      I don't know if those sources who keep changing on his behalf should be trusted more though, people both exxagerate and understate situations like this. Best to leave it to police than speculate online. We know far to little for people to have these strong opinions and in my own personal opinion I think EBU reacted appeopriately. I don't know what other "punishment" would be appropriate. Easier to just disqualify him than deal with a bunch of choices that may look inadequate if he's quilty.
      I just also find it difficult to believe that artists in the biggest song contest in the world and such a large event can ask to avoid cameras, why are you participating in such an event if you can't accept cameras around you? Just sounds strange to me. I feel like it's something you accept when you participate in the event.

    • @emil9528
      @emil9528 Před měsícem +9

      @@rebeccamadsen4509 I understand your perspective which is completely in line with today's cancel culture. A good conversation between Joost and The Camera Woman could have avoided a lot of hassle. According to AVROTROS, The Camera Woman did not contribute in any way to a professional conversation. Remember that everyone is under tremendous pressure for this event. When someone does not follow the rules and ignores warnings then such incidents occur. In my eyes not pretty but human. Among other things, Joost/AVROTROS wanted to publicly apologize. But the camerawoman rejected all good intentions.
      With this cancel policy of the EBU you are completely unsafe as an artist. You just have to put up with any provocative behavior. Otherwise you will be reported and disqualified. So I do not know if such rules really contribute to a safer working environment....

    • @rebeccamadsen4509
      @rebeccamadsen4509 Před měsícem +1

      @@emil9528 Yea sure, I'm not really into the theory of cancel culture as I have seen it in social media where people do or say things ages ago and get punished for it or simply for having differing opinions to what's popular.
      First of all I must say I haven't read much about how esc works behind the scenes but I do also think with such a big event and management you want to try and avoid unecessary hassle is the best way I can put it.
      I also do think that removing someone from an event because of an incident at the event (which I don't think is as cut and clear as everyone makes it out to be, I don't think we have all the info at all and don't really trust either avrotros or ebu in what's right or wrong, in this case I think it's up to police), I do think it is okay whereas when someone get's cancelled from an event because of a tweet or because they did or supported something outside of the event if you get my meaning (apart from criminal acts of course).
      But I stand by that I don't think we have the full story. I don't know how contracts work in eurovision or how the ebu operates but I think there's more to this story than this and it could very well be just a huge misunderstanding, people are human after all. But (and I'm not saying you or any specific person does this it's just what I assumt is happening) taking Kleins and his teams words as ultimate truth on how he acted and how the photographer acted seems biased in some way. The fact that the recording is easily accessible and to be showed (because it was a camerawoman) and for them to take so long to consider (if it was a true threat it would have been easily brought out way earlier with facts and all) does bring up the question what other factors made them disqualify Joost. From the little info I have, they make it sound like a reporter/camera lady was "harassing" Joost and he got upset about it. Kind of normal behavior in the celebrity world. Like that time Tom Hank yelled at a crowed of people that knocked into his wife.
      But again, I don't know the full story, and it sounds like we may never know.

      An official Dutch delegation made this statement. It's pretty serious when the Netherlands sends these people and in my lifetime I have not heard of them releasing false statements, plus since there is clear footage of the incident it would be an enormous blunder for them to make a false statement and would most likely result in them losing their high level job. Which I doubt they would want to risk just to save Joost his reputation. So regarding facts this is as close as you are gonna get, probably more trustworthy than a statement from the local Police or EBU for that matter.

  • @annmariebarratt4213
    @annmariebarratt4213 Před měsícem +3

    As far as we know, this is the news in The Netherlands;
    Joost left the stage after the half finals.
    He was emotional (understandable) and did not want the cameras filming him at that moment.
    He already had said that he did not liked been filmed 24/7 the moment he got there.
    Yess, he had signed a contract, apparently all contestants are following around and filmed the whole time they were there.
    Both sides were trying to work out what would ‘work’ for both sides!
    So he knew this, they only point was, he did not want the camera straight in his face after his performance, cause it was emotional to him (his song is a tribute to his parents who he lost at a young age)
    The film crew could of filmed him from a distance, they could of filmed his background dancers, the big blue bird that was with him, they could of done so many things and still get there clip.
    So Joost made a ‘threatening’ jester by swinging his arm as if he was going to hit the camera lady.
    She felt threatened and the laws of in Sweden are if you feel threatened, it is a crime, so the police are involved.
    That’s the whole story that we got here in Holland.
    Joost himself has not made any comment jet. I
    The Dutch broadcasting company (AVRO) will make an complaint to wards they EBU, cause they don’t agree either!
    This has nothing to do with Israel!
    Look, I’m not for Isreal, but fair is fair!
    In this case, they have nothing to do with this situation.
    Hope you all are more up to date on this🤞😊🤞
    And for all you fans out there……….

    He was approched by the camera person, even though there was an agreement to not film the performers after they came offstage. There must be images of the incident! They asked not to be filmed several times, then made a 'threatening' move to the camera...
    We know from the broadcaster that he didn't touch the woman...
    Logical conclusion; Most likely the camera got damaged, otherwise this wouldn't be such an issue, neither with the EBU or police...
    Even Broken camera images can be retreived by the police, unless it had a literal acid bath, or the images were manually deleted... Or when the cameraperson used a phone, and claims privqcy/ no access...
    Still the question remains: why did the EBU not protect the preformers? Multiple countries (Ireland, Lithuania, UK, Netherlands for sure!) have complained about improprieties and harassment backstage! They failed to protect the artists and delegations!
    And not to even mention the division between Azerbaijan, Israel and Russia... Why is the last one excluded, if it's about the broadcasters, and the first two aren't??? These countries all have committed warcrimes and genocide in recent years!
    Anyways; the booing around Israel and Lithuania wasn't perse for their acts! They played right after the time that the disqualified Netherlands 🇳🇱 should have preformed! The audience boo-ed that.
    For Israel there might've been booing regarding the injustice as well, but it seemed mostly for Joost klein, as Europappa was heard throughout the audience before, during and after Israel's preformance.

    Is anyone rich enough to make a Eurovision Festival with the Real winner and FanFavourites with bands from Italy(2021), Finland(2023), Netherland and Croatia (2024) and some more Fan Favourites? This would be 1000x better as the shit the jury decided what is best.

    It's not even the poor guys fault, that woman overreacted AF. They probably would of placed high if they didn't get disqualified 😢

    Just to understand. Israel sent a song and had to change the name and some lines because it was political, it is proportional to kick out of the competition, but to remove an artist who threatens a woman is not? interesting

      Define 'threaten'. They said that he only made gesture towards the camera because he didn't want to be filmed (which was also agreed upon)

      The cameraman's gender is completely irrelevant.
      Israel has killed tens of thousands of civilians and is torturing captives as we speak. That's a war crime.

      She invaded his privacy and harassed him, he made a threatening comment and allegedly was violent but they're refusing to elaborate any further leading me to believe that they've already realised they made the wrong decision.
      Joost probably acted out of frustration rather than genuine intent because of the ongoing harassment by the crew member, and to be honest after being told to stop multiple times and the crew member continuing to go out him-
      I believe it was completely the crew members fault but he also should not have made that remark.

    It's quite a coincidence that there are no camera images of it. The EBU had this destroyed. If there were images, this would exonerate Joost and the EBU would to look like a fool
