Beebys Hut - Day Tramp in Mt Richmond Forest Park
A good day walk to Beeby's Hut in Mount Richmond Forest Park. I took the Beeby's Knob route and reached the hut after a couple of hours and about 800m elevation gain. After a quick lunch stop at the hut, I returned the same way as some weather closed in.

Wow, again what an epic blue-sky day. Amazing the birdsong around Flora, the people caring for it have done a great job trapping. It never ceases to amaze me, but perhaps except for trail runners, you’re the fastest-moving thing in the park, no one could keep up with you. That tablelands area and tussock are so different from bushwalking. Pretty. It was interesting seeing Ballon Hut, I’ve never gone past Salisbury. I think that Gordon's Pyramid track always starts in the cloud, but often clears, just as it did for you. This walk is also great to do in winter (tho Mt Arthur is tricky). You’re king of the world up there. I can’t believe after that day your brain even contemplated that 600m trip to Ellis Hut, you must have started the day at 6am or something. There is something different about that brain and your legs!! 😉 You did a great job converting your holiday into all these videos, this one made me particularly happy.

During this month long trip I filmed all the tramps in 1080p to save space but now regret not filming in 4k like I usually do. mate, epic video. Are those bedrocks on your feet? Watching your shots is like looking at my own feet. I live in my bedrock sandals and people always have something to say about them! I'd love to have a chat about your tramping expeditions, get an idea of where's good in your opinion. I'm a brit recently moved to Tauranga and looking for some great trails.

Thanks Jesse, interesting area. Beautifully rugged, such cool historic huts, have you moved to the south & why’s Zeb gone awol?

Cheers Dave! Looking forward to watching your big Richmond day tramp. Nah this was just a little tramping holiday down there. Zeb is currently traveling overseas so that's awesome

Only bush hut I know of that has a shower. Did you light the fire and have a hot shower?

I think it's a first for me too, although I've seen wetbacks before. It would've been great to do that but it was so hot, so a river swim was all I needed!

Choice video. What a magnificent taoka. Rotomairewhenua - I have never ever experienced such cold water to swim in

Thanks very much for watching. It's an incredible treasure, and I'd strongly encourage against swimming or even disturbing the water due to environmental and cultural reasons. Cheers
