Even though you're not an official Olympus ambassador, you'll still be an Oly ambassador to me. Always love seeing your shots and learning how you compose. Please keep doing what you're doing, you have a gift, and thanks so much for sharing it with all of us. Have a very blessed day!
Bummer about the ambassadorship, you were the first person I found when researching Olympus cameras. Anyhow, I'm still enjoying your channel. Nice work.
This channel was one of the reasons why I bought an Olympus camera in the first place, so that the company made indirect revenue by content from this channel. This is such a horrible move, but I see how they want to cut costs now, and heavily focus on BIF/ wildlife while abandoning almost all over marketing plots. This means that this channel simply doesn’t fit into their marketing concept anymore, and had to be abandoned.
I hope this channel will exist for years to come. It is always nice to see new content. An end is also always a beginning of something else. I’m excited!
Same here. I started shooting a couple of months ago with a Sony Nex 5R but felt I wanted a viewfinder. So I started researching cameras and because I also wear glasses I wanted a bigger eye relief so I could see the whole image in the evf. I made a list of cameras that I was interested in and started going full blast on CZcams. And finding this channel and watching a lot of videos made me choose the e-m10 mark 3 (which I got almost new below the price for a similar use mark 2). I love the enthusiasm and casual-Ness of his videos and it's so refreshing to watch.
It really is unfortunate that OMDS doesn't recognize your contributions and influence in the micro four thirds sphere and with Olympus gear more specifically. Although it may be more difficult to borrow cameras and lenses, your not being an Ambassador only enhances your credibility in reviewing gear and opining on all things photography. So keep up the great work my friend!
Don't go back....You have your freedom now, you can choose to review whatever system you wish to talk about, moreover you can give more honest opinion and not being restricted by any company...,👌
Robin, your content is great! I’m so irritated that OMDS ditched so many ambassadors that focused on content other than nature/wildlife. Your statement about not ditching the system right now is why I believe your content is genuine. So many photographers ditched the system when they were no longer ambassadors/visionaries that it makes me feel their like/love for the system wasn’t genuine and they only supported it because of being supported by Olympus! Thanks for your content and be so genuine!❤️
I do not want to defend ambassadors, but they also need to somehow make a living. When a company ditches you, you start to look around for a new partner. That’s just business as usual.
You can love your partner, but cameras are just tools.
We need a way to contact OM systems to let them know we want Robin back as an ambassador. Great personality, tons of good info... GIVE HIM SOME SUPPORT OM SYSTEMS!!!!
What OM systems are thinking of not making you an ambassador is beyond me? Your channel is an inspiration! Your knowledge and enthusiasm is second to none! If you move on to another brand your advice and skill would still inspire OM users.
It is a great loss to OM system and those who use the old Olympus system if you stop making videos related to these cameras and lenses. We learn so much from you.
You become better and better at making videos. The big loss is for OM!
What I would like to see it's a translation of what you are saying to the strangers when you are taking street portraits. You have excellent interactions and the street portraits are outstanding.
haha sometime he says in Malay
most of the time is compliment to the person so they will be more confident (as my understanding)😆
Whichever direction you choose to go in, Robin, I will be checking in. You do great, informative vlogs that are valuable to all us punters.
Hi Robin! Too bad about Olympus. You've been a resource for Olympus gear. However now you have more freedom to do what you're doing. Keep up the great work!
Camera conspiracies channel talks about you. That IS why i find your channel. Great channel you have!!!
Robin, you have been a true ambassador for Olympus -- I'm glad you are not dumping the brand. You are an excellent photographer and in years past, whenever Olympus would come out with new gear I would look forward to your excellent blog commentaries and reviews -- much more so than the established 'review' sites. Your sample images always blew me away -- it didn't matter whether you were shooting people, buildings, bugs, or birds -- your images were always sharp, well composed, and perfectly processed. In addition, your thoughts and commentaries were always objective and spot on. Thanks for all you have contributed to us Olympus fans over the years!
Would love to see a video on your post process, especially how you manage to achieve a consistent look and feel in your photos. When I see your photos, I always see a distinct Robin-ness! I've been wanting to try and get a more unique look and feel for my images and would love to see how you go about maintaining your image consistency. For me personally, a video on this topic would help my journey to create my own look and feel.
