    This was Paul's last solo album just before Linda died of breast cancer, so this song and quite a few others on this particular album always bring tears to my eyes. I can imagine he sang this directly to her.

      I bet you would say that a about Mozart, if you were alive then.
      Not everybody can see the real dimension of people and/or things, while living it. The Decca man was one of them. But not the only one...

    Daniel, I'm glad this got through for you. It's a beautiful tune. Great reaction, Guvnor. The "emptiness", "simplicity", which you said you love most in a Macca song is present here in, "Calico Skies", due to a power outage caused by a massive storm where Paul was staying on Long Island in '91. With no electricity, he picked up his acoustic guitar and wrote this song. It's not just a love song, though. Paul harkened back to his '60s musical roots and sensibilities, turning the track in its last verse into war protest song. I guess once a hippy, always a hippy. lol Great choice, Daniel Volk!

    • @danielvolk237
      @danielvolk237 Před 2 lety

      Yeah that is so true about the protest section, still love it though. The one song I like better is "I'm Carrying" from the London Town album. It is one of the few recorded songs that uses the "Gizmotron" that was invented by two members of 10cc. It was played on I'm Carrying. If you look up Gizmotron on wiki the song is listed. Lol. The tune just sounds like finger picking on an acoustic guitar only exaggerated. I will try to get Harri to sneak it in next month. It only has 184,000 views so I sit and wait. Lol. It is a song George Harrison said he really liked of Paul's. Rare for George to compliment a fellow Beatles. 😉👍

    Harri, PLEASE react to "LITTLE WILLOW" also from the "FLAMING PIE" album. WHEN I first heard it at my friend's house, I burst into tears and SOBBED for 20 minutes after the song was over, my friend did everything to try and console me, but I just fell apart. You see at that time I was going through a very devastating divorce which just destroyed me, after 24 years of marriage. The words to LITTLE WILLOW, just resonated with me and I felt like Paul was "putting his arms around me" and telling me that everything would be alright. Silly, I know, but he has always been my favorite Beatle since I was 17 in 1964. I found out later that it was written for Maureen Cox Starkey, Ringo's first wife and the mother of his 3 children. It was to comfort her children after she died too young, from Leukemia. But for me, it really touched me deep down in my soul which was hurting so bad then. To this day, it will still make me weep when I hear it, or even just think of it or talk about it, like now. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REACT to "LITTLE WILLOW" I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
