  • Hey Planty People!
    I really enjoyed making this video. Sometimes I have a hard time being chatty, but I think I just had a lot on my mind the days that I filmed this. Started off strong with a really cool plant unboxing, and then ended on treating my plants for thrips yet again.
    xoxo

    I'm hoping that the systemic works for you. It does work on most pests. I like to spray liquid systemic all over the plant to kill the live pests then the soil gets treated with it. (Very important to treat the soil) Never used granular before. I like to keep my plants outside so that Mother Nature can help me out. Lots of luck to you!!! 🍃🍃🍃

    Girl, I just found thrips on my huge Monstera Deliciosa out of the blue yesterday. I panicked a little because it is such a huge plant. I picked it up, ran into the bathroom, put it in my shower and sprayed it down with Captain Jacks dead bug. I am so nervous to move it. I hope I caught it in time! I really hope your plants recover quickly! I am planning on buying some systemic granules as well to see if that helps at least for future probs. BTW I completely relate as far as what you said with the beginning of your plant journey you feel like you didn't have pests. I was either very lucky or very ignorant lol 😆 Thanks for always being real!

    Heather I'm leaving you another comment. Hope this helps you out. You can go to a You Kill Em store and get the product called Imidacloprid. This is your systemic chemical. It is in products for your Roses and probably other flower care. It will kill both thrips and mealybugs. If I were you I would take my plants out on your back porch and treat them all. You can mix up a gallon and would probably spray all of them at once.Make sure to research their lifecycle to make sure you get the new ones when they hatch. The rose care says that their product protects up to 8 weeks but this is a large pellet . Good luck girl I know that you aren't having much fun right now but hopefully it will get better.

    Have you tried adding clove oil to the mixture your spraying with @ least 10 drops. It will numb insects to death, also works on spider's, roaches,ants, anything else you want to try it on.

    I’ve only felt with thrips once. Spider mites are a pain in my ass. I treat they pop up out of no where. I can check all my plants one day every one is pest free then bam 💥 the next day a hoya has spider mites. 🙄

      @HeatherHoyas  Před 2 lety +1

      Same tho! Everyone says they’re so easy and that you can just wipe them off. Not from my experience!

    How exciting!! Congrats on your Hoya!! What a deal!! 😀 I’m sorry to tell you but that systemic doesn’t work for spider mites or thrips. The 4” in Teaspoons, the 5 “ in Tablespoons. Yea, I found out the hard way too. 💚 Sorry about the thrips 🤗

      @HeatherHoyas  Před 2 lety +3

      That’s so strange. It was the only systemic that actually said it treats thrips. We shall see I guess

      @@HeatherHoyas What an Ass, I need to read better. When I found out Bonide didn’t kill spider mites I assumed it wouldn’t kill thrips either. Thanks for the info 💚

    I bought a Magnificum juvenile and it looks exactly like a Forgetii!
    I asked the seller to identify and they said it’s definitely a Magnificum but it has no sinus and looks exactly like tore Forgetii!
    Really makes me wonder 💭 I have Magnificum seedlings on the way . Tfs
    Thrips are horrific that’s what made me go systemic , my Mamei lived in a plastic bag for 6 months to get rid of them .

    Oml I’ve had thrips on my Thaumatophyllum for weeks now 😩 I’ve been putting off treating it bc I’m afraid of pesticides lmao, I’ve just isolated it and ~manifested~ that it would magically treat itself lol

    I know this is more work, but, if you don’t mix the granules into the soil, they will get moldy.

    I've been trying out Bonide's Bonide Systemic Houseplant Insect Control. I've been adding the granules to the soil for all my plants. I've even put a bit in the water for my self watering plants. I figure if the plants are sucking up water then they'll get some of the systemic. It is supposed to be effective for 8 weeks then you reapply. I'm on week 7 and I've only found two thrips so far. I'm still finding mealybugs on my succulents, but I'm wondering if it is because the water runs thru the cactus soil so fast that there is no time for the granules to soak into the soil for the roots to absorb it. 🤷‍♀️

    Its my first time dealing with thrips 😳 I'm trying safers horticultural oil. I'm keen to try beneficial bugs but it seems there only good as a preventative and not when you already have aprblem. Anyone had a good experience with beneficial? If so what kind? Which brand? How often do you reapply?
