- The Lamu archipelago lies off Kenya's north-eastern coast and was one of the first landing and trading points in Africa for among others: The Portuguese, Chinese and Arabs.
It's old town is today a UNESCO world heritage sight, while the rest of the island boasts of scenic beaches, traditional dhows and ancient architecture rooted in centuries of rich history.
Today, as Lamu forges its place in the future, it has become home to the Lamu port currently undergoing construction. The port will play a key role in the economic growth of Kenya; connecting the interests of several countries in East Africa and becoming yet another highlight of the Belt & Road Initiative.

I was in Lamu last year and saw all these places. Good memories!!

man kenya needs to put money into the museums. so much history, such pathetic maintenance. the paint is peeling, the displays are shoddy, the lighting is wanting (flourescent bulbs?). lamu is beautiful though
Painting peeling off is fine if the building itself is a historical monument... But I aggree with you on the rest, I think we also need to instill professionalism and scientific sense into history of some of these things... i.e instead of just showcasing swords,knives, chairs, cutlery and telling stories, An archaeological team of scientists from UoN should visit sites like these and carbon date those things so that it can be scientifically proven that those discovery are as old as they claim to be .
This was interesting watch i know more now and cant wait to visit Lamu.Kenyan government needs to do more in the maintenance of the museums

We need to develop Lamu, Pate, and Manda island to become a grow place of opportunity just like Nairobi, and old town Mombasa and also Kenya needs to use Kenyan companies as well just to reduce debt to China, USA, and not go back to having debt to the Uk.
