Strands 113 - NYT Word Search - 24 June 2024

It's yet another new daily word game from the New York Times! This time we've got to find a collection of thematically-related words, plus their "spangram" that describes the theme. I don't know if I'll be solving this every day but I'm giving it a shot for now at least. We'll see how it goes. Let me know how you like it!

I kept looking for PLAID. I could not convince myself that they wouldn't include that.

Yeah, several hints used today, even with getting the Spangram almost immediately. Never even heard of Gingham before

Worst yet, simply impossible for non natives. I found the spangram within seconds, managed to get the bottom part by brute-forcing argyle, but in the top I had to use 4 hints for tartan and gingham

I'm a bit confused by your comment. I'm not a native english speaker, but I knew all these patterns. In particular, Argyle is quite popular and in my language we use basically the same word phonetically. I thought it's like that in other languages as well.

I solved the Monday crossword faster than the Strands today! It was quite a tough Strands.

I have never heard the word tartan in my life. It is PLAID!

Luckily I found paisley first so that made it a little easier. I found patterns next. After that, I just had to remember the name of the prints.😂
