for different places, they have vehicles for the outdoorsy people, they have the family carriers, they have the luxury cars, they have the EV’s and fuel efficient vehicles, I think this is what makes them unique and so profitable. You could be in a $60,000 Supra and pull up next to a Prius at the stoplight and in no less than 5 minutes see a Tundra. I think this diversity is so awesome, and those cars allow us enthusiasts to have our cars
