    Lovely to see this, wondering if you have any insights on scope of practice as an agency nurse. I’ve practiced as an LPN all over BC & Alberta but limits on scope in BC motivated me to leave, would love to hear how are you navigating this? Great channel- Thanks!

    • @thenursesage
      @thenursesage  Před rokem

      Hi Jess, the scope of practice is different I’ve only done LTC in BC. The major difference I noticed was the 2nd checks for insulin and giving narcotics (in some places for the narcotics). Also most places I have been will send a resident out if they need any IV including fluids.

    Hi Sage! This was a great video and you're so well spoken. I wanted to ask since it's possible to book assignments months in advance can you go from assignment to assignment for a whole year so that you don't need your own place to rent? It's just with travel nursing you're going to be gone a lot and it seems like a waste to be paying rent for an empty apartment. How do you manage your at home living situation when you aren't working if you don't mind sharing?

    • @thenursesage
      @thenursesage  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Sam! Thank you so much💛 This is a really good question! I’ve heard so many different stories from other travel nurses. I personal stay at my family home when I’m not travelling. However I’ve met a few nurses that packed their things in storage and travelled. Often either extending their contracts, staying for longer periods of time or just having multiple contracts lined up and staying with family or friends if or when they do need to come home. I hope that helps!

    Thank you so much for this video. I am actually studying the RPN program at centennial college and I was thinking to start working as a travel nurse right after graduation before moving on to be an rn. I was just wondering about the licensing. So do u have to get a license for each province. I think I saw something where you can get a Canadian license to practice in all provinces. Have you heard of this. Is this a thing lol? Also for accommodations do they ask if you have a partner or family? Cause I was consider my partner to move with me also. Thank you for this video and sorry for all the questions

    • @thenursesage
      @thenursesage  Před rokem +1

      Hey Isabella, thanks for watching! I haven’t heard of this kind of licence. All the companies I work with require you to get your licence for each province separately. Yes you let them know ahead of time. Most companies your partner will have to pay for their flight but not extra for the living space. Hope that helped 😊

    • @thenursesage
      @thenursesage  Před rokem +2

      I had 2.5 years experience prior to travelling. For new grads I wouldn’t because you usually only get 1 day orientation. You should try to get enough experience to be confident on your own first.

    Hi, thanks so much for sharing not a lot of people talk about their experience traveling within Canada as an LPN/RPN. So it's nice to finally see a video! I went to Seneca. I worked with gifted hands at a LTC in Sudbury for 11 months and return in August of this year. I am considering Travelling again with another agency. I'm thinking B.C or Alberta I am concerned about racism though have you experienced any? and what type of facility do you work at?

    • @thenursesage
      @thenursesage  Před rokem

      Hi Angela! Thank you, I appreciate the support 💛 how was Sudbury? Glad you asked; It was one of my concerns as well because Toronto is very diverse compared to everywhere I’ve been in Canada. I have experienced racist comments a couple times. Blatant ignorant comments about black people twice. But for the most part people are respectful. I also made some friends a few places so I didn’t let it stop me. Of course it’s different when people are starting at you but stare back. I guess I’m saying don’t let ignorant people stop you from trying it out. Let me know if you have more questions definitely email/dm me 🙂