Shame about the OM-System engagement. I mean I really don't think it's that hard to say "Hey we're sorry we ignored you, let's stay in touch and let us know if you need something" even if they don't want to offer you the formal ambassador program again. I sometimes find these corporate marketing mentalities hard to fathom. Stay strong though, there are lots of people in the Olympus/OM ecosystem who still value your opinion and content!
Well spoken Robin, I changed from Nikon to Olympus back in 2020 when everyone said they were going under, the prices dropped here in New Zealand dramatically, all my Nikon gear sold within two weeks and that enabled me to get the EM1 Mk iii plus 300mm Pro, the 40-150 Pro and the Camera came with the 12-40 Pro. I had used an Olympus compact Camera 5 years before and really liked it but so did my ex wife ! There are so many people that think full frame is the only Camera on the planet, bollicks ! I purchased a used Nikon D810, supposedly a top of the range Camera, after two weeks of using it I got rid of it, it felt so clunky, auto focus so slow and not accurate Compared with the EM1 Mk iii, the Oly Cameras are so nice to use, small and light, great lenses and with obtaining the new OM-1 I have the perfect combo for all types of photography, I find the OM-1 on another level but I wont be selling the Em1. Cheers for another great Video. PS all cameras have there place !
I’ve been following your content since you started your blog, and you were the reason I got my first Olympus camera many years ago. Good luck Robin!
New owner of Olympus gear. My last camera was a Minolta X-570 back in the 80's.
Newer subscriber but I've been chewing up your content.
The happiness, energy and friendliness you radiate in your videos really inspires and encourages me, thank you.
I would be happy with any content you'd like to produce but I feel like you shine out in the field vs. trying to talk to us and show us things from behind an editing desk... Maybe a few comments about a function or two that you find yourself applying to nearly all of your pictures? If there is such a thing for you.
If I'm asking, I'd sooner see what one or more of your professional shoots looks like. I realize that getting permission, plus interrupting your flow to record video probably makes that not much of an option. Total respect on that.
Also, yeah if a bad situation can't be remedied before it gets to the point you have to walk away, then keep walking. Going back at that point just puts you at a place where you know that only threatening to quit gets respect. And what kind of relationship is that?
I don't see them displaying the degree of integrity you deserve. But then, I'm not in the know.
Good thing you are a interesting photograper in any case 🙏
Definitely would want to see a postprocessing workflow video!
As always, amazing street photography.
I so enjoy your videos about micro four thirds photography and your photo walks around KL. I had a few business trips there and it brings back memories.
I've been following your reviews way before CZcams. I bought a EM10 mk1 based on your written review and amazing quality street portraits. You've been using and promoting Olympus for years so it's unbelievable that they don't know who you are. Keep up the good work, you are very much appreciated 👍
Dopey thinking on OM Systems’ part. I can’t imagine what more they could ask of an informative, articulate, enthusiastic ambassador.
Well if you’ve watched a majority of OM Systems latest reviews, they are focused on wildlife and adventure photography. Granted I think they are missing out but maybe specializing in one thing is going to benefit them long term. They definitely aren’t designed for vlogging or whatever.
You Sir are an Ambassador to Photography. OMDS's loss. YES I would love to see some content of how you edit your images. All the best from Barcelona Spain.
Always good to see you, Robin. Great content.
You’re amazing, and I learn a lot from you. Thank you!
Robin ,you are the Best Special ambassador 👏
Robin, it's good to find you again regardless of affiliation. Your energy and insight has been inspiring to me!
Just love that shot at 6:57, and liked seeing the photography in context. Great video, Robin.
You are very good, I am inspired by your videos that are very clear and satisfying, I'm sorry they ignored you or something else will have happened, I continue to follow you regardless of the brand you choose ... Keep up the good work...sorry for the English I translated it and I do not know if the translation was correct..
I would love to see your post processing workflow including file management! I've been using Capture One pro and it works well but I feel I'm not using it as efficiently as I could be.
Congratulation tó OM ambassador🌷🌷🌷MR Robin Wong
Yes! Robin Wong Workflow tutorial video!
I bought an OM-1 today all because of watching your videos over a few weeks.
Great to see you …the best …
Hello Robin,
I always enjoy your energy and reviews. I thank you and wish you the best!
I always appreciate your videos Robin. They are technically interesting and informative and also provide your viewers with images of Malaysia, KL and life in the Far East, thereby helping to redress the balance against the preponderance of Western-dominated material. Your constant cheerfulness is another ingredient in making your videos eminently viewable. The cessation of the ambassadorship might be a bummer but it's only a label. You and your photography are what's important.
