Season 1 Episode 7 "Fidelity"
After returning from jogging with his best friend, Ed (Dominic Purcell) is uncharacteristically abused by his bedridden wife, Elise (Myndy Crist). House concludes that she either has Rabbit Fever from cooking rabbits or African Sleeping Sickness, which must have been sexually transmitted since neither of them has been to Africa. They both strongly deny having an affair so House starts treatment for Rabbit Fever. When this fails he successfully treats her for Sleeping Sickness. She confesses to an affair with her husband's best friend, causing her husband to leave her.

@@damistudi5923 That's how any good diagnostic person thinks. Maybe the scenarios and outcomes on the show are over the top, but making a list of all the facts, then finding the answer that matches with as many of them as possible, is a solid way to come up with the most likely answer. Basically if a problem can be explained with a single cause, or multiple, the single is most likely.
If you have 6 pieces of information and 4 possible causes for the problem, if 1 cause would explain all 6 pieces of information, then its the most likely problem. Next step, you come up with a way to test if you are right. If not you move down the list to the next most likely problem.
It's really just 3 steps. Gather information, make a list of possible causes that fit, do tests on the most likely causes. Repeat until you have solved the issue. Rarely though there are two or more problems, which can make the process a real nightmare, and you have to start over with the idea that maybe more than 1 problem is going on at the same time.
If you get really stuck, you can just try to attack the symptoms. Like in IT, if you really can't figure out the issue, and it has to do with a mouse not working, you could just give up and replace the mouse.

Same.. For me it's House and Scrubs. And supernatural too. I wish it was aired when I'm in high school, which I mightve pursued Medical profession. But since I'm already in the collage studying engineering at that time, and if I change course meaning that I need to pay back all the scholarship cost, made me stick to engineering.

How good is Oatmeal, though? I love it so much.
¼ Cup of Whole Oats, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of milled flax, 1 tablespoon of hemp hearts, 1 tablespoon of Chia Seeds, a few raisins, a bit of olive oil. Cook for five minutes, then add in two whisked eggs, incorporating slowly and cooking for two minutes. Take off the heat, add in some diced apple or blueberries, stir in some Milk or Almond Milk, enjoy with a glass of orange juice and a cup of coffee.
It'll take you through the whole day and all it's bullshit.

House only cares about patients in as much as they provide him with an interesting puzzle to solve. As soon as he's settled on a diagnostic he's certain of, the puzzle is solved and the patient slips out of his mind.
