6 baby goats born in the middle of the night!

- Last night, sisters, Claire and Brooklyn both decided to have their kids within a couple hours of each other! It made for a very exciting night. Claire had two kids, (and one very tiny stillborn who didn’t develop past a couple months)  and not long after her sister Brooklyn had four babies! The ultrasound only saw three so we were pretty excited when the fourth popped out. When we finally slid the barn door closed, it was nearing three in the morning, but it always feels OK to be tired when you know the babies are out safe and sound and the mamas are doing well. Such an exciting time of year that it fuels any sleep deprived days.  The sister mamas were so sweet, they were very vocal before they kidded, and would only calm down if we sat in the stall with them. Goats are so connected to their people, and so trusting of us to do what’s right for them as domesticated livestock. We take that trust very seriously. Enjoy watching their first delicious moments on earth!
Claire’s kids are Bumble & Bee!
Brooklyn’s are Cracker Jack, Chicory, Chickpea & Chili pepper!

Just the sweetness the world needs. I am always amazed at how quickly they are able to stand and walk. So sweet how you had a hand on each laboring mama, your relationship is beautiful. All animals deserve such love and care.

Look at those little faces! And mama talking to them all the while. As someone who sat in the hay while in wait I can tell it felt good for you to close the barn door behind you with 2 in labor in one night. Shew ! What a mental workout for you I am sure. But to sleep with twice the smile and know that the barn is about to start bouncing off the foundation is very exciting and worth every second.
