You forgot to mention that Billy The Kid also met Jesse James and he hung out with his gang he also met Bella starr too and that was the only time he ever hung out with those outlaws wherever they're at in the great beyond they probably just laughing and having a good time
Ò😅@@BrianLamar-es3my
Thank you so much for sticking to the facts instead of all that Brushy BS. This was very well done.
As today, so much corruption back then! I admire Billy the Kid now!
Precisely my thoughts, friend !
It's sad that there are criminals in high places, but "the first shall be last" if power itself is what a man hungers for
Bushy Bill turned out to be a fraud.D.N.A proved that
Another fact that all the movies and stories get wrong is that Tunstil was not a father figure or an older gentleman. In fact he was only 24 when he was killed
I visited a friend in El Paso a few years ago and we went to Lincoln County, NM. It was pretty cool. Tourist trap but I enjoyed it.
1800's had to been such a extremely hard life from beginning to the end
pat garret was such a coward hiding in the dark because he knows if billy has his guns he would already be dead he was also a pupppet for the ring
Great program. Even after all these years the myths and legends continue and if anything grow in the telling
I choose to believe bushy Bill was Billy the kid,and got away 😔
It’s too bad that the corruption back in those days wasn’t recognized any sooner , and Billy the Kid would had been pardoned. Just like today though , the law and these politicians do whatever they want and actually get away with it. Even if it’s at someone else’s expense
I saw an interview with a cousin of Jesse James, Ida. Jesse took on several aliases, and even became a state Congressman. Jesse came out at age around 105 saying that he was the famous outlaw. And, Jesse also knew that Billy had also became an alias and when he died as "Brushy Bill", Ida said that her Cousin Jesse cried and that Jesse knew Billy Dad's from the Civil War, or as the old Timers would call it, The war between the States. Ida called her Cousin Jesse, Uncle Jesse, because he was older and IT was a show of respect. I really enjoyed her interview.
Where is this interview? I'd like to see it
Sounds like a fanciful tale.
There is actually more to indicate that Garrett shot the wrong man than there is to say he killed him. Garrett was about the sketchiest liar of his time
What I don’t understand is there are plenty of pictures of all these other people that wasn’t even as famous as Billy the Kid during the Lincoln county war , but hardly any of Billy. Why ?
This is too much, just gimme Young Guns, I’ll be good.
Go Billy, go, go!
Old Henry is a really good movie.
sadly........the same old tripe ! billy was NOT born in new york, and catherine was his AUNT, NOT his mother !.....as i said, same ol same ol
Billy's younger brother consistently stated he was born in New York in 1863. His stepfather said Catherine's husband died in New York. And all who knew Billy and spoke about it said he was from New York, because that is obviously what he told everyone. This includes Lew Wallace, a federal postal inspector that interviewed Billy in jail, as well as Ash Upson and Pat Garrett. I know what your source is, but even Morrison and Sonnichsen stated they could not prove any of this to be true, and nothing more than what the derelict Brushy Bill told them, sans any actual documentation or evidence. Meanwhile, Brushy's family has always maintained that he lived with various relatives virtually his whole life, still under his father's roof well into his twenties. But keep driving the fantasy, as it is very entertaining if absurd and silly.
Billy got away, then he did the buster scraggs thing for a few years, got out of that silly stuff after that last gun fight and stuck around as old Henry...but i read a story in the '60s he made it to the gangster '20s and shot up some guys protecting a young girl, when he was an old man...thats all i know..
I like to work out in my home gym and watch documentaries like this........although really good video, its super fu%*ng annoying when a commercial plays every 45 seconds 😕
It's still the only known photo.
A second photo was found on accident. Some guy bought what he thought was just a cool old tin picture. He got curious about its origin and got some “experts” to research and authenticate it.
Turns out in the background of that cool old tin picture, Billy is playing croquet with Pals.
True story. Look it up.

I actually laughed out loud when I read about it. If someone told me about the picture, then asked me to guess what he could have been doing in the background…Croquet would not have made my top 100.
Alot of this is true, except, Pat Garrett never killed Billy the kid. He shot a Mexican and dumped him in the whole., buried him quickly, and claimed it was Billy. Only Pat Garrett knew what Billy the Kid looked like. Billy got away. Do some research and look at the actual historical documents that show those who knew Billy recognized him years later as Brushy Bill.
