You can't even imagine how big The Police were in the first half of the 80s (and '79, when this one came out). They were one of the biggest bands in the world, had hit after hit after hit and incredible albums, MTV videos etc. Just icons. And they called it quits while they were at the top. All 3 are very, very successful people, not only Sting. Andy & Stewart are icons unto themselves & have done so much. Steward Copeland is idolized by many of the drummers who came after him, did film scores, classical compositions etc. Andy Summers has always continued to play and has had many albums. One of the best bands ever.
Early Police, their first two studio albums and live performances were totally raw and energetic. Check out "Driven to Tears" from the new wave documentary "URGH! A Music War", and "Canary in a Coalmine" the ska influence is undeniable.

Hey you can't go wrong with the group Police, I love them, another great song, I send an s.o.s to the world, love it, woooooooo, the bow tie cracks me up, I could listen to this over and over, this is another great song, great choice, I love this, yeah, everyone samples from the police, they seem to have a good time doing the song, again another great song thank you, woooooooooo, p s message in a bottle came out in 1979.
Every Little Thing She Does is Magic is another great Police song, very upbeat.

It was released in September 1979 and hit the number 1 spot and remained there for 2 weeks. It was the band's first of 5 UK number 1 singles. Sting modelled himself on Bob Marley, and the band's music incorporated rock and reggae. Check out Walking On The Moon, Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, So Lonely, De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da, Can't Stand Losing You, Don't Stand So Close To Me, and Synchronicity II.
"Don't stand so close to me". A fantastic song and a pretty uncomfortable topic! At one of his concerts, Sting said that he hates writing boring love songs, so he always introduces some weird take, like a guy in love with a prostitute (Roxanne) or a stalker (Every breath you take).
Sting definitely has a great voice. You should check out his solo work. My favorite one is Fields Of Gold.
I also like the song he did with Bryan Addams & Rod Stewart it's called All For Love.
Check out a drummer any drummer playing this song Copeland is among the elite drummers around; can count and hold more rythyms than most. Great song.
