Bezel: a female friend of mine (she's a psychologist) thought the bezel's purpose on my Rolex was for soothing one when turning it. Which is not completely out of discussion ;-)
I've had a SD 43 but also have a Panerai 723. By far have received more compliments with the Panerai and it's not even close, so I agree with your thoughts. Panerai watches are such statement pieces. Absolutely fantastic video.
couldnt agree more with you about Panerai - My wife was looking for her first proper watch and ended up getting PAM01248 and loves it on her dainty wrist - it is a watch like no other - an other on the polar opposite would be octo finisimo unlike any other. I love watches for the beauty of a watch not the hype - wear what i can relate to in that moment in time.
I've tried dozens of fragrances in my lifetime. The only one that gets compliments from everyone (men, women, young, old, colleagues, friends) is Chanel Allure Sport.
My theory on getting compliments on a Panerai is; they have no clue what it is and it looks manly, so easy one. Getting compliments on a well recognizable Rolex would be "yeah, that's what you bought it for"
I'd say, if you have an impressive watch / car, that matches other people's perception of you, that kinda helps. Overdoing it - is overdoing it an attracts golddiggers at best.
First she likes your watch, then your car, then your house and finally the big downfall, your bank account, my massive black Casio G Shock Mud-Master turns them off, HA HA !!!!!

In my experience white dials pull them in. Also Cartier.
