Mikey is FREAKIN. AWESOME. I saw the thumbnail with Brian Bonsall i was like PLAY. And this isn't the first time I've mentioned this movie in a comment (or general) since about 1995😍
My mom took me to see Interview with the Vampire at the theatre, when I was 5, and it started my obsession with vampires and Anne Rice very early. I had bought and read all the Vampire Chronicles by the time I was 12. Not long after I finished the last book (The Vampire Armand), and was sad there were no more (at the time), I was watching the MTV awards and I can still remember Aaliyah coming on stage and announcing she was filming Queen of the Damned. I've never been so excited about a movie before or since.
I saw it as soon as it was out and I could see how off it was from the books. It was smooshed and rushed. I knew it was bad, even back then. But I was a 13 year old goth kid by that point, and they put all my favorite music in it. Its aesthetic was literally designed for the nu-metal/goth crowd--so I LOVED it, and it still holds a super special spot in my heart, right next to Dracula 2000.
It's nice seeing someone also bring up the good things about it, like the soundtrack, and especially Aaliyah's performance. This movie is a beautiful time capsule we buried in our back yards when we were kids, and we put all our favorite goofy things inside. It gives us that sweet nostalgia now that we're digging it up decades later and reminiscing over every awkward item. This is probably my favorite QotD review.
I love killer kid movies, The Bad Seed, The Good Son, etc. All these years later The Queen of the Damned soundtrack is still amazing.
Werner Brothers had almost considered after some test screenings to release QUEEN OF THE DAMNED directly to video. But after Aliyah's death the WB decided to morbidly seize upon the hype around her death and release the flick theatrically. It opened at Number One.
Robot Holocaust & Zombie Nightmare are two of my personal favorites.
I really like Queen Of The Damned Aaliyah performance as Queen Akasha especially was well done.
Her performance was the ONLY good thing about that movie!

Just watched Mikey for the first time. Surprised I've never seen it before. Creepy that the kid playing Mikey used to be on Family Ties. Watching the movie though, I couldn't help but feel that it was almost a remake of The Stepfather before the awful 2009 actual remake that we got. In both cases, you have a loving and sweet family member who doesn't like how his family is turning out. He snaps, kills the family, and then integrates himself into a new family, repeating the cycle.
I agree with you on Queen of the Damned 2 or 3 films but I don't mind it Great video as always 😊💜🐾👍👋

Queen of the damned would have been a lot better if they could have made the Lestat movie separately. Putting them together was stupid.
Fun fact: Marguerite Moreau went to my Junior High in 1990 when I lived in Bakersfield, CA at the time she was doing many guest spots on sitcoms like The Wonder Years; Blossom; Boy Meets World among other things and got lucky starring in The Mighty Ducks series of films. I can't say I've followed her career so closely but she's basically got steady work doing many episodic TV shows.
If the studio had spent the money to get Tom Cruise back, then Queen of the Damned would have been a great film.
Mikey is flawless, the MVD remaster BR is a must have. Queen OTD is great, love the soundtrack, but was too hard to mashup the 2nd and 3rd books into one film, and so takes way too much out to be a faithful, and veers too far away from Lestat's honest backstory. was a mistake to try that but it's watchable for various reasons..
The only good thing about the Queen of the Damned film is Aaliyah and the soundtrack. The rest is a disgrace to the source material and has Anne Rice rolling in her grave.

Man, there are few movies I genuinely loathe - ones where I went to the theater and was embarrassed that I had spent money on a ticket - but Queen of the Damned is one of them. Apart from Aaliyah looking great and the soundtrack, there are no other redeeming qualities. The disappointment I felt within the first 5 minutes still lingers with me to this day. The effects were awful and the lip-syncing made me want to throat punch Townsend and the director.
If you ever run over this kids bike by accident, call your attorney and get it settled.... Do not, I repeat DO NOT hastily write him a check and sign it without writing down the amount.... Him and his boss Mr. Macintosh will make you pay... Plus his limo driver can shut off the power to the whole sector from there... he just needs permission...

Feel like these kind of videos should be able to tell you what movies they are covering in the title or perhaps just be better edited, scripted and worked out so it doesn't take twenty three minutes to cover two entirely different movies that certainly don't scratch the "it's so bad that it's good" itch. These are two different videos that should've been posted seperately. Joblo has been just dumping out videos that feel so quickly and hastily made that I feel like they're just begging for views with these mystery box videos. Even the description for the video is fucking backwards since it starts with Mitch and then ends with Queen of the Damned, if I came upon this video for just Queen of The Damned then I'd be pissed they spent almost ten minutes talking about some Random movie about an evil kid. Ffs who runs this channel and how do I help them fix it since they don't know how to even title a video right or pace out a script. At this point Joblo vids are just click bait.