Thanks for another excellent video. I shoot JPG+RAW and most micro 4/3 cameras allow this. The JPG files allow me to share photos shortly after I take them, while the RAW files allow me to go back in to do further processing on select images.
If you comeback make sure they send you a free camera.
Great pictures!
I love the videos, hopefully OM Systems will acknowledge their mistake and make you a OM Ambassador. No matter what, I lovenyour videos and your photography
It would be great for OM System and your followers if you become an ambassador again.
Your videos are so helpful. I've learned a lot from you.
Thank you!
Greetings from México!
I remember many times when somebody buys a new Olympus camera and they post on Facebook asking for how to set up their camera. Always, somebody tells them to search on CZcams for Robin Wong. OM System needs you to be their ambassador.
I always value your honesty and high level of expertise. I hope Olympus rewards you for that.
Thank Robin for that nice video. I appreciate what you doing. I hope you will come in Montreal tou make nice picture of ma city. I procreate to myself a OMD 5 III because of your recommandation. I have a lot of fun using it.
yes I'd like to see a video on post processing. thanks!
Super production and photography, Robin! I hope you'll continue your use of Olympus and hopefully, they'll make amends for the sake of such a great ambassador and personality for their company!
I still wish that they had you do the user guide for the cameras - I learn so much from you Robin! Love your shots with the 20 mm.
I like your photo walks! You confirmed some things for me today: you compose & capture best images in RAW, and follow with minimal post processing, when possible. Yay! Your snaps in the videos always look “ready-to-print” for me! Local business people & traffic seem tolerant, even friendly, of photography and walkers? Your kitty kat pix are what I love most! Again, rather tolerant & friendly. Fwiw, I like the images you capture and share regardless of the camera or lens. You share good ideas & suggestions that I like hearing, and these contributions help my understanding of photography and your community! I frequently think “let’s do this” when a boost is needed!Lol! Please stay positive and continue sharing your thoughts with us. Best wishes! 🙏
Yes . . . post-processing session would be great.
Hey Robin, I would definitely love to see your workflow. I try to do minimal post-processing and I know I want to get better at this. Also would love to see how you have your E-M! III set up these days. Thank you for all the very helpful videos!
I agree with a lot of the other people posting that it doesn't matter to me whether you are an ambassador or not. I love your work and find your videos valuable and inspiring. Keep up the great work!
Robin, I own several Olympus cameras and lenses. I learned at least 85-90% of what I know about Olympus cameras through you. I am so very grateful. I really think that it is time for you to write your own online digital or hard copy book on operating Olympus cameras. Maybe you can even consider developing a digital course of your own through Skill Share or Udemy). That way your knowledge could be used in a manner which would be beneficial for us, and at the same time be profitable for you. That way you will not depend on Olympus/OM Systems or any other camera company for support and advancement ever again.
You have the knowledge…
You have the talent…
Please consider what I am saying here 😊
Thank you :)
Really sad OMSystem's failure to keep you within being their ambassador...I've seen some of the clowns they employ and call ambassadors. Your love for photography is so intense and inspiring. You are a beacon...best wishes always!
fabulous video
I bought my first Olympus OM camera because of your informative and educational videos. Many of my Olympus purchases have been due to your advice and presentations. I have no plans on upgrading to the OM-1 system any time soon but the reality is, I would actually be more open to the idea, if you were to review it. Thank you for your help, from Los Angeles, California.
You are the person to whom I have most frequent person turned to when I am looking for solutions to my photography with Olympus. I hope you will be back because when I upgrade to the OM system as I will need your advice. I have always loved your work in the advice and in just the settings that you have on shots like in this video in walking around the market. Not including you as an ambassador is a loss for OM Systems. Cheers bro.
Hope you do this! You deserve to come back
Robin, I enjoy your videos very much. And I appreciate your down-to-earth style and content. I am very interested in seeing your post processing workflow and I am not very familiar with Capture One Pro. So, when you get a chance, please share a processing video with us. Thanks!
Nice street shots!
In this video you somewhat reminded me of Gordon Laing, but a Malaysian version 😊. Nicely done; impressed with the OM5 III as a vlogging camera as well.
