I’m going to show you how I made a giant pumpkin halloween decoration that can also be worn as a fun costume.
You’ll see how I transformed some yoga mats, fabric scraps, and paint into a realistic-looking pumpkin that is big enough to fit me inside.
This project was inspired by my love for halloween and pumpkins, and also by the movie Cinderella, where the fairy godmother turns a pumpkin into a carriage. I thought it would be fun to do the opposite and turn myself into a pumpkin.

I know it was probably frustrating to see it not go as planned. But I genuinely think that all the "flaws" and "mistakes" just make it better! It has a Nightmare Before Christmas aesthetic, and it's soooo fitting!
Much love and thank you for putting a smile on our face! 😊❤
I totally agree! It just made it look creepier and scarier! Totally on point 😤
Agreed! I think it works!
It reminded to campi 80's Horror movies
A Nightmare Before Christmas; now there's an idea for a project!
100% agree. Pumpkins are so often creepily misshapen and lumpy, its all part of the aesthetic ant it looks perfect for what it is! Loved the reveal and the versatility, you did great.
"You never think you will make bad choices" is certainly a mood.
Thank you on so many levels for showing that this is also part of costume making.
I am a professional costume and propmaker for shows and theatre and people usually see my work in the shining, glittering show light, well staged or nicely shot.
They don’t see us makers sitting on the floor in a shabby, ill ventilated basement, covered in hot glue, latex and duct tape, with scratches on the hands and marks on the face from the respirator mask, after the tenth energy drink and some leftover junk food, ugly sobbing and crying and questioning our life choices while the deadline is laughing in our face and you just feel more stupid every second because you’re usually good at this.
I love your channel so much! You are an awesome maker and I am grateful, that you share it with us.
I can’t believe how "versatile" this is!! 😂 As a skirt, walking pumpkin head, hiding spot or just decoration… impressive!!
You are a mad crafting genius, and to me this video just proves it. The pumpkin looks so cool and creepy! Even with a lot of setbacks, you pulled something "cursed" into a really cool finished project. The details are just fantastic. I really appreciate when creators show what goes wrong and how they problem solve it. I'm sorry this was so stressful for you, but it does look really cool.
By the end, I just wanted to give you a warm hug. The pumpkin ultimately came out looking wonderful.
I can't even imagine how exhausted you must have been at the end of this but I believe our cursed little pumpkin turned out fantastic! Think of the trick or treaters you could terrify by sitting inside that thing by the candy bowl!! 😂
As frustrating as it is when things don't go as planned, I think it's awesome that you posted this to show all the frustration and setbacks. It's easy a a creator to watch all the successes on social media and think you're the only one who fails.
Thanks for being real!
Sorry to hear you had such a hard time with this project. Luckily Halloween is the one time of year, when looking cursed is actually a good thing.
I love it as a skirt. Looks like something out of a Tim Burton movie.
I doubt you get trick-or-treaters at your house, but this would be such a great Halloween prank. Just sit outside, looking like a giant pumpkin decoration until some kids turn up. Then you can pop up and scare the crap out of them.
I absolutely concede that this is a "nightmare project" for a perfectionist. The setbacks and glitches were daunting and your feelings are valid.
As a person who creates on a smaller scale and more infrequently, watching your struggles, and learning from your mistakes is immensely helpful. I am impressed with the state of "artistic wholeness" that you wrastled the stubborn pumpkin into!🎃 I agree with others that the rough irregularities added to the spooky holiday vibes. Honestly, from the outside, and, subjectively, I believe it looks like a success.
I hope your next project is more satisfying for you. (I am sure that your viewers and patrons will live it either way!)
Awww, bless your maker heart. You looked so frustrated, but you prevailed in the end!!! It came put so creepy and cute! I adore it! Great idea!!!!
It was so lovely to see how you just didn't give up no matter how badly the pumpkin was fighting back tobe created!
I know it's hard to believe when you had something else in your head, but I genuinely think it looks amazing!!! It is not a shiny new pumpkin from the store but a spooky one that has been sitting on the porch for a week already - perfect for Halloween 🎉
"All I do is for nothing!" - oh girl, we have all been there! I know it fought you every step of the way, but it is a creepy, wearable pumpkin, so it does the job!
The end result is suitably creepy! I like it
I’m so impressed that you didn’t just give up! It looks amazing!
I think sewing with fishing line would have been my go to for a shape like this. It might be less prone to snapping than thread, but I am sure floss or small cord could work too, especially if you sew out the side of the edge to keep the stitches off the front face.
More accurate title, "I made a Giant pumpkin costume and it was a success." This is dope.