Yeah if you want to believe that Billy was killed and then in 1882 a good friend of his Jesse James met the same fate only by a cowardly move also Billy the kid and Jesse James met for the only times whatever happened during that 2 months when Jesse James was on the one only those two know
People always want to know something others do not. Billy was killed. Brushy BIll was a liar. And whole means complete
@lancemorgan3400 you need to do some reading.
Brushy bill wasn't Billy the kid
brushy not billie
seems he spoke three languages, Irish certainly, English and Spanish
You do know that they speak english in Ireland! Celtic gaelish is an ancient almost dead language that hasn’t been regularly spoken since 1400’s!
@@ChristopherHughIm Irish, most Irish people have a certain level of the Irish language, quite a few are fluent. The language is far from dead and it is highly likely that Billy's mothers first language was Irish, passing it onto him..
@@buanobas9122 Thanks for the clarification!
@@ChristopherHugh Actually, in parts of Ireland the Irish language is primary, English the second language. This is true still today. I know of no evidence that Henry McCarty learned Irish as a child, but it is not unreasonable. It might well have been spoken among many in the slums of New York.
That's quite remarkable. He doesn't even look like paul newman
Why do they tell it that Wallace gave Billy a chance of pardon ? Why don’t they tell it just as it was and say that Wallace screwed Billy over
I think Wallace was jealous of the attention Billy was getting. While he was in "jail" preparing to testify as promised, Wallace wrote of how the folks would come and make much of Billy, because they loved him so. Pretty sure Wallace never respected Billy and just used him, maybe never intending to honor the promise made.
@@Rollin_L I like and would agree with your point of view. Jealousy drives a lot of bad people into doing bad things. What don’t really surprise me is that fact that politicians back in those days were just as dirty as they are now.
0:06 [subtitle] familiar from calculus hollywood movies
They have recently found I think 2 more photos of him . One of him standing in front of a house with some of the regulators
Relocated to Indianapolis, started a laundry business and bought land? I’m not sure but I thought I’d heard that happened in Kansas. I might be wrong🤷🏻♂
Yep, it was Wichita Kansas
Audie Murphy probably killed 20 times more. Compared to Audie, Billy must have been an Amateur. They were about the same age when they became famous but Audie saw life different even though his father left the family also. If it were possible for Billy and Audie to have been friends what would their lives have been like, And who would have been incharge?
Even though Pat Garrett a well known gun slinger and was as much an outlaw as Billy The Kid, he had two others with him.
Also, in hiding at his last place, the owner was said to call for Pat Garrett to get Billy because he did not like Billy seeing his sister.
It is very believable that Pat Garrett literally killed a Mexican deliberately and dumped him into a hole and claimed it was Billy The Kid.
Many never realized that Billy The Kid was from New York that was all open country at that time.
Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York was all open cow country. Talking about what is mow called Flatbush Avenue near Erasmus Hall High School (a replica of Oxford Univerdity) as early as the early 1900s. You must see the true pictures and not those pictures shown in this documentary.
no pat Garrett was not known to be a gun slinger he was a Buffalo hunter and a known lier
@@dennisdonovan2735 Name one lie told by Pat Garrett and provide a legitimate source for your claim.
What movie is this from?
Looks like the Billy the Kid series on Amazon Prime.
ATF gave him "MALINOWSKI" treatment incognito
Garrett did not kill the kid. No photos of the kids shot dead body. No dead kid.
Aw, you mean Pat Garrett didn't take out his Kodak Instamatic and snap a picture of the body in the dark of night with his flash cube? This is just so dumb. Fort Sumner was a tiny village of 200 people. No doctor in town, no lawyer, certainly no photographer. Cameras were not owned by regular folk in 1881. It has been well documented that the nearest photographer was in Las Vegas, a 2-3 day ride in each direction. There would have been nothing but mush of any body in the July New Mexico heat after 5 or 6 days. What you are ignorant of is the fact that a handful of celebrated photos of dead outlaws in that time are outweighed by the hundreds or thousands of dead outlaws who didn't get their portraits taken. It was a very uncommon thing in reality. You had 200 villagers and other New Mexicans who saw the body, most all of whom knew Billy on sight. The standard procedure of the day was a Coroner's Jury, which was organized, signed off by both friends and enemies of the Kid, and that was the standard proof of the day required for all legal purposes. End of story.
