Uh, quite possibly, but sadly for his country; most people who do dumb things regarding politics do these things out of misguided patriotism; and the protestant rebel rulers of England (yeah, you can probably guess pretty accurately which side of this debate I'm on) were in fact a hostile terrorist government of their nation, though they were themselves acting in misguided patriotism on their own part.
Think for instance the tale that both sides of this conflict would well know: the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, the real monster is the serpent who is, or the fallen seraph who's possessing the snake to begin with, telling them a falsehood to get them to act up and make critical misdeeds so it can acquire their souls as a gangster or mafia leader would: through debt and gang favors. A concept that both sides would be very familiar with: pirate tactics of buying out shipping schedules to be able to rob freely at will- indeed, they referred to pirates as the servants of the devil, and rightly so, and witches were members of its gang, same with wizards. That's a brief summary of early N. American era colonization ideas on these things, his day and era of history.

    "Bonus Fact"
The "Guy Fawkes Night" left an etymological footprint on English language.
The burning of the dummies of Guy Fawkes, was referred to as "burning the Guy".
This lead to people referring to the dummy itself as "a Guy", and eventually, we refer any male character as "a guy" (as in "I saw three guys waiting at the bus stop").

@Joseph Wilson I wish they had laptops back when I was in High school, circa 1966. Hell I wish they had desktop computers, or even computers cheap enough that a common person could afford them. Ah well, we did learn long division, we had to study phonics, spelling, and memorize the multiplication table, of course that was all in grammar school, in High School we were confronted with Geometry Bookkeeping, Chemistry and the study of Government, business law and the problems of democracy. When still in the lower grades, we were confronted with long hand script writing, and it had to be good enough for the teachers to read, lest we fail our classwork and be held back in our grades, this was a horror that was threatened on a weekly basis to some of us. Indeed, we had a tough life, but back then the United States was rated number one in the world when it came to the results of standardized tests, today we fight to be on the list of the top 100 countries. Perhaps I should be thankful that computers were still something that took up large buildings to house and were less powerful then the wristwatch I wear on my wrist today. I used to wonder at the amazement of my father who grew up from 1910 till my birth in 1951, ah the things he saw invented, airplanes, electrical power to homes, the radio, the television, from horses to automobiles. from the first aircraft to the jets that left contrails over our farm.

Some things I always find weird about the Plot:
    - It was pretty nuts to begin with. It’s unlikely you’d revert the whole country to Catholicism just through killing 200 or so royals and lords. Even if the princess did just forgive you murdering her father and went along with whatever you said.
    - The fact that the space under the parliament building was just rented out privately to whoever wanted it. They didn’t think to change this until many years later.
    - The plotters knew parliament had been tipped off to a “terrible blow” and decided to carry on regardless. “They probably think it’s a joke…”
    - “John Johnson”. He must have crapped himself.
    - When the plotters realised Guy had been caught, they didn’t do the sensible thing of running like hell. They minced around for ages, still trying to start a rebellion, implicating other Catholics who didn’t want to get involved, straight-up lying and telling folk the king was dead. All while poor Guy was being racked, refusing to give up his friends who were messing up themselves.

@@ytubeanon Did you even pay attention to the fucking video or did you see the title and come to virtue signal? Parliament was not full of only male politicians (e.g. servants, politicians families, foreign ambassador etc... (granted many of them were corrupt but the same can be said for all empires) and even if it was the death and destruction would not be confined to the Parliament building.
