  • In this video, you understand Maintenance Free Earthing! This video is a must-watch for anyone interested in understanding the ins and outs of earthing, particularly the revolutionary Maintenance Free Earthing system.
In the first few minutes, we'll explore the fundamental concept of earthing, also known as grounding. This process involves transferring electrical charges to the ground through low-resistance rods or earth electrodes, ensuring rapid discharge of stored energy. We'll compare two main types of earthing: Maintenance Free Earthing and Conventional Earthing, with a special focus on the former.
Maintenance Free Earthing is a groundbreaking system that eliminates the need for regular upkeep, thanks to the use of an Earth Enhancing Compound and high-quality Earth Rods and Earth Pits. These components are resistant to corrosion and degradation, making Maintenance Free Earthing systems more reliable and longer-lasting than traditional earthing systems.
We'll then delve into why Maintenance Free Earthing outperforms conventional earthing. Traditional earthing systems, which use layers of salt and charcoal, degrade over time due to corrosion of the earth electrodes. In contrast, Maintenance Free Earthing systems are more effective at dissipating fault currents, have a longer lifespan of over 15 to 20 years, and are recommended by Earthing Experts.
The video also highlights the additional benefits of Maintenance Free Earthing, including cost savings and durability. These systems are made with specialized materials that can withstand harsh environmental conditions, making them suitable for a variety of applications.
We'll also discuss the role of backfill, also known as Earth Enhancing Compound, in Maintenance Free Earthing. This material, which fills the area around an earth electrode, is crucial for the reliability and effectiveness of the earthing system. Its hygroscopic property allows it to absorb and retain moisture, preventing the earthing system from drying out and ensuring its proper functioning.
Lastly, we'll talk about the use of Copper Bonded Rods in Maintenance Free Earthing. These rods, made with 99.9% pure electrolytic copper, are more conductive and durable than traditional pipe earthing, contributing to the long-term reliability of the earthing system.
At Axis, we manufacture and supply a wide range of Earthing materials like Earth Rods, Earth Plates, Strips, Clamps, Earth Pits, and other accessories. Our solutions are used for Substations Earthing, Solar Earthing, and simple residential and commercial structures.

Please can one use Cooper wire in earth grounding?

Copper wire can be used, but sizing needs to be determined by the fault current.

Is it good to use cement to cover the top layer of the earthing after installation?

      Hi Chinwendu,
It is advisable to use Earth Pits instead of cement.
Plastic Earth Pits are high-grade polypropylene pits for high strength and stress levels, it also withstands a load of 2000 kg.

thank you , sir when we should use T1 , T2 or T3 SPD ? and how we choose KA ? for example , when we use 20KA or 100 KA ?

    • @AxisElectrical
      @AxisElectrical  Před rokem +2

T1, T2, and T3 we are considering it as Type 1, Type 2 & Type 3. Mainly the types are selected based on the location of the SPD.
Type 1 SPD is designed especially to handle lightning surges so it is usually installed on the main incoming points.
Then Type 2 is designed specifically for switching surges therefore it will be installed after type 1 spds to protect equipment from surges happening because of welding machines, capacitor bank switching etc.
Then type 3 SPD is used for fine protection to handle equipment with lower impulse level voltage location at plug point areas.
For each type, the SPD KA rating is almost predetermined hence priority needs to be given to selecting the type of SPD instead of the KA rating. KA rating may be used for comparing SPDs of the same type to see which is better still, the Voltage Protection Level of SPD plays a vital role.
