This is so beautiful! As a Nigerian Yoruba we don’t have much of a pre-childbirth tradition/celebration but we have an elaborate naming tradition. It so cool to see Kalpa’s family usher her into motherhood this way. It makes me want to do something similar for my daughter. Tom is a gem in how he values his wife’s culture. I can’t wait to see them celebrate naming Nigerian style. What a blessing to be able to enjoy both cultures through your lives. Thank you for sharing. Loved the traditional ceremony of all the women in kalpa’s family blessing her for motherhood. I literally shade a tear at how beautiful it was , very rich in culture and significance .she indeed looked beautiful. Loved these Chennai vlogs very intimate and memorable. This baby shower, If I am not wrong is traditionally called Simantoyana/Simanta, one of the 16 Samskaras of every Hindu's life( practiced since the Vedic eras about 1800-2000BC).
It signifies prosperity for the household, unending love from husband/in laws and safe delivery. So glad, you went the traditional way too, we would also like to see more celebrations in the future.
