Thanks so much for opening this Jeremy. I love this type of classic thing but like you said. "it's like buying a lottery ticket. You don't expect to win but it would be nice." All the cards you had before the book were Uncommons with the exception of that basic land. Congrats on the 50K! It's been a great week and I'm damn happy that I was able to share in to it with you.

What I don't understand is, how do you trust the person selling you these? They could open it, take out the good cards, put bad cards in, and reseal it. There aren't any trademark seals or holograms or anything. Never would I ever.

+Chris Legaspi If you look at the plastic on this deck Vs. the openboosters video, the plastic is different. This one has heat-shrink plastic, openboosters uses sealed cellophane plastic. This WAS opened and resealed. Probably by the youtuber.

You got the Rare Island. There were FIVE of these turkeys on the rare sheet, so you were more likely to pull one than any specific rare. Tough luck.
As a new player, those cards are insane. really enjoy seeing these old opening. but damn, I think those bills would be better spent on maybe expanding the channel

Hate to tell you this, but, coming from someone who remembers opening Beta starter decks, the inside wrapper on yours is not the original wrapping style used. The interior wrapping on authentic sealed starter decks is similar to the pull-tab exterior wrapping; yours was done by an altogether different process. I'd definitely confront the seller.
Beta basics run in the neighborhood of 2 to 4 bucks each depending, so there's some value, the counterspell is about 50 but I'm sorry there wasn't any super awesomeness, even a birds or a demonic tutor or Sol ring.

Wow....bad luck bro. Really great to see these opened. This is proof that you are better off to just buy power 9 or a duel if you want them. These are a HUGE gamble. Appreciate this video! Great Stuff!

sgr7th I read that it's pretty easy to figure out the rare by shining a light through the packs. Sounds like Beta should just be avoided altogether.

It's pretty awesome that you do this for fans. I was into magic for a small time but never got too into it but my parents were. I find it really irritating that all these morons come on here, and watch your video and then complain and say stupid shit about how they don't agree with the value or calling people nerds. They are so pathetic. But seems fun as shit to take risks like that! I enjoyed watching.
I know it doesn't help to make up for a lack of a lotus or the money you spent, but the beta counterspell is still pretty cool in my opinion.

It hardly makes up for the overall cost of the thing (and you didn't really expect to get anywhere near that price back, right?) but Beta Counterspell goes for ~$60 and Beta Llanowar Elves is $10.

This def looks like a repack. The internal plastic is not rapped correctly. Also you had 1 rare the hurricane but the uncommons were not correct for that starter deck. If you got the air elemental you would normally get a blue rare or artifact of some type. Its been a while but you can find approximations of what should be in the starters as they repeat after xx number of decks and the pattern was very consistent.

Like paper currency, has no real value or diamonds that only have value because "they" limit the number available. So consider this deck of cards like a diamond. It has value because its desired by people but very few of them are available.

+Nezir The God As odd as it sounds, it's exactly alike. Yes diamonds do have a function, but nothing that can't be replicated by using fake diamonds for negligible cost. Real diamonds are not rare in the slightest. The diamond industry just controls the prices by controlling the supply. Demand is controlled by women who've been sold on the idea that they must have them for status reasons. Prior to the 1930s, no one gave two shits about diamonds. However, some very smart people decided to launch an advertising campaign to rival that of the tobacco industry. They convinced the public that diamonds were glamorous, desirable, and any "real woman" must have diamonds. Those same people control the supply of diamonds. They hold the supply, and they created an artificial demand that took on a life of its own.
Flash forward 70 years or so. Diamonds primarily come from war-torn areas. Millions of people have been slaughtered over something that isn't even rare. Well I just have no idea how I got here or what I am really seeing or how a deck of cards could EVER cost $5000... yet somehow I felt real sorrow for this guy when he didn't get his card I was rooting for him so hard lol
