Why are Republicans still supporting Donald Trump? | Anywhere But Washington

  • Despite facing multiple criminal charges, Donald Trump remains the frontrunner in the 2024 Republican presidential primary. But in South Carolina, a traditionally conservative southern state, a split is opening up between Trump loyalists and more moderate Republicans who are fearful of what their party has become. The Guardian’s Oliver Laughland and Tom Silverstone investigate.

And Martin Luther King! I agree: this was absolutely bizarre, but she was trying to construct an argument about political interference via the justice system. Sadly, she has it upside down and trump is projecting, as usual. If he were in power he _would_ (and has evidently tried to) leverage the judiciary for political gain. But she is not abel to see this. I guess they are so aware of human failings, she expects that everyone has the same low standards.

It is terrifying what these people believe, the fact that they would execute a woman who received an abortion… You’ve all lost your humanity at that point.

Q: "Why are Republicans still supporting Donald Trump?"
A: They are willing to grievously harm themselves as long as it harms their enemies (real and imaginary) more, or so they believe.

This is very true. There was a book written about white republicans voting for laws to harm black Americans but the laws actually backfire on the white voters. It’s called “Dying of whiteness”.

When the guy got asked about the death penalty for abortion, I thought that even he would say that the death penalty is too harsh (for optics at the very least), but he didn't deny that being a reasonable option in his view. These people are truly insane. They legitimately need help
