I absolutely love Scandinavian stamps! The sender also created an outstanding cover. I'll have to check to see if I have that 1982 church one! 🤩
On the stereotypes, back when I was in my 30s, I drove a Volvo. My wife mentioned this with my stamp collecting at work and someone said, "He's HOW old"? 😅😅😅
Thanks for watching and for sharing such a great story.
I am the Norwegian guy who sent that envelope to to you, Smokey. I was pretty shocked when that envelope turned up on CZcams today, but also pleased that you liked the cover and the stamps. I have followed your channel for a while, and have some Norwegian stamps laying around. So when I joined the post crossing club just before Christmas I made an envelope for you as well. The envelope is stamped by the philatelic service of the Norwegian post organization (Postverket) in Oslo. I did collect stamps previously. I am still interested, though, especially in older engraved stamps. With landscapes, architecture and similar. I have been hiking a lot in southern Europe (France, Spain...) so that is my area of interest.
Thank you so very much for the very generous gift of stamps!! I like the stamps very much and I am excited to add them to my collection. The King Olav V stamps are particularly wonderful. Once again, thank you and thanks for watching my channel!
Smokey, Another great presentation. Learn alot from you and have been collecting stamps since 1971. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the lovely comment and for watching! I am glad you enjoy the videos.
That is a beautiful surprise and a kind gesture by the sender. I have a small number of stamps from Norway possibly due to the fact I do not have a friend there yet, but then again they have some lovely releases and that I found familiar on this particular episode showcase.
It was a great surprise to receive all of these wonderful stamps. Thanks so much for watching!
Since starting to sort the world lots and mixes I bought over time, I am also accumulating Norwegian stamps, but not a lot. Nice gift with good selection of Norwegian stamps you were gifted. Thanks for showing them to us, Smokey. 🙂
Thank you, Charnie! I really appreciate your support and encouragement of my channel!

Hello from Alma Center
Howdy! So pleased to see a "neighbor" watching the channel.
that 5KR with the 3 stamps depicts KING OLAV V[5th] b 1903 in ENGLAND and King from 1957.His birth name is ALEXANDER EDWARD CHRISTIAN FREDERICK.One of his predecessors OLAV II b995-1030? asc 1015 -1028. was canonized in 1164 the patron saint of Norway.
Thanks so much for the Information! They are wonderful stamps.
The accepted usage period for Norwegian commemorative stamps is within 1-2 years of issue, according to the official Norwegian stamp catalogue "Norgeskatalogen". To clarify - old stamps are still valid for postage, but the used value is erased. Unfortunately, most (stamp-collecting) sellers of online stamp auctions love franking covers with decade-old stock when mailing letters. Speaking for myself, modern usage of old commemoratives end in the trash. Using such old stamps is a nuisance that fortunately non-stamp collectors haven't adopted - they go to the post office instead 😀
I did not know this, thanks so much for the Information and for watching the channel.
Bye the way, Smokey, I should tell you, but forgot, that "Hilsen" is not my name, it just means "Greetings" in my language.
So sorry for the confusion, thank you so much for the clarification. Have a wonderful weekend!