Simply said: I really should like an OM1 test made by you. I think you are the best for the job. I don't care about others. For the same reason I would love to see you ambassador again. I am following your vids anyway. But you are for me number one olympus resource.
Robin.. we support your work! OM should get their finger out and respect what you have done for the brand.
I agree with the sentiment. OM Systems is wasting a laudable resource. Most camera and lens reviews are so boring that they can leave you in tears. Since I am leaving the world of Nikon for OM, I eagerly await your CZcams posts.
Hi Robin. Although I now have an OM-1 camera I am still using my EM1 mark iii cameras. If you are a primarily a wildlife or sports photographer then I would highly recommend the OM-1 camera. For my wildlife photography, the OM-1 together with my 150-400mm now repaired and sorted out by OM Systems pro lens is excellent and highly recommended. However, for street, buildings, models and portrait etc the EM1 mark iii is still superb. For certain aspects of wildlife and nature such as flowers, fungi etc that do not move I still use my EM1 mark iii cameras. Just started doing some street type photography recently using my Lumix / Panasonic G9 with 12-35mm and Nocticron 42.4mm lenses as a change from wildlife. Few issues with camera I have to look at but still a good set up. Keep on with the photo therapy 😊😊
Hay Robin
Awesome video and content as always 👏👏👏
I have the OM-D E10 mkiii I have the 12-40 pro lens with the L FN button on the side but I believe Olympus took away the option to assign a function to it on this model!!!! Is that right and is there a way round this ?
Keep them coming man you’ve taught me so much as I was a canon 5D guy for years
OM Ambassador Question... I have long been said about whatever happened. I do not think anyone was more honest or enthusiastic about shooting the FourThirds sensor than you. I have been shooting the format since 2010 which at first I hated because the Panasonic sensor was mediocre, and then totally changed my mind when Olympus changed to the Sony sensor in the E-M5. It was fantastic. I bought and have stayed ever since. I look forward to what would have been E-M5.MkIV. Stacked BSI, yes yes. I love everything I shoot and I disagree with every complaint about negative trade-offs. The positive trade-off is that I can carry six lenses in a padded bag not much bigger than a lady's purse, and I do not need to hire a caddy to get 600mm reach.
be whatever u wanna to be because u the the best. hopefully , u will make many more video about “mobile videography & photography” since nowaday, people r more interested in mobile. there's so many third party lenses option for mobile phones and others accessories useful in photography & videography .
You beside the system are a great photographer. Saw Manu of your videos specially from omd_ Olympus. I hace a simple Olympus omd m10 Mark 3
Thanks for sharing your skills!!!!!
They only had to search on CZcams for “Olympus camera” and you appear so many times. 🤦♂️ Well done for sticking to your principles.
OMD we want Robin Wong for ambassador. I have learned so much from Robin. Not selecting Robin is a great mistake
Still the “Olympus” king, regardless of OM. Probably don’t like the fact you are more viewed than them. I have now managed to get my full ‘Olympus’ kit And not OM. I have to use the Olympus OM software, not for processing! Without, Robin I may have jumped ship 10 plus years ago!
Forget about Ambassador ship unless there is good monetary benefit for you. I would love to see more of your shots irrespective of the camera you use.
I love the shot @ 6:29
You're right about the gear; current cameras are way good enough for 99% of the time unless there's a specific need e.g. medium format, sports, etc
And about the response from OM systems US, it's clear they don't think ambassadorship has a strong place within their promotional and brand building strategy, especially for people like you that has been preaching Olympus for ages. Pretty arrogant for them if I have to say so myself. Anyway, you've held you head up high and did the right thing.
Love your work Robin also please make a tutorial on your post processing of photos you click . Thanks
Enhorabuena 👏
Another great video Robin. You would make an absolutely fantastic photography teacher if you ever decided to switch careers and go into teaching.
I think it's absolutely shameful how Olympus ended up treating you overall. Such a pity.
Thanks...
