- This 17th century english country house has been derelict for close to 20 years!.. it has some incredible things left behind from the previous owners inc vintage antiques, stuffed animals, all there cloths & even food still in the kitchen cupboards!… id say this is by far the most amazing place ive filmed for my channel so far here in the UK!…full video coming this saturday (Christmas Day 6pm!)

I visited here about 3 weeks ago but got challenged before I could get in. It’s previous owner was an ex mp and soldier who died at a very advanced age in the early 2000’s. He owned a lot of land locally. Both the barn and house are grade 2 listed buildings, the coach house with the red doors is a fairly recent addition. Excellent video, thank you.

The barn is of great importance , I'm glad you said it was listed but I hope someone will save it. The first part of the house looks like it was a medieval hall well before the rest of the house was built. Somebody should be preserving this now
@James Tyler Your family should have taken better care of the valuable items. That beautiful place has been left to rot, if anything you're family should be the one's reported to the police.
the stone traveled for 6 seconds so equates to 180 meters. That is one hell of a deep well.
Well done Colin, this is a fantastic find, yes there are probably a lot of valuable items hidden in the house, everybody who has commented thus far has glorified the house and contents, and I don't blame them, but there is another part of the property that no one has mentioned, which is just as valuable, historically, as the house, that is the large barn, it's length, height' width and the way the structure looks is remeniscanct of the old 'Tythe Barn's', of which there are very few left standing, the wooden structure and the upright post's will be mainly Oak, the last one I saw was demolished to make way for the Tythe Farm Estate in Houghton Regis before the preservation orderscame intoplay, as I said they are rare buildings, and your video of the whole estate was well worth it.

Great watch, thank you. The buttons on the jacket are Welsh Guards, the blue red blue medal ribbon is for a 1939-1945 Star medal, either Battle of Britain or Bomber Command, and the green orange green medal ribbon is for a Defence Medal issued 1945, so that dates your jacket.
The motto on the stained glass window is Ut Sursum Desuper, seems to be connected to the Worsley Family. I found the things that had been left in the house quite heartbreaking, the uniforms, photographs & the mementos that have been collected over a lifetime just left behind & trashed, very sad.

I like your investigative mind set … There are lots of coats of arms spread around the place that can tell you a huge amount about a the history of the place , although you do have to be carful as they get changed a lot over time .

It's really sad that the last family member cared so little about about their home and ancestry, to hoard it full. It could still be saved but it would take tremendous amounts of $$. And people that would care enough to save it, like those of us watching, don't have that kind of $$. Great find. And Merry Christmas everyone.
Colin you just made my Christmas Day. It was the topper on the Christmas tree. A wonderful family Christmas. That house blew my mind, reminded me of my grandfather's 27 room house but it only 135 years old and sold in the 50's. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Great building! But I think it's been abandoned for not more than 20 years. Looking at the lawn mower, the washing machine and the box of a Brother sowing machine, which contained a DVD. So it will be after 1997,more likely around 2000 or later
sometimes I wish there was someone to report some of these historical findings to so that items like the uniform, books and paintings weren't lost to time but were rescued for conservation
Personally Colin I think you should get in touch with National Heritage and tell them about this property. Things like the WW2 military uniforms and war photos are of national importance and should be preserved not left to rott. Great vid buddie.
They looked more like WW1 officers uniforms.

INCREDIBLE! The antiques, the tiles on the walls, the furniture is worth so so much money it's mind boggling if you knew what these things were worth on the antique market. Even the decorative wooden trim is worth alot of money!
This explore was truly fantastic. I could have taken ages in there just looking at all the wonderful things on the ground floor. What a show place that house must have been in it's prime. Thank you for this. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Amazung house and all the antiques it contained. The drapes at every window were hand made. The furniture would have been the best when new. I would love to find out the history of this family as they obviously had the right connections. You have a lovely Christmas, many thanks for all the exploring you do. So, reading through the comments was interesting. I don't know the protocol for reporting a place like this to get it at least considered for saving. But if there is a way, please, please do it. It really is an architectural treasure.❤️❤️❤️

Loved the large sitting room with the gold coloured sofas and the pillars, beautiful bespoke curtains with pelmets that would have been very expensive...lovely antique furniture.

That was an unexpected Christmas present, amazing place. The kind of place that would take me as long to carefully sort the contents as it would to renovate the property. I do hope whoever does take that house on they are respectful of its contents. Happy new year, you've set a bench mark for 2022 lol
This house looks like it had been lived in by the same family for multiple generations, once fairly common, but became far less so since world war 2 - when you have a large house and don't move for generations, you collect a very large amount of stuff. Reminds me of my grandparents old farmhouse (demolished 1988) - decoration from the mid third of the 20th century looks like the central heating system was the last update done. Note the contrast from the expensive, solid antique furniture downstairs, to the horrid plywood 1970s/1980s chest of drawers in one of the bedrooms. Sadly it looks like a childless horder with health issues was the last to live here. That house is beyond economical repair - it would literally cost millions to restore.
To dig that well would have taken a very painstaking long time. Whoever owned this property was indeed wealthy in order to have this place built the way it was. This is NOT your ordinary peasant farmhouse, this is sooooo much more. Someone needs to be notified or a next of kin if possible.
Colin this was a fantastic explore, I love old houses and history , so when I watch I imagine all the people who must have lived there in the past, but this house must be listed ? Yet it’s nearly beyond saving , such a shame because when it’s gone it’s gone ,

