Thank you for being so real and vulnerable. I relate to this a lot and I think we can all relate in some way - especially those who have had plants for a long time. There can be this horrible cycle of "I feel depressed, so my plants are suffering" which becomes "I feel depressed *because* my plants are suffering", and it just feeds into itself. To anyone who is struggling: No one can tell you what you should be doing or how you should be feeling - only you know that for yourself. I had to go at my own pace and get to it when I felt motivated. Sometimes, that motivation didn't come for weeks. But it came back, eventually, and I dealt with it when I felt ready to. And sometimes, it meant throwing something in the trash. Take care of yourself first. (And for the record - I'm here for whatever you put out! I'd love to see gaming videos and anything else, haha. I am also a hobbyist and have tons of different interests. We can't be boxed into just one! You can be Heather Hobbies instead of Heather Hoyas, haha)
So proud of you for sharing how you’re feeling. It’s never easy to become unstuck but you’ve taken the first step to not only help yourself but others. Plants are awesome but only if they are making us happy, if something’s not bringing you joy then sell or donate it to someone that it will make happy. Yup , been dealing with clinical depression my whole life after 15 years old . For people who don’t understand I’m so glad you don’t , we need to talk more about this . Tfs prayers for all of us who suffer .We really need help getting help because like we can’t water a plant we can’t make that call to the dr either ! I’m here for whatever life brings you ✌️
Hey Heather I just want you to know that you are not alone I go through this as well sometimes I feel like caring for my plants, 4 children, still having to cook, clean and everything in between it really gets overwhelming and I end up neglecting myself but feel bad because I haven’t post as well so I try and squeeze a video in but at times I feel like it’s not enough and I need to be more consistent and that puts more pressure on me.🤦🏾♀️ Trust me I get it! Plants have took over my life when I’m into so much more music, photography, hair etc so so many things. So I totally get it post what makes you happy, take a break if you need to, our mental health is important and just know I will still be here watching. Stay true to you! There are tons of other content creators that might have "plant" channels, but do other things... wildfern does a vlog that's not plant related, also rachel aust does some plant, but mostly lifestyle content. iHasCupquake has a video game channel, but does crafting activities too. These are just a few people that I follow and honestly I love the variety that those channels provide. You might even gain a ton more followers with this type of channel. People will click and watch to the specific subject title, and will potentially stick around because there is now a connection to you. I know I don't actually know you, but to me you seem genuine, sweet and real. That's what will have them coming back! Onward young lady, to new and exciting things!

I come for the plants i stay for the beautiful personality. I can relate. I don't have a youtube channel.but i have allot of interests too.Other than plants. I cant seem to settle on one.lol
I am so proud of you Heather 👏 You are a warrior honey as are we all, and every warrior fights battle some the same, so similar and some completely different 🤗 What makes us grow are these battles, but when you are in the middle of a personal war it can feel hopeless, draining and exhausting. To get through these battles and win the war it takes time, self care, support and most of all re-evaluation of what causes us to feel weak, stressed an anxious. Doing this is yet another fight, but damm it girl what you are doing is giving you the strength to fight. Realising you need help and that things have to change is huge! You are so strong, more than you probably currently realise, but you are and the fact you chose to go public with your battle to help even one soul shows also amazing courage, take comfort in ppl like me who watch your channel for you (of course we came for the plants, but we stayed for you !!) Just know you have so many ppl out here in the social media suburbs, and i won't tell you to just brush off the trolls, bullies or insensitive twits because i know in a room filled with ppl who care and encourage, it always seems like the one being mean is always the loudest, sadly and this is because we have been conditioned to just 'brush it off' or 'deal with it quietly ' well FU(£ NO !! You, me and the rest of humanity do not deserve it and should not ignore it, as it will still cause pain...if someone chooses publicly to bully, harrass or cause you difficulty in your internal fight/journey, then call them out, these ppl are cowards and don't deserve the respect and care you show your subs, members etc...and you only deserve support, care and empathy and yes of course sometimes we all need to be held to account for a mistake or if someone has a differing opinion on a view or video content thats fine as long as its done with respect and in a adult and constructive manner!! Focus on what makes you happy! Hobbies should be enjoyable, and not feel like a chore. I go hard on things just like you described, and float between many hobbies depending on how I feel. Don't box yourself in. I like watching all types of videos and really enjoy following the creators, not just the content they put out.
I switched entirely to aquarium plants because of more potential for automation. I grow some pothos out the back of the tank but that is as far as my house plant keeping goes. The plants help filter and oxygenate the water so they give me joy in that way and because of that, I see them as more appealing.
I am the sammmmeee way girl! So impulsive. Also a makeup lover. Also started on CZcams doing makeup but that was too much for me at the time and with kids. I started doing macrame in the beginning of the year and I was hooked. Then I stopped lol. Also been overwhelmed with my plants lately. So many I just don’t want anymore but don’t wanna throw away. I think we would be great friends irl because we have so many of the same interests!!! Also met my husband online playing a computer game. 🤣🤣🤣
I think anything that is hobby and you turn it into a job can become stressful, I been collecting for more then 6yrs and for the first time I worked at a nursery last yr and it lower my love for plants but when i was done I was all about my plants again.
Yep was there last year. And several died. And I didn't care. The relationship with me and my plants comes and goes. I have given alot away. I don't do lights tents hydro and still was overwhelmed. Three years got my first one at my mothers funeral who didn't have plants. And i am turning the corner for sure. YOU are not alone! Go vlog. Take us shopping or take us to a coffee shop. You need to do what makes you happy on your channel because if it makes you feel stuck or unhappy. it shows on your videos and creates stress for you that is not worth it. Your subscribers are going to need to grow with you or their not here for the right reasons. I like the plant content but it doesn't need to be your only content. At the end of ths day it is your channel. I watch your videos because i do enjoy plant content and would still watch if you chose to do other videos because there is more facets to people's personalities than just plants.