Is it me or Billy looks like Ian Gallagher
Pat killed Billy Barlow and rushed the burial to pass him off as the kid. With all the supposed trouble he caused, his death would've been put on public display to show what you get when you cross the Santa Fe ring. Garrett couldn't even collect the reward. It was lies. Billy became Brushy Bill and passed away from old age.
Delusional. Pat Garrett gave the Acting Governor proof of the Kid's death just days after the killing, with his request for the $500 reward. The problem was that there was never a Territorial government offer of a reward, rather a personal offer from Lew Wallace published once in a newspaper, and Wallace had since resigned. The Acting Governor and the Attorney General even interviewed the newspaper editor, and determined that a special accommodation would be needed to pay from territorial treasury funds, so that it was 100% legal. In fact, the territorial legislature passed specific legislation, declaring that Pat Garrett had indeed killed the Kid and given ample proof, and authorizing the $500 reward. This is literally in the New Mexico government records, thoroughly documented.
Billy Barlow is a fabrication of Brushy Bill's, end of story. The only person with that name in the region was two years old at the time, which makes him the same age as Brushy, interestingly. By the way, Billy's body WAS put on public display, for several hours in Fort Sumner, for all the village to see. Billy's own friends cleaned and dressed him, built a coffin and dug the grave. Well known members of the village (such as Paulita Maxwell and Jesus Silva) stated that virtually the whole population, around 200 people, saw Billy's body and attended his funeral. This is thoroughly documented from eyewitness testimony and sworn statements. Nothing you claim has a single piece of historic documentation. Not one page. But keep believing that religion. It helps keep the rest of us entertained.
@Rollin_L Brett Hall has more evidence than your same fabrications. Sorry but Garrett was a proven lair and a coward.
Yoo hoo I'll make you famous
😊 3:01 😊
actually you told the story wrong poe told garret he shot the wrong man
When did Poe say that? It's a trick question. If you have actually READ what Poe and Garrett wrote, you will have the correct answer. If you don't, it will prove you never read their actual words and have no f-ing clue what you are talking about, Dennis the Menace.

what movie is being used in this video?
Several older films about the Kid, including some scenes from unrelated movies, I believe
Billy the kid on Apple TV series from 2020-2023 it was good that’s why I ended up here trying to see if there was a new season

Ok... I'll fall for it
No, that was J. Frank Dalton. 🤣
Misleading title, all this is a narrative of MGM series, Young Guns, and other movies.
Just watch any of those, nothing new here.
You never .e tinned Wichita Kansas. So you missed lot
So much fiction
His name was William Henry McCarty that is why he was called Billy. He had no brother Joseph was his step brother.
He was a crazed killer.
Pat Garrett was the Hero.
You may be right on his original name, but there is no evidence Joseph was a step brother. Both were sons of Catherine McCarty by all accounts known, including that of stepfather William H. Antrim. Some have claimed Billy had a different father, but that is only speculation and not based on any known evidence. Pat Garrett lived by the gun and died by it as well. He killed nearly as many men as the Kid, and with no more legal authority. He shot without warning, admitting to giving orders to do so for his posse members. Billy Bonney was carrying warrants and was a deputy Constable during most of the killings attributed to him during the Lincoln County War. You didn't know that, did you? Justice of the Peace John Wilson issued the warrants and Constable Atanacio Martinez deputized Billy and other Regulators. According the U.S. Marshal Service Historian, David Turk, Billy Bonney was also deputized as a Federal Deputy Marshal by Robert Widenmann, and a record of this exists in the National Archives listing Bonney as part of the Marshal's posse. Historical fact, jack.
No wander he was a great shot. Look at his eyes he could see the future with them eyeballs. Billy the frog
I know his birthday he left a memior
Hate to blow your bubble, Pat Garret never killed Billy the Kid. .
Well if it were not for the whole 200 member population of Fort Sumner having seen Billy's body at the public wake and attended the funeral, you might have something. The bubble bursting is yours, pal.
Billy the kid died of old age as brushy bill
was it really necessary to blur the shot of an actor from a tv show playing dead? that just another weird AI thing? are any humans involved in these videos at all?
