  • Jaywick was regarded as one of the most deprived areas in the UK and has struggled with high levels of crime and poverty. It is possible that it may still be considered a challenging place to live or visit.

Sorry to say but Hutleys is NOT in Jaywick. It’s in a village called St Osyth. That’s why it looks different to what you’ve seen about Jaywick - you’re in the wrong place 😂

Thank you for your comments I really appreciate your feedback.
Thumbnail on CZcams channel Jaywick and Hutley it was a real shame I experienced a bad response from the the people at Hutley, I went there in full intentions to say what a great place it was, but there was a few people there that was not pleasant at all to me, I could have actually put them on video, but I chose not to. I not a CZcams creator looking for trouble and the bad side of things like some CZcamsrs, if you check out all my other videos you will actually see.
I hope one day I can come back when there’s great people like yourself there and do a great video for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you for subscribing and I hope this hasn’t put you off watching my videos.
      Kind regards Neil

Partly the reason the houses are so cheap in Brooklands and Grasslands is because they can’t be mortgaged as they are timber framed. ie: non standard construction. It has a lot of landlord owned properties as a result, some of which have not invested money in their properties. A few people have retired there and have put effort in to their homes. It’s a bit of a mixture but rents are fairly cheap so you get a lot of renters who can’t afford to make improvements themselves.
Hutleys is not Jaywick but part of St Osyth (it’s also known as St Osyth beach) and is a caravan site that spans the area either side of the road. You also have Seawick caravan site next door which has more arcades. They have a pebble beach because it was recharged a few years back to help with the sea defences. Not sure why everyone is so miserable, they are not locals at Hutleys but holiday makers. In Brooklands it will be because they’ve had enough of people treating the place like a freak show and the constant channel 5 TV shows putting the place down and only focusing on the negative. They’re just people trying trying to live their lives. Not be some weird entertainment for a “look at the poors” day trip that from what I’ve heard they’ve had constantly since those shows aired.
Jaywick beach itself is more sandy and grass has been allowed to grow again to defend against erosion from the sea. The beach in the village area is more sandy as well. That’s another point that is often lost, Jaywick is made up of three parts, Brooklands/Grasslands area, the area called the village, and then Tudor estate.

I have fond memories of holidaying in a caravan at Hutleys when I was a child. There was no pool or pleasure park back then but I remember the Sailor boy and fish and chip shop. We loved our holiday at St. Osyths every year.

wow this brings back memories i fondly remember and i recognise clearly you are in the "St .Osyth" part of Jaywick, with the caravan parks, i know as i used to go to Jaywick alot back in the 80's as we had a chalet along the seafront although by the looks of it the beach is neglected and covered in grass now but i remember it hada really wide open beach qith clear lovely soft sand a really beautiful beach you could walk all the way along to Clacton a great way to spend the days and always busy with families holidaying there it had a very nice atmosphere, i'll never forget it.

People of Jaywick are protective of the area after many videos are made of the area, putting it down.
    Hence, the standoffish .
From Colchester myself so just down the road and people even a few miles away do little getaways there for the little kids as they mostly don't know any better.

I thought it was a really great place at Hutley and went there with full intentions to do the video on our great it was there. It was a great shame of the reaction of some of the people that I was there. If there’s only chatted to me and listen to what I was actually going to do instead of thinking the worst things could’ve been better. Maybe one day I could go back and give the place another chance, but make sure people know that I am actually going there to do some filming.

Hey mate I didn’t put a lot of things on video that happened that day, so I went to video the good side of Jaywick and Hutley, but was only a few minutes and had a load of abuse shouted at me and I was only filming the area with my phone, then in Hutley a gang of blokes was pushing each other about outside the arcade, then at the sea front a gang of young lads started shouting abuse and I wasn’t even filming, it was that bad my friend wouldn’t even step out of the car..
