- A trans woman has documented the physical changes in their face after eight months of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) - by taking a selfie every day.
Brendan McCann, 23, has photographed themself every day since they started HRT in August last year.
They decided to document their journey to give other trans people the "confidence to start HRT".
A timelapse of 266 images shows how Brendan's physical appearance noticeably changes over a period of eight months.
Brendan, a video journalist, originally from Plymouth, Devon, said: "The most rewarding part of my transition has been being able to share it with people and make a little piece of art out of it.
"I've done video production and timelapse photography for a while, so I've had a lot of fun putting these time lapses together and seeing people enjoy them.
"The main reason trans people share timelines of their changes with HRT online is that people who are considering starting often go looking to see 'what will it do to me? I want to find someone who looked like me when they started'.
"Many timelines don't start with a person who looks fairly masculine and still has a beard, so I felt it was important to have it start from the beginning.

The decision to shave the mustache gradually over the course of a week is peak
When I was in high school I would let my beard grow out and then shave half of my face and go to school like that for a day. It was always a big hit lmao.

Usually the hairs have to be shaved down beforehand

Transmen do not have the sex organs to penetrate and impregnate females like transwomen do (many transwomen keep their penises/testicles). Transwomen on estrogen are still stronger than the majority of females and many transwomen are stronger than ftms on testosterone (men are almost always stronger than females, even females on steroids). Biological females would rather share the bathroom with a burly female (ftm) than a biological male (transwomen). Most females do not want to be in vulnerable private spaces with males. i wish i did this when i started testosterone. i tried to keep up with the “this is my voice blank months on t” thing but skipped from 2 months to 8 months because i forgot… now im close to a year. looking back at my old photos i can definitely see the physical changes (chest is pretty much completely flat, deep voice, specks of facial hair, sharper features…) but they’ve happened so slow over time that it’s hard for me to grasp how big of a change it actually is. some of my friends are on estrogen and i don’t understand why people are against hrt. 1) gender dysphoria is a MEDICALLY RECOGNIZED disorder. hrt is a treatment for that disorder just like you’d go out and get antidepressants. 2) i have never seen my friends (or myself) happier than when they started hrt. it’s so fucking stupid that doing something that makes ME feel good, KEEPS ME ALIVE, and makes me feel right in my body is something that i have to fear for my LIFE over. people think they spread the gospel and then completely brush past the whole love thy neighbor thing, you could be battling war or poverty or hunger but instead you’re fighting love?? what?? if god hated my ass then i would’ve been taken out by now lol
also everyone saying 8 months is crazy… felt that way for me too!! when i hit 8 months, SO much more had changed than i originally thought. i’ve genuinely never felt better. hrt is life-changing AND lifesaving. i wouldn’t be here without it ^_^
