Jersey Milk and Honey Bread

- Welcome to #AmbersCountryKitchen! Here's my recipe 🎬 for the #RoyalBreadBakeOff 🍞I've called my creation "Jersey Milk🐮& Honey🐝 Bread". I've included the step-by-step directions so you can give it a try yourselves, because it truly tastes pretty sweet - if I do say so myself!

Jersey Milk and Honey Bread
I had so much fun making this recipe and the bread was SO good my husband and I ate it all in one day…. So… maybe it was a little too good. The bread was made with whole milk from my Jersey cow and I served it with warm local honey and homemade butter - made of course from my Jersey cream!
Ingredients
2 packets of active dry yeast (approx. 2¼ teaspoons)
2.5 cups of warm whole milk (Heated to 110F)
1/3 cup of honey
¼ cup of melted butter
2 teaspoons of salt
7-8 cups of all-purpose flour
Olive oil
Sunflower & Sesame seeds (optional)
What you need
Double Boiler (or create your own)
Mixing bowl with cover
Whisk & Spatula
Baking dishes (x2)
Food thermometer
Oven mitts
Wire cooling rack
STEP ONE: Warm your whole milk in a double boiler until it reaches 110-115F. Pour warm milk in a large bowl (or stand mixer) and add yeast. Whisk together until yeast is fully dissolved. Mix in honey, butter and salt. Add 5 cups of flour and once well combined add remaining flour (or as much as you need to form a nice soft dough).
STEP TWO: Knead your dough on a floured board until it is smooth and elastic (which takes around 6-8 minutes). Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease both sides. Cover and let rise in a warm area until doubled (about an hour).
STEP THREE: Punch your dough back down and break into two loaves. Place loves in greased loaf pans. Cover and let ride again (about 30 minutes).
STEP FOUR: Cover loaves with a drizzle of honey, sunflower and sesame seeds. Place in pre-heated oven at 350F and bake for 30-35 min (until golden brown)
STEP FIVE:
Remove from loaf pans and let cool on a wire rack. Slice and serve!
I grew up with horses, one of the I miss most about living int the city. Big fan of Amber, kiddo (I am 50 so I can say that) keep up the good work. Nice to see a young lady who in spite of the fame does not let it go to her head.

There is nothing like fresh honey on the comb! My Granddad was a master bee keeper and sold it to a local company. Seeing the whole process is facinating! 50 years ago when I was in Elementary I would have Gpa hand me one of the drone bees, they don't sting, and I told my friends it was my pet. I would even put it in my mouth and say that it's my friend and that's why it won't sting me. My Sister has Gpa's old "Honey for Sale" sign in her Guest room which she calls "The 🐝 and 🐝". Most of the gifts I and my 4 Sister's give each other are usually 🐝 related. A Bee hive is also our State symbol, ie Utah in the USA.🤣😂🐝

Ok, my youngest daughter came to visit me from FL. So, we took Ambers magazine, looked at the recipe and started making the bread, we changed it a little by adding 50/50 flour and wheat flour. Everything else stayed the same(including honey). When we got finished, it really tasted good. Thank you Amber for putting the recipe in your magazine. I will post later pictures

I never realized how spoiled we were. Ma made 8 loaves of bread every week. Nothing fancy, just King Arthur flower. Of course we had jersey cows, and allowed man to put his bee hives on our property so there was always plenty of honey. Good job Amy! :-) :-) :-)

Raw and unfiltered honey is the best.
This remind me of my mother’s breads. 7 children and 2 adults and that was a lot of mouths to feed. I remember the Aroma of real bread. Getting that 1st warm slice to toast.
She didn’t do it for long BC it’s a lot of work and back then they didn’t have the mixers.
She never added milk.
But I’ve had milk biscuits.
Of course we’re not supposed to eat bread now BC of the flour. And I rarely do.
