I want to add, in addition to a shout out to my own channel, that this sort promotion of other folks and channels (like you did with your "Bassin Buds" series a while back), is good for everyone. Good for those folks you promote and good for your channel as well. It not only turns viewers on to other channels they might like, but helps create a community, and if this Internet thingy should be anything at all, it should be about positive community. There's WAY too much negativity on these platforms, and it's channels like Retro Bassin that reinforce what the Internet should be about: stuff that makes you smile. Just look at the comment section, any given Saturday, at the bottom of one of your videos - it's all smiles! You've hit a nerve with a lot of folks, Chris, and all of us appreciate these brief Saturday morning interludes of joy. Thanks brother!

Bill Dance may be in the theme song, but to pull back the curtain a bit, the Retro Bassin’ show is much more heavily based on early episodes of Jimmy Houston Outdoors I remember growing up watching. I swear, from the first few notes of the “Chunkin’ and Windin’” theme song to watching Jimmy laugh and giggle and haul in big ol’ bass on baits like a motor oil worm or a chartreuse Strike King spinnerbait…it struck a nerve and had me wishin’ I could have that much fun fishin’. Very early on, I decided Retro Bassin’ was going to be a feel-good channel as tribute to TV personalities like Jimmy, Rowland, Bill, Hank, Jerry, Orlando, and Al. No hard-hitting reviews, no I-quit-the-Squad drama, no stunt fishing for clicks. It hasn’t always been easy and I’ve made a conscious effort keep smiling and never to feed the trolls. The result, hopefully, is that community you talked about, where like-minded anglers can get together, reminisce the good ol’ days, and have a good chuckle. We keep growing this community of Bassin’ Buds (don’t think that title should be exclusive to this channel) and it might be time to put on some Bassin’ Bud Family Reunions or old school fishing tourneys…

I've got Jimmy's "Hooked for Life" book on my small stand at all times, and I reread a page or two every day - always brings a smile to my face. When I was growing up it was mainly Virgil Ward and later Al Lindner, Babe Winkleman and Roland Martin. I've since rediscovered folks like Gadabout Gaddis and Dan Gapen and their shows (shows my Dad and Grandpa watched). Your channel has helped me, and I'm sure a lot of other anglers, spark a nostalgic reconnection with those good old days of Saturday morning cartoons and fishing shows (remember The American Sportsman and Curt Gowdy?). And you hit the jackpot with that Retro Bassin' theme song - best opening on youtube. (I'm thinking of using the Jonny Quest theme song for mine - it's already my phone's ringtone - lol).
Thanks for the 'plug'! It's never been my intention to get thousands of subs without interest...I love talking lures n old gear! When people watch and comment something useful, that's pretty much it! I like how you kinda post on Saturday mornings it works best for me. I think I found your channel watching Realistic Fishing a few years ago.

It's a slippery slope trying to get traction on You Tube would really appreciate some help! And some suggestions. Not getting much for comments so could use some advice
You’ve been putting out some great videos on the short time your channel has been up! As far as advice, no real secret sauce. I would ask the viewers for feedback in your next video. It’s a great way to help steer content and get viewers engaged in the comments. That and reply to as many comments as time permits. Viewers taking time to not only watch a video but also leave a comment are your core audience and should be treasured!
@@RetroBassin Thanks man! It goes right along with what my son's saying! Just did a bunch of fall fishing in my 80s Fisher SV2 v bottom boat . And my son Jason has been stressing it every day to ask for comments! I'm still trying to get all the bugs worked out with audio and video problems! Man I really have a lot of respect for all you guys putting out these fishing shows and juggling everything that goes into them !
Just came across your channel for the first time! Awesome Stuff! Subbed!! If you're interested in doing a collab, I have a great video idea! I make baits on my channel, and I just recently received a bunch of Old Resin Hand Pour molds from MF Manufacturing from back in the 70's. I think it would be fun if I could make you some soft baits using the old retro lure molds, and then you can technically use them to fish as retro gear, since the molds are from the 70's.. See if they still catch fish against today's lures. 👍🏼
I highly recommend NDYakAngler. His channel is so Zen, it's a great one for chilling out and relaxing. He's like the Bob Ross of fishing with his narration. It's mostly a POV type fishing video from his vantage point in his kayak. He's hammering monster river smallmouth on Whopper Ploppers, or sometimes something really offbeat, like catching bass on a Lego Chewbacca. Great channel for lowering the blood pressure.
I just found your channel and have enjoyed it so far. But one of the channels you recommended 8 months ago, I can't support. Ted Lincoln's fishing life claims to be an "atheist fisherman", which for most folks doesn't represent American family values. Hopefully this was an oversight on your part and not a shared belief.
