Hopefully they finish it this time.
The game was actually finished before it was cancelled, and we never got the finished version. So the SNES Classic version is going to be the final version we never got.
Maybe Johnny can do a revisit for the game sometime.

Technically at the time. Starfox 2 wasn't officially released. Most people emulated it or played a reproduction. Now you can play it on the SNES Classic after beating the first level of starfox 1

Star Fox 2 was technically remade but Command was more of a spiritual successor. Apart from Assault the Star Fox games are usually just enhancements of either Star Fox 1 or 2.
and the Star Fox 2 Walker was added in Star Fox Zero

Ah, Star Fox. The series that got me into gaming in the first place. Yeah, the original Star Fox in some aspect hasn't aged too well, but this game has a soft spot in my heart.

Never played any of the Star Foxes.
And the way I said that will sound like I committed a crime.
It's okay, I haven't played a few games like Hyperdimension Neptunia (otherwise known as NepNep by diehard fans), as it can be offputting at times. I couldn't play Senran Kagura due to a slowly dying PSP, which would make things difficult if I tried since that was a PSP exclusive at the time (that, and if I tried to play the 3DS entry I would've missed a good chunk of "lore" due to this handicap).
TL;DR I couldn't play games for a time due to technical difficulties. So even if I WANTED to rent either of those games, I couldn't as my current PSP is R.I.P.
It's okay, I played a good bit of them but didn't care much for them.
Try star fox assault, it's pretty beginner friendly(To change the controls go to options>player profiles) and the multiplayer is without a doubt the best in the series.

It's weird: Star Fox looks like something that's up my alley: An arcade-esq shooter that puts an emphasis on multiple playthroughs to improve your score and performance. It's why I love Sonic Generations, and the only Star Fox game I've played is the original. No, I have not played Star Fox 64. You can crucify me later.
Personally, while the original Star Fox isn't a bad game, it was a little too slow for my liking. I'm sure the other games improve the speed, so I'll have to play the other games in order to get a better Star Fox experience.
Star Fox 64 is basically Star Fox SNES improved. If you can play it, go for it.
Get Star Fox 64 3D. That's the version I have and played. Would recommend.
If you thought the original Star Fox was slow, you probably won't think the other games are any better. I haven't played all of them, but in my experience, the original Star Fox is the most frantic in the series.

Star Fox 64 is fantastic. If you thought anything of the original, you'll love its re-imagening on the N64. Get the 3DS version if you can.

I got a confession to make.... I have never played a Star Fox game. Before you say anything I'm not a kid, I'm 24. Which I think makes that even worse. How can I be 24 and not have played a single Star Fox game.

John, i know you won´t read this,but in case you do i need to ask for a favor. Please, keep an open mind when you play Starfox Adventures. (Yes, i´m one of those schmucks that actually likes it) I know it´s not like a starfox game AT ALL, but it´s still a good adventure game. So many people hate it just for the fact that it´s not a space shooter (JONTRON!!), but just for the sake of giving it a fair chance don´t think of it as a Starfox game think. Think of it as a Rare game. Thanks, or not. Again, very unlikely you´ll see this

As weird as it sounds, I think Star Fox Adventures was my first Star Fox game way back when I was much younger. I remember really liking it a lot, and I was surprised to hear that so many people hated it once I got older.
Sure it's not like... ANY other Star Fox game in the series, but it's not meant to be, and especially considering how popular OOT is, I'd think that the Zelda-esque adventure-y formula would be popular. I dunno, maybe that's just an excuse for a game that shouldn't be a Star Fox game but oh well.
This pretty much. Also there's the fact it was rushed for release, sadly.
I still think the ass-pull at the end was inexcusable mostly, and it was sad to see a lot of the original plot get cut, but we can blame that on Rare being bought out around the time it was being worked on. At least it's a trainwreck in gameplay, unlike certain rushed titles, so they put effort there.

They are releasing an NES with pre-loaded games so anything is possible. I remember playing this. I didn't realize there was a difficulty and never got very far. Hope to see a Lets play for SGB. I like when game companies do that though. "Okay guys we couldn't fit it into this game so lets put it into another one." like how Fungi Forest was gonna be a Banjo-Kazooie level but then was added as a DK 64 level. Or there were a couple levels planned for Banjo-Kazooie that were added into Tooie like Witchyworld and Glitter Gulch Mine.

I love it when the antagonist or the end of the world threat in video games are a constant and consistent problem threatening to destroy everything throughout the game. Not just waiting til the last level to finally get down to it.

unfortunately, i don't think Nintendo owns the rights to the FX chip anymore, so they can't rerelease any games that used it, like Starfox and Yoshi's Island
Wait, Star Fox hasn't been released on the Virtual Console, yet? Never noticed that.
That probably explains why the Yoshi's Island we got for the Virtual Console is the Gameboy Advance version.
