- 3 days solo in Waioeka Conservation Area on the Koranga Tawa Loop Track. I walk the few easy hours into Koranga Forks Hut, from where the route becomes more advanced the next day, travelling the river to Tawa Hut. From here I head off the main loop track to spend my second night at the historic Kahunui Hut. On the last day I backtrack out to complete the rest of the loop.
Beautiful scenery 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️
Thanks for watching!
As good a tramp as you would get anywhere in Aotearoa in the forests and rivers! Very good video photography too! I loved it, with you doing all the hard yakka! Thank you very much.
Glad you enjoyed it Peter. Thanks very much for watching.
Thank you. Lovely river scenery. I'm glad you weren't in the area during the cyclone!!! I tramped there in 1977 with my tramping club. Few memories other that the beauty of the river, the bird life including hearing kiwi at night, and crossing a very sketchy landslide way above the river. One irrelevant but astonishing discovery. My cousin Paddy and her husband worked on Koranga Station . As I wrote a note and popped it in their mailbox, I learned that our trip leader who I had known for years , was the cousin of Paddy's hubby! 😆
You've been everywhere Robin! I squeezed this trip in just before the cyclone and was glad I did. Thanks for sharing your memories. Wow, it's a small world. I was quite amazed at the scale and remoteness of the station. Thanks again for watching
Beautiful scenery, so peaceful.
Thanks for watching TJ!
Wow, so beautiful out there. Amazing scenery and wonderful adventure. Great video!
Thanks for watching!
Loving your content mate. You and zeb are the best tramping content on CZcams by far. Keep em coming 👍🤙
Hey thanks so much, really appreciate it! They're great guys, glad you're supporting both of them too. Cheers
Thanks for this video, looks like you had great weather. I'm doing the loop this weekend - did you find the track time estimates to be true?
Hey, are you the Ronna with the blog? Big fan if so!
I can't remember exact times. Only a few easy hours to Koranga Forks, I arrived comfortably for lunch at Tawa Hut, and might have been 2-3 hours ish to Kahunui. I think it would be a little less than the 4-5 DOC hours from Tawa out.
Be careful with the river section. I found some of the crossings quite respectable solo (a couple waist high) even in the weather I had. And pretty tiring fighting upstream the whole way. Gorgeous area though. Happy to answer anything else. Cheers
Yeah, that's me! Thanks for the heads up about some of the river sections. I'm hoping I get lucky enough to spot a whio or two.
I've been enjoying your blog for a while. You've had some interesting missions in the Urutawa! Enjoy, I was at Kotepato Hut just yesterday and saw three, so close to the farmland!
10:17 very interesting foot wear, not your usual tramping shoes
Hey Jack that's right. They're Bedrock hiking sandals. Great for trips like this in summer. But like all gear, it has its place depending on the trip. Cheers
Sigh! CZcams giveth and CZcams taketh away...
Thanks for stopping by again!
