    Hi Chris! I think you did a good bargain buy. I checked and new Nederland Davo albums can cost up to 100 Euro and you paid 20 Euro each for those three albums PLUS the large amount of mostly mint stamps! I agree, I largely think I don't like albums, including Davo, that "forces" you to collect certain stamps and formats of stamps. It is very restrictive. I am not at that stage yet, but I think eventually I would like to print my own pages. I just find, for me, stamp mounts are quite expensive. Maybe I might win the large lotto, then I am free to buy anything my heart desires. 😀 Thanks for the great video! It is very progressive to be able to use two cameras. 🙂

      Hi Charnie. I agree with you on not liking the Davo albums. I prefer the way I plan and collect in stockbooks. And printing own album pages is something I'd be interested in also. Davo is very limiting, not a lot of varieties and additional pages cost a lot. Thank you about mentioning the cameras. It is a bit more work to do it this way, but I think it adds variety.

    Very nice, Chris. I think you got a good deal. If it was me, I'd mix/swop the pages you got from your other albums with these ones to make 3 nice albums.

      I did that, but I already sold the albums again. I made this episode way in advance. I don't like the clear cut Davo albums in hindsight. But it was good to see and feel them.

    Chris, that was certainly a good deal. I agree with you about the Davo and other similar albums in that it forces you to collect the stamps according to their way. I personally create my own pages. I would have used the other set to collect used copies.

      Hey Daniel. Yep, I miss the flexibility and it is a simplified collection mostly. Not that I am an expert on my other areas of interest, but I like to be able to collect varietes or pairs or something when I want. Honestly, I already sold them, which I will tell in a future episode. It also felt like cheating, buying almost a complete collecting from 1969-1997. It was a good lesson anyway.

    Hi Chris. Good deal, think. I also agree that the empty album could be used for used stamps. It would worry me that the start/finish dates in the two sets of albums don’t align.
    I also find that getting a completed album leaves me “robbed of the hunt” experience.
    I like the concept of preprinted albums, but find that Lighthouse albums tend to include more varieties. So I switched away from Davo to Lighthouse for the two countries I collect.
    Thanks for the good videos!

      Hi Jonathan. That comment about 'robbed of the hunt' experience is spot on. That is how I felt. I like filling in gaps by hunting for stamps and not actually knowing when you find those stamps. 'The struggle' is part of the fun, huge part. It felt that these albums were presented to me on a silver platter. It felt too easy and it was. I already sold them because of this reason and also because I have enough areas of intetrests to occupy me. I shall check the Lighthouse albums. I find the Davo albums too limiting also. Thanks for your comment and for watching!

    I think you got a great bargain. Complete albums that someone has spent time collecting are a joy to own.

      @chrislovesstamps  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Hi Michael. In a sense they are. I just found that these albums were too advanced as in how far they already were. The section 1969-1997 were pretty much complete and the few stamps that were missing were not expensive.

    Nice albums and great for the price! Yeah - albums can be a bit tricky sometimes. I use Minkus Global albums which are the most complete of the large world albums but I dislike how definitive sets get separated. So I just put those onto stock pages as sub-collections. I also enjoy collecting older definitive variants so the stock pages work best for that. Thanks for sharing!

      @chrislovesstamps  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi. I heard of Minkus, but cannot recall how they look, will look them up. Too bad they seperated the definitives, I don't like that either. Price and albums were good, but I sold them already as I found them too limiting. I prefer black pages also and I sold my big stock books also and replaced them with stock pages.

    Hi Chris, geen verkeerde deal zou ik zeggen. ik had er laatste eentje voor 25 euro. En jij hebt er direct een lading zegels bij. Met Davo heb ik wel een soort haat - liefde verhouding. Ze dwingen je bijna om op een bepaalde manier te verzamelen. Of tig euro voor blanco velden uit te geven, zodat je zelfs nog wat kan creëren. Ik heb ook wel de video's gezien, waarbij mensen zelf hun pagina's maken. Super gaaf, maar wel super tijdrovend. ik moet persoonlijk nog een tijdje werken en heb ook nog andere hobby's en een familie en vrienden leven. Dus voor mij is de DAVO nu prima, ziet er mooi uit. En ik merk dat ik er echt regelmatig in loop te bladeren. En net als bij de Pannini boeken heb ik echt die drive om pagina's compleet te maken.

      @chrislovesstamps  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Hoi Camiel. Nee, geen verkeerde deal. Maar ik ben het met je eens, Davo is duur en 'dwingt' je op een bepaalde manier te verzamelen. Zelf albums maken lijkt me ook leuk. Maar vooralsnog vind ik stokboeken het fijnst. Daar kan ik mijn eigen smaak en creativiteit kwijt. Dat completeren zoals de Panini albums, dat gevoel, ken ik wel. Daarom plan ik mijn stokboeken ook uit. Dus voor elke zegel een labeltje en een plek. Dat geeft een goed gevoel omdat je dan echt ruimtes opvult, en je ziet wat je mist en je ziet de collectie vorm aannemen.

      Hey Jeff. They look really good. But they are still very standard when in comes to additional info and varieties. Davo is following a very standard catalogue.

    Great albums, but i don't like the DAVO pages as they are very simple [just the year listed not even a date when issued etc] i like the binders etc anyway. I make my own pages using ALBUM EASY.

    • @chrislovesstamps
      @chrislovesstamps  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Hi Roger. In hindsight I do not like them as much also. I have looked into Album Easy and I really like that software. As yet I stick with the stockbooks and stockcards but maybe in the future I might give Album Easy a proper try.

    What brand are those blue stock books? And where did you purchase them?

    • @chrislovesstamps
      @chrislovesstamps  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Hi Christopher. The blue stockbooks I use are from Lighthouse/Leuchtturm. Comfort Deluxe 64 black pages. They are not cheap but very good quality.

      @@chrislovesstamps thank you. Lighthouse is my favorite brand of stockbooks. I have quite a few also, I wasn’t sure if these were lighthouse or not.
