    Israel has withdrawn from Khan Younis so its residents who fled to Rafah can return home, decreasing the population of Rafah, making its invasion less problematic.

    Israel has been hiding its casualty numbers. The IDF is equipped as a land army, designed to fight another army on a battlefield. The shattered landscape of Gaza provides the perfect battleground for guerilla fighters, ie, the Gazan Resistance. The IDF has no tactical response to guerilla warfare that is effective. The Resistance is a resourceful group that has been picking off IDF personnel in big numbers and destroying or incapacitating IDF armed vehicles of all kinds. The IDF realised it had to withdraw to prevent total disaster.

      @Nonconscious Před 2 měsíci

      The invasion of Israel by five Arab armies on its first day of creation in 1948 stemmed from various factors, including historical, political, and territorial disputes surrounding the establishment of the State of Israel.One significant factor was the long-standing conflict between Jewish and Arab communities in Palestine. The partition plan proposed by the United Nations in 1947, which aimed to divide Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states, was rejected by Arab leaders who viewed the establishment of a Jewish state on what they considered to be Arab land as illegitimate.Additionally, the Arab states feared that the creation of Israel would destabilize the region and threaten their own interests. They were concerned about the influx of Jewish immigrants and the potential displacement of Palestinian Arabs from their homes.Furthermore, Arab leaders were emboldened by their belief that they could swiftly defeat the newly formed Israeli military forces. They underestimated Israel's military capabilities and overestimated their own strength, leading them to launch a coordinated invasion in an attempt to prevent the establishment of the Jewish state.Ultimately, the invasion resulted in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, which lasted for over a year and ended with armistice agreements rather than a decisive victory for either side. The conflict laid the groundwork for decades of ongoing tensions and disputes in the region.

      That said, the forces moved were not enormous, but they likely could have done more to stem the tide.
      The fact of the matter is the IDF troops were over run. Hamas got lucky with the redeployment, and they got lucky that the new IDF communications system doesn't have backups ready, so when they took out the new comms towers it created a distribution that was extensive. Troops were getting on cellphones to call to bases, it was that bad.
      Just about everything the Israelis could have had to wrong for them that day went wrong.
      Now, however, the thing that's going wrong for them is their allies. The criticism that they haven't won yet is coming from the same corners that keep holding them back, as they do every single war. This could have been over by now

    The only reason it's taken so long is that the West is determined to prevent Israel from finishing off Hamas. The death toll on the Israeli side has been miraculously low and the combatant to civilians ratio is estimated to be 1,2 - 1,6 civilians to every combatant. In comparison the US and British forces in Iraq was 1 to 8 and in Afghanistan 1 to 6. From the start, the IDF said it needed one year at least to defeat an enemy in one of the most populated places on earth with 17 years of preparation to construct its defences, which includes a 500km underground military tunnel network.

      The difference is that the US and British forces tried to remove the terrorists while keeping the deaths of the innocent population as low as they could. The IDF however considers its lives more important than the innocent Gazans and so has used tactics that maximise the safety of the IDF at the cost of local civilians, e.g., destroying all the buildings and infrastructure before moving in.

    The Israeli Air Force is very well funded and operated, they will never run out of resources, but Infantry and Armored brigades might even be called to fight without basic necessities like food or medical supplies. A lot of the basics are covered by civilians and donations and it's expected because the IDF isn't organized for long wars.

      The "Palestinians" are a mid-1960's creation of the Russian KGB.
      "...the false Arab narrative that the Holy Land had a reasonably large population of Arabs prior to the first Zionist settlement (1882). In fact, many Western visitors to that region prior to 1882 describe a land that was desolate and deserted with practically no vegetation and very few inhabitants outside of the towns that were small and shabby. Most of the privately-held land was in the hands of a few extremely wealthy Arab owners that lived outside of that territory in cities like Cairo, Beirut and Damascus. They offered to the Jews the worst of those lands to buy at exorbitant prices. But the Jews ended up buying 90,000 acres and turned them into productive farmlands. This was something totally outside of the Arab mindset. (To date the Israelis have planted 250,000,000 trees.) Once the Arabs from neighboring countries saw the prosperity the Jews were created they began mass migrating into that region."
      "between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese there are no differences. We are all part of one people, the Arab nation [...] Just for political reasons we carefully underwrite our Palestinian identity. Because it is of national interest for the Arabs to advocate the existence of Palestinians to balance Zionism. Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity exists only for tactical reasons", Zuheir Mohsen, "Palestinian" leader, March 1977 interview with the Dutch newspaper Trouw
      The Philistines bear NO ethnic relation whatsoever to the so-called "Palestinians", who are not really Palestinians, because "Palestinian" is neither an ethnicity nor a nationality. It's all a made up Taqiyyah lie by the Arabs and their sponsors at the Russian Communist KGB.
      "Who can challenge the rights of the Jews in Palestine? Good Lord, HISTORICALLY IT IS REALLY YOUR COUNTRY..." Yusuf Diya al-Khalidi, Arab Mayor of Jerusalem, 1829

    It did NOT begin on October 7. It began in 1948 with the atrocities that the State of Israel committed and has committed ever since. And we should never forget that.