Despite your struggle I think it was worth all your hard work. The wonkyness makes it super spooky and creepy! It must have been so hard not to give up, well done 🎉
I hate cursed projects - but it turned out ok in the end!! I love it best as a pumpkin with legs, wearing heels. :)
That was my favorite too!
This totally looks like something out of Nightmare Before Christmas and I LOOOOOOOOOOVE IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT! It sucks that it was so cursed but take forward the lessons you learned and use that knowledge for next time! Making mistakes is how we learn!
I think it looks great! Very Nightmare Before Christmas vibe. ❤
Best Halloween pumpkin costume ever! Loved the version where you were inside the pumpkin and only legs and heels showing. Nice save!
I'm still watching. Kudos to you for pushing forward despite all the challenges!! This project is truly cursed.
Orange paint makes everything better, every Dutchy knows that 😂
If you were going for Halloween Horror, you hit the mark perfectly!!!
Regardless of the horror story that was its making, it looks great. Brilliant work and so many ways to 'wear' it.
It was NOT an unmitigated disaster! You mitigated it fiercely!
SUCH a journey to completion. One always thinks, "I can fix it by doing *this*" Then *this* doesn't work and you still think its fixable...
I liked the pumpkin blouse with it; it ended up looking pretty cool!
For all the struggles I think it turned out really good!!
A for Efford. Why didn't you think about making a wire structure that functions as a skeleton to help with the shape?
But the end result is it's a scary pumpkin, so mission accomplished.
I think it came out amazingly well considering all the setbacks you experienced. Crazy about that little pumpkin blouse. What a great job!
looks like everyone is having difficult times with their latest project. Still came out nifty looking.
I still think it ended up pretty cool! Good for you for not giving up amd finish it! I would just give up and cry in the corner 😂
That is a fabulous pumpkin!! Fun and Spooky at the same time. I think my favorite is when you wear it covering your head and body with just the legs showing!! LOL it really didn’t need the hat.
I understand this was a lot of work and frustration for you, but the end result was great!! I appreciate seeing other people’s struggles. It lets me feel I’m not alone when I make my own, many mistakes. Thank you for including the Good and the “Oops! That didn’t go as planned!” Moments! I love seeing your, always creative, fixes and saves!
It may have been cursed but it looks really epic in the end! I’m now making a note to never use yoga mats in a project.
It turns out so well in the reveal 😍😍😍
It looks amazing and very creepy!! Well done finishing the project, despite the fact that it fought against you at every turn 👏👏
Sorry for your struggle and frustration, but the reveal shows a great outcome!
I was thinking…this is soooo bad…poor thing, it is a disaster…until it wasn’t!! It came out great! I think you totally saved it! I think it’s awesome!!!
I have projects that I started, get aggravated with, walk away, come back. You are awesome, you continued with the pumpkin even though it didn't want you to finish. The end project is wearable, and creepy... perfect for Halloween.
I love it! I'm so sorry this was such a difficult project for you, but you got through it and it looks amazing 🤩
Honestly, I love the videos where talented people show their mistakes and failures. Like, look! No matter how skilled you are, sometimes you're going to mess up. I'm glad it all worked out in the end!
It may have been a bumpy ride but the end result is awesome! Congratulations
Comment of appreciation for the Wrecking Ball sound clip 🎃 You are a magician 🎉
Oh wow. This seems like it was such a hard project, but it looks fantastic even though you encountered setbacks! Thank you for including them in the video, and for showing us what you can achieve if you persevere ♥
I think that as a pumpkin witch with it woen as a skirt its super fun. And its a fun decor piece tout court! I like it a lot! 🎃
A love the view of the pumpkin head walking on skinny legs with heels. Adorable
Thank you for showing the real struggle of perseverance and coming up with solutions to get a project done. It's too easy to see all the pretty crafts on CZcams and the like and get inspired, but when you start you feel like yours is trash and it's just not going right. It's nice to see one of my favorite artists show the real struggles as well as the masterpieces.
Even if you have struggle with this project, I really love the result
Thanks for sharing this. You do so many amazing things, it's nice to know you're like the rest of us and that not everything goes to plan. Your reveal was hilarious. Thanks for the morning laugh!
10:18 I am sorry I laughed a lot. The poor thing looks like my vegetables when I forget to put them in the fridge XDDDD It is Halloween, cursed it the perfect vibe for it.
Let the hallloween project be cursed! Must mean the others will be ... at least less cursed, right? The result, removed from the process, is amazing. VERY halloween ^^
From someone who has made waaaay too many overly complicated Christmas presents with far too little time and resources, the "crafting while sobbing" vibe is so #relatable.
It may be cursed, but it is still cute!
You probably wanted a perfectly shaped pumpkin, but the giant ones usually have sags and imperfections. Nice work. Think of all the things you learned for next time.
