I just did this mod similar, ordered a stainless steel rod off Amazon was a toilet plunge rod 1/4" diameter a good 1/4 drill bit cheap wood handle from Lowe's. Good it from another CZcamsr he flipped the sear plate so the cover fits over still.
I would drill the hole on the left hand side that way when you pull the rod. It's in front of the box and not hanging out in midair as it is on the right side.
hey buddy I just picked up a Lexington and it seems like it won't get all the way hot and when it does it goes back down the temperature like when I put it on high it won't go that high any recommendations what I should do
could be pellets. what brand u using? or you could have a controller issue. i would empty all the pellets. use pit boss pellets. unplug it . make sure you watch my start up video.
@@ScottysBackYardBBQ I use the Pit Boss competition pellets and I watched your startup video everything was working great but whatever it get up high and start going down I'm going to give it a try today after I get off work this evening

Left side just didn't line up right. So I went right side
It’s crazy to me this PitBoss smoker didn’t come with a way to open/close the slider. Just got mine, assembled it, and thought we missed a step.
Yes it is. I wish they put 1 on. Thanks gor watching I appreciate it
I’ve been meaning to do this for mine. Nearly burning my hands trying to switch from smoke to grill mode.
Yes. Done that. It's easy to fo. Thanks for watching
Does anyone know if the heat deflectors work for this or the open flame covers that fit over pitboss.
Each pit boss has different size heat deflectors
Going to do it to mine also it’s a pain
works nice.
That’s one way to clean your bottom plate also !!!!
yeppers lol
What other modifications have you done to hold heat in the pit?
I just plug 2 back holes with foil. Other then that no other mods needed
@@ScottysBackYardBBQ Keep up the good work and videos. Given me great things to cook for the family
@@lockednloaded1000 thank you
no problem
Scotty, what size rod did you use (thickness)?
I used a 10mm stainless steel all thread.
Does your seer plate sit level or cock-eyed?
It sits level. Some times I need to wiggle it lol