Houses are not built like this today. I hope that someone saves it before it falls into total disrepair. The architecture is fantastic.This house Is full of character. A great location with so many great items left behind. I’m amazed that nobody has visited and stolen valuables from the main house. I hope it stays that way. Love the property,the furniture,the chandeliers you are right ,there's a fortune in there,probably another we can't see.love the master bedroom,the window at the top of the stairs is very cool.Duch a shame,there's no one to tend to it all.wonderful explore,I also like the Shepherd's house.and a nice deep well,inside so nice.The paintings really need to be taken care of before the ceilings collapse.The whole property barns and all.is wonderful. Hello Colin, its not a tree its a leek, the buttons are Welsh Guards Regiment They come in 3 main sizes with c. 26mm "Large" size used for tunic buttons, great coats and officer's buttons. The c. 19mm "Medium" sized buttons used for No. 2 Khaki service dress tunic buttons, parade uniforms, pockets and epaulettes. The c. 14mm "Small" size buttons mainly used for caps, mess dress waistcoats and General's red insignia gorget tabs. they worth some money. got to love google :}

You skipped past a couple of UK passports in the bedroom, they would have had a date of birth which might have given a clue to the ages of the previous residents and maybe explained why they had left? I saw the blue bathroom had been adapted for someone less abled. Notice also blank post it notes on certain items - used to mark then as worth valuing? Of course the property will belong to someone somewhere, the land registry would tell you for a small search fee, but most likely listed and as such difficult and way too expensive to make meaningful repairs - sadly the usual course of action is to wait until it falls into complete decay (or catches fire) before the site can be repurposed.
This is a wonderful place wish someone could save and restore it. Some of the furniture is great. Thank you for exploring this terrific place.

WOW, just wow, I don't usually comment on your videos but this one just blew me away, what an amazing find, I am so glad you stick to the urbex code of leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures, I'm so glad you never reveal locations, places like this should be preserved, the riding boots near the start of the video are probably worth £200-300, the army jackets you mentioned near the end would fetch the same, thank you for sharing.
What an absolutely immense place. Don't know if it was hoarding or if at one point things were just chucked in the rooms as they look like there were plans to do something with the place. Some of the bags did look more recent then how long it looks to have been abandoned for. I wonder why the plans seem to have ground to a halt. It's really sad seeing all those potentially valuable antiques just left to rot.
Probably the best abandoned house I've seen obviously belonged to someone with a military background.
But seriously mate you should start wearing a respirator doing that stuff because that mould will fuck you up breathing it in.

There is. It's called The National Trust, English Heritage/Historic England, and The Landmark Trust. We should support these organisations.

Wow! Certainly one of, if not, the best explores I've viewed thus far. That well is DEEP and that's an understatement! Just imagine digging it by hand 300+ years ago. Can't someone from somewhere ride in and save this wonderful house and that amazing barn? Sifting through and auctioning off the contents would certainly raise a few sheckles that could be put towards restoration. On another thought, I actually wondered whether the room where the front door was located, had been set up like the reception area in a hotel.
Calculate the distance traveled by the stone by using the following formula, where T is the time it took for the stone to hit the water: Distance = 1/2 * 9.8 * T^2 For example, if it took 1.5 seconds to hit the water, the stone traveled about 11 meters.
So for 10 seconds? 490 metres?
@@fhwolthuis That's what the science says. However, to get a more accurate measurement, it really needs to be timed wit a stopwatch. It was deep but not 490 metres deep.

We have the Wolsey Family Crest and the Kingston ok Themes coat of arms on multiple fixtures .. With some stop starting the history on this place should be out there
Great house, great video. There seems to be a theme in some houses of old owners, no family, the last dies or something happens to them and the house is just forgotten. So sad.
About the depth of the well, could be wrong but here goes my memory of 30 years ago physiscs class. Ignoring air friction, terminal velocity V=g*t, where g is the gravity, so V=9.81*10, V=98.1m/s. Solving for distance it would be the integral of the speed over the time, but again ignoring friction distance = 1/2*g*t^2 which is about 500m. This is obviously a huge number, so accounting for air friction and speed of sound coming back up, we should be talking of some 300m-ish. Now I'm used to thinking of wells as going 10-20m deep, put on those you hear the PLOP of the rock within seconds, 4-5 tops.
Looks like it was the Worsely family judging by the Latin motto on the coat of arms which translates as "decend to ascend"

Have just checked out this one , Colin .TRIPLE FISH IN HERALDRY The arms show three fish over each other. Often used as a symbol of the importance of fisheries as well as a symbol for the Holy Trinity.

The coats of arms on the fire place. One seems to be for Kingston upon Thames but can't find the other. House is magnificent. Needs a phone Call to save some of the interior items! Please report them

Wow Colin, that was spectacular, what a property, surely it must be listed escpecially the massive barn, what a find but as you say, hoarding looks to have been a problem but if the same family have lived there for a few generations stuff may have been passed down and just put upstairs out of the way. The well was amazing, I too would have been shaking standing next to that, sooo deep, best yet I would say 👍🐾🥰🐾👍

The jackets in attic--the Land Army? I'm sure with the heraldry on the fireplace, ceiling beams & the stained glass, the family/property history should be relatively easy to trace... But sad how the family must have died out. Hope someone can save photos & many items & the buildings before it all rots away...
