Its 15 years since Combat Pilot was made and Richard Fawkes is now a Sqn Leader and alongside his flying duties is also the Editor of the RAF publication Global Gateway. He displayed a great deal of character in the programme after the disappointment of not being able to pursue a fast jet career, its great to see he and the other pilots doing so well.

Congrats to Dave McBryde after all those years as a Nav, nice to see a dream come true. In his favour he had some of the course already completed due to his 18 years in the back seat, he had only to learn to fly the aircraft and release weapons as a pilot. Easier said than done!

Stuart Kenward Its a well filmed documentary etc etc; what however, is the effect of recent air operations ie GW1 going forwards on our sociology? on the actual surface? Why has HMG destroyed the UK’s air capability? Top flying though, real talent.

Stuart Kenward Dave certainly did an incredible job, very impressive. The cab driver comment was forgiveable, musician, physics teacher or paramedic would perhaps be more equivalent to commercial pilot?

Not a single aircraft in the RAF inventory would inspire me to go through that training..of course if they had the F15 the F16 the F18 the F22 ..now that’s a different story..in short the RAF have crap planes..sorry brutal truth..

We have the Eurofighter, which is better than the F15 and F16 on basically all grounds, and we have the F35B, I don't know where you got that argument from, but hey, it's your opinion at the end of the day.

The best aircraft the US ever made was the YF23 and it never went into production. You can keep your American trash all day long. The British arr quite capable of designing a quality aircraft
