    I saw an interview with a cousin of Jesse James, Ida. Jesse took on several aliases, and even became a state Congressman. Jesse came out at age around 105 saying that he was the famous outlaw. And, Jesse also knew that Billy had also became an alias and when he died as "Brushy Bill", Ida said that her Cousin Jesse cried and that Jesse knew Billy Dad's from the Civil War, or as the old Timers would call it, The war between the States. Ida called her Cousin Jesse, Uncle Jesse, because he was older and IT was a show of respect. I really enjoyed her interview.

      Billy's younger brother consistently stated he was born in New York in 1863. His stepfather said Catherine's husband died in New York. And all who knew Billy and spoke about it said he was from New York, because that is obviously what he told everyone. This includes Lew Wallace, a federal postal inspector that interviewed Billy in jail, as well as Ash Upson and Pat Garrett. I know what your source is, but even Morrison and Sonnichsen stated they could not prove any of this to be true, and nothing more than what the derelict Brushy Bill told them, sans any actual documentation or evidence. Meanwhile, Brushy's family has always maintained that he lived with various relatives virtually his whole life, still under his father's roof well into his twenties. But keep driving the fantasy, as it is very entertaining if absurd and silly.

    Even though Pat Garrett a well known gun slinger and was as much an outlaw as Billy The Kid, he had two others with him.
    Also, in hiding at his last place, the owner was said to call for Pat Garrett to get Billy because he did not like Billy seeing his sister.
    It is very believable that Pat Garrett literally killed a Mexican deliberately and dumped him into a hole and claimed it was Billy The Kid.
    Many never realized that Billy The Kid was from New York that was all open country at that time.
    Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York was all open cow country. Talking about what is mow called Flatbush Avenue near Erasmus Hall High School (a replica of Oxford Univerdity) as early as the early 1900s. You must see the true pictures and not those pictures shown in this documentary.

      @Rollin_L Před 6 dny

      Aw, you mean Pat Garrett didn't take out his Kodak Instamatic and snap a picture of the body in the dark of night with his flash cube? This is just so dumb. Fort Sumner was a tiny village of 200 people. No doctor in town, no lawyer, certainly no photographer. Cameras were not owned by regular folk in 1881. It has been well documented that the nearest photographer was in Las Vegas, a 2-3 day ride in each direction. There would have been nothing but mush of any body in the July New Mexico heat after 5 or 6 days. What you are ignorant of is the fact that a handful of celebrated photos of dead outlaws in that time are outweighed by the hundreds or thousands of dead outlaws who didn't get their portraits taken. It was a very uncommon thing in reality. You had 200 villagers and other New Mexicans who saw the body, most all of whom knew Billy on sight. The standard procedure of the day was a Coroner's Jury, which was organized, signed off by both friends and enemies of the Kid, and that was the standard proof of the day required for all legal purposes. End of story.

    Pat killed Billy Barlow and rushed the burial to pass him off as the kid. With all the supposed trouble he caused, his death would've been put on public display to show what you get when you cross the Santa Fe ring. Garrett couldn't even collect the reward. It was lies. Billy became Brushy Bill and passed away from old age.

    • @Rollin_L
      @Rollin_L Před 6 dny

      Delusional. Pat Garrett gave the Acting Governor proof of the Kid's death just days after the killing, with his request for the $500 reward. The problem was that there was never a Territorial government offer of a reward, rather a personal offer from Lew Wallace published once in a newspaper, and Wallace had since resigned. The Acting Governor and the Attorney General even interviewed the newspaper editor, and determined that a special accommodation would be needed to pay from territorial treasury funds, so that it was 100% legal. In fact, the territorial legislature passed specific legislation, declaring that Pat Garrett had indeed killed the Kid and given ample proof, and authorizing the $500 reward. This is literally in the New Mexico government records, thoroughly documented.
      Billy Barlow is a fabrication of Brushy Bill's, end of story. The only person with that name in the region was two years old at the time, which makes him the same age as Brushy, interestingly. By the way, Billy's body WAS put on public display, for several hours in Fort Sumner, for all the village to see. Billy's own friends cleaned and dressed him, built a coffin and dug the grave. Well known members of the village (such as Paulita Maxwell and Jesus Silva) stated that virtually the whole population, around 200 people, saw Billy's body and attended his funeral. This is thoroughly documented from eyewitness testimony and sworn statements. Nothing you claim has a single piece of historic documentation. Not one page. But keep believing that religion. It helps keep the rest of us entertained.

      @Rollin_L Před 6 dny

      You may be right on his original name, but there is no evidence Joseph was a step brother. Both were sons of Catherine McCarty by all accounts known, including that of stepfather William H. Antrim. Some have claimed Billy had a different father, but that is only speculation and not based on any known evidence. Pat Garrett lived by the gun and died by it as well. He killed nearly as many men as the Kid, and with no more legal authority. He shot without warning, admitting to giving orders to do so for his posse members. Billy Bonney was carrying warrants and was a deputy Constable during most of the killings attributed to him during the Lincoln County War. You didn't know that, did you? Justice of the Peace John Wilson issued the warrants and Constable Atanacio Martinez deputized Billy and other Regulators. According the U.S. Marshal Service Historian, David Turk, Billy Bonney was also deputized as a Federal Deputy Marshal by Robert Widenmann, and a record of this exists in the National Archives listing Bonney as part of the Marshal's posse. Historical fact, jack.