STUNNING job!!!! If it’s helpful next time, I had success using hot glue with yoga mats when making some knight helmets for my grandsons….
I think the texture looks awesome!!!
As much as a headache as that build was...it looks like an introverts dream! I can just imagine wearing that to a party. The roundness would keep people from getting too close and you could completely disappear into the pumpkin, when you need a break from peopleing. I love it!!!
Your jack o lantern turned out Awesome!!!! After all that hard work and mental struggle look what it achieved! Pure awesomeness!!!!🎃 Plus you looked great in it!!! 🌟✨💫
Puuh i know it can be so frustrating when it's not working but you did it!! AND it looks SO COOL AND SO CREEPY THO i love it😆🧡🧡🧡🎃
Well done for persevering & getting it finished well enough, even if your perfectionist heart is crying pumpkin tears! Le Reveal is so much fun!
That is the most horrifying pumpkin I have ever seen. Well done!
Also it’s alright to make something spooky right now 😂
Don't be so hard on yourself! You made something absolutely amazing in the end. The huge pumpkin monster wearing high heels in the reveal was so funny! I hope that one day you will look back on this project with pride. We learn best by making mistakes. Thank you for sharing this process with us :)
That is spook-tacular! I love it! I am so making one for a custom doll like this maybe a pumpkin witch, Dollightful has a candy corn witch she could diffidently needs a pumpkin witch for next years Halloween!
I am so sorry that you had to suffer so much for our entertainment, I am not sure how much of a consolation it is but it is extremely entertaining and as a bonus despite its cursed conception the result is brilliant and I want one xx
The pumpkin looks season appropriate!
And I hope you can relax a bit in November... Vacances ❤
Maybe you can give it more structure later on by using some wires?
But I can't think of any glue that works best for yoga mats either :( (don't know if something like wood glue, super glue, fabric glue would do the job)
But the result looks nonetheless very good! And very creepy.
That looks awesome, I loved it ❤
It's obvious that this was a trial for you but in the end it looks amazing! I love it
Major kudos to you for all that effort and perseverance. It’s a silly interesting experiment, especially working with so many random and odd materials. Thank you for sharing ❤ and letting us know not to use yoga mats lol
🎃 I like it. It didn't turn out exactly like you wanted, but it still looks great for the season 🎃
Bless you for sticking with it. So frigging cute.
Amazing! You are so talented and the Pumpkin Skirt/Head turned out beautifully.
9:14 😂😂😂 this made me belly laugh 🤣
I'm sorry this project gave you a hard time, well done for seeing it through to the end. I personally love the lumpy cursed pumpkin 🎃 looks more on brand for Halloween
The result looks awesome ❤ you are amazing to keep going when it’s hard.
Despite all the issues throughout, it came out with exactly the right aesthetic. You were really able to salvage it and it looks perfectly "halloween-y"! Sorry you have to go through all the stress of deadlines and sponsors
When you said "where the fairy godmother turns the carriage into a pumpkin" I was waiting for a funny edit but it never happened. I guessed this one slipped through
Anyway love your enthusiastic videos so much 🤩🤗🤩
It ended up so versatile!! I like it as a skirt with your pumpkin top the best!
🧡🎃🧡
Halloween costume for introverts… don’t want to talk to people? Just turn into a pumpkin! 😂😂 I love it and I seriously need one.
I love the way it turned out... warts and all, as they say. ❤😂
as someone who is currently making something out of kid's craft foam and dollar store masking tape i have feeling i know where this is going
May have been a nightmare but it turned out cool as heck. If I had it, I would set it on my porch for trick or treat and when the kids knock, pop out and offer candy😂. Not really 😂 probably give someone a heart attack 😂but it’s fun to imagine.
It came out really well despite everything
Contact Cement does work on yoga mats. I made a shield with yoga mats and styrodur (denser styropor).
I usually don't comment because I'm not good at English (I'm from Poland and my language talents are very small), but I just wanted to say that the effect is great, you're doing a great job and I love watching your videos. You are a wonderful person and thank you for what you do!
I dunno, I think there can be a lot of charm in things that turn out a bit janky 🎃💀🧡👻🍁
Your perseverance is admirable!
Omg I just want to come over and hug you so bad. I now how frustrating and sadening failing projects can be. *virtual hugs*
I'm commenting before even watching the entire video but... I just wanted to say that I found myself eager to see which new random object you use as the micro holder and it cracks me up every time 😂😂
I LOVE ITTT 😻😻 it was worth the struggle >>>
✨magnifique, j’adore✨
don't worry, you can make it again next year after learning from your mistakes !
I love it! I especially loved it as the skirt. Good job persevering 👍
It is actually pretty scary, and if its a Halloween dress, I´d say its an absolute win!!
That looked great. Loved it as a skirt the best.
