Jesse Alston No, I meant 1 ignition will have to be able to rotate the crankshaft 2 revs in a 4S, thus reducing the energy transferred to the wheels. The 2S will give that power every revolution. So, the 2S would be more powerful.

That's VRL variable rod length technology.... the rod is a shock absorber so it can't bend and applies a smoother power delivery. Absorbs detonation as well. Much fewer spun rod bearings. I was joking but now I might file a patent

But the correct term is "2 STROKE", not "2 cycle". One internal combustion engine CYCLE takes either 2 or 4 strokes, making both 2 cycle and 4 cycle the WRONG terms. Just because they're used interchangeably, and even though some 2 stroke oil bottles say "2 cycle", that does NOT make "2 cycle" the correct term. But for the case that I get it right but if they say 2 stroke have less weight but waist more gas than 4 stroke it means that 2 stroke equals with 4 stroke because carrying less weight and have more power than the 4 stroke but only has an emission problem. Am I correct?
The old 1 stroke engines were the best! Twice as powerful as a 2 stroke and 3 times more powerful than a 3 stroke. Ah good ol days. Had a twin cam 2 stroke for a while but sold that cause the alternator stopped working. :)

Okay so what I got from is that. 2-strokes arefaster and get more power going because it combusts every cycle(rather than everyothercycle) because it is intaking Fuel/air and releasing exhaust at the same time from the carburator (fuel mixture/crankcase + combustion chamber. =exhaust/fuel) Since it's so fast some of that fuel mixture dont get combusted/burned properly.
But the Japanese did put valves in place to further complicate matters for more power or poor old Yamaha to remove the power band and spread it across the rev range,The public are STUPID, In the hands of a motorcycle racer it would be appreciated but the public are dense,Lotus did something similar, The public want the Thrust the violent power suddenly coming on

I recently bought a new 2015 KTM 250sx and right of the bat it didn't sound right, it doesn't seem how a 2 stroke should be, I don't get the response I should in first or second gear and I hit my power band in like middle of third gear. It's like it bogs down in first and second gear I was just wondering if doing this will change it? I'm new to riding and don't know to much so any advice would help thanks!
Those new 250s by ktm dont run exactly like the older ones that 90% of people ride they ride kinda like a 4 stroke and a 2 stroke theyre weird but Id ask a mechanic

Not quite, the two stroke is about half the displacement if you're comparing power output. 4 strokes are generally more efficient and can be ran a bit more lean and at higher compression, so even at nearly double the engine size a 450 will use quite a bit less fuel than a 250 2 stroke.

Take for example the lubrication issue of 2 stroke engines, sure small chainsaw engines may have the oil mixed with the fuel but this is not a direct result of the engine being a 2 stroke, this is just a result of someone designing a very simple engine. look at any large Caterpillar, or Detroit 2 stroke they have conventional oil sumps, oil pumps and full pressure fed lubrication systems and they are 2 stroke! Also, the argument about valves of 4 strokes versus the reeds and ports of 2 strokes is also incorrect. Sure some simple 2 strokes may use very primitive systems to achieve the control of fuel/air mixture into the engine and exhaust out of the engine but again this is not a function of them being 2 stroke! Making up for the traditional flaws of 2 stroke compared to 4 stroke requires either premium (expensive) materials, higher tolerances (expensive), more complexity (expensive and heavy), the list goes on. I had a Honda CD175 AND my friend a RD125 and beat me till 50mph and the i would go past with his head on the tank to decrease air resistance to no avail I would leave him behind

Not true...4 strokes only ignite between the compression and power stroke(once per 2 full rotations of the crankshaft)

for 2 stroke there is part of the cycle where fuel intake and exhaust open together. This would result in waste and unburnt fuel goes to the exhaust.

Nope, the 4 cyl engine has a more balanced crank shaft.
They have 2 stroke engines that operate like 4 strokes as in the oil stays in the crank case. I believe they are direct injected and run on diesel.

no wonder why my 150cc 4 strokes had no chance against my friend's 150cc 2 strokes and 150cc 2 strokes can smoking 250cc 4 strokes in 500 metres. whoever said 2 strokes sucks, they definitely never feel it's power.
I had a Honda CD175 AND my friend a RD125 and beat me till 50mph and the i would go past with his head on the tank to decrease air resistance to no avail I would leave him behind

2 strokes are for dirt bikes and small tools like chain saws and trimmers. 4 strokes are for everything else

The advantage of two-stroke is less maintenance. There is no oil to change! The oil changes automatically as the engine runs!