A really enjoyable video, which raises a lot of interesting points. I don't think it matters a HOOT that you're no longer a product ambassador. I was a professional photographer for nearly fifty years until my 'official' retirement, and personally, I think NOT being affiliated to a particular company actually gives you more credibility. Because you're not tied to a particular manufacturer, anything you might say that's directly product related carries more weight. Whatever they might say, product endorsees MUST, by nature, display a certain amount of bias - it's human nature to do so. Although I suppose I could be classed as an Olympus user, because I use their camera bodies, I actually only own two Olympus lenses, the others being Lumix or adapted Canon EF/EF-S! I also have a collection of fifty year old manual focus Nikkors, though don't use those much these days. I still can't believe how appallingly you were treated by Olympus/OMD, and the whole business strikes me as an insult not only to yourself but to your country as well. Absolutely shocking. Please keep the videos coming, because they're most enjoyable, and certainly give people like me, in England, an insight into your local surroundings that we wouldn't experience otherwise.
Robin, I would get in line happily to learn your post-processing work flow. I have moved from Lightroom to Capture One but I find the learning curve a bit daunting. I would love to learn how you use C1 Pro.
Robin - so good to see you again online. This and several other recent videos are great! Do you have a general format you are using for the CZcams stuff shot on Olympus? Just wondering if you use OMLog400 or another option. Also, I was curious about your shutter angle settings and typical ND levels used (filters). I am located in Florida and we also have very strong sun (and a lot of rain and heat :-) ) so I suspect a lot of settings that work well for you in video would fit well here too. In the past really preferred RAW (usually Magic Lantern on Canon) due to the super high contrast, but I am testing OMLog400 as well as some non-log direct settings, as I really want to just be able to do it all with my Olympus gear (or OM-1 if I get one later). Your color and contrast are so darn good (on video and stills) it is inspiring. Any insights appreciated! Stay well, keep being you! You are appreciated!
I think Alex (before me) said it all!
As an Olympus guy since the OM film cameras, still having a E-3, I don't plan to replace my OMD-1 mkIII with the new one, not enough changes especially in terms of resolution, lenses yes, camera not yet, when new sensor with at least 30MP but not before, at the moment, for more pixels, I still use my Canon FF camera even I prefer the mft size.
I'm curious to know how you post process your images, Robin Wong style!
Hi Robin. Great video! I know you are using the E-M1 MK3 and 20mm F1.4 to shoot the photos, but what camera and lens are you using for the video? Can you do a video on your two camera photo/video walk setup? Thanks! Love all your stuff!
It would be interesting to see You using a camera like ff !
Great
Sad about your treatment by OM Systems - seems to be typical of corporates that they think being honest and admitting a mistake or error is a major liability
I vote you still do an editing video for your minimalist approach... please please please! I think learning such an approach would be hugely useful to my newbie self.
Yes Robin do a editing video 📸👍please.
Hi Robin, it would be nice to see how to posprocess a Milky way photo taken with Olympus. Greetings from the Czech Republic.
Street photo composition should be an interesting topic.
Hi robin thanks for your nice ohnest videa .. my question please is : which lens adapter you suggest to interchange lenses between olympus om-de-m10 mark ii and olympus E500 ? And if olympus e-p5 lenses goes with the OM -de-m10 ii typically? Thanks robin 😊
I notice you were shooting with the aperture pretty wide, mostly base ISO, very high shutter speeds. Was the aperture setting an intentional artistic choice for depth of field or just a matter of being in an aperture priority mode that wouldn’t require you to tinker with settings much? In daylight I’ve usually followed the “F8 and participate” advice out there, I’m curious if you prefer to go brighter. Thank you!! My favorite channel for photography with my Olympus gear!!
Robin, it doesn't matter that you aren't an "official" ambassador; at the end of the day you're shooting with the same format as I bought into, and what you do with or without OMDS still showcases the product to a high degree, and demonstrates the capabilities of the system against all other systems. What you do is reinforce all of this for potential buyers or existing users. I'm sure a lot of us have thought "if I had a bigger sensor, I might not spend so much time dealing with noise" or "I'd really like to add a bit more detail with a higher resolution sensor" but what you do here on this channel with your photos alone show that gap between formats is pretty damn minimal.
On a second note I have one question, do you prefer shooting with mechanical or electronic shutter? I've started using electronic exlusively for hiking / non-action shots / landscape etc to try and save the wear on the mechanical shutter, and so far can't tell any difference at all in image quality.
I prefer these more honest reviews.without being tied to OM. Being truly independent now . Keep it real . Love your style.
Hi Robin: we need You!
I hope Oly will wake up and understand how important you, and other, influencer’s are to build reputation and knowledge!
Keep doing your great job - we are all impressive with what you have achieved!!!!
You're the BEST, depends on your choice, keep the dignity don6 let them used you!
