You were all very enthusiastic when I asked in the previous film at the EMA (see playlist "Tramway") if you wanted to see the city tour from a classic tram as well. Especially for you, Cabview Holland went back to record this ride from the GVB 586 from 1957. If you want to see Amsterdam in a completely different and unique way, then you should definitely do this tour, an absolute must! More info: www.museumtramlijn.org. Thanks to the enthusiastic employees of the EMA and GVB. Enjoy watching!

Interesting to see we passed Madame Toussad's at time 33:00. I wonder if they have a waxwork of the most famous train driver on NS in there?😀
@Dr Moriarty I think I'll be getting the kicking off Meester V for my comment!!! 😆
Often dream about that ;-)

US: We need 50 lane road
Dutch: We have this tiny road where half of the street is dedicated to Trams and Buses and the rest of it is shared between Car and Bikes but Cars has limits to 30 Km/h
The best part about it is because of both of those combos operating the way they do they actually carry more people per Km than the average us six lane stroad.
We do need 50 lane roads though…
They just need to be dedicated to public transit
This is how a city should function!
Perhaps most planned and beautiful, well disciplined and clean city in the world with easiest & safest commutation possible
One reason I like watching these is because of the urban design. Everything just makes...sense. The signs, the curbs to keep traffic away from tracks, the road being raised at stops so the ground is even for wheelchairs, the extra spacing so a following tram can wait behind another one without blocking everything, the signs and arrows and shark teeths that clearly show who has priority, the brick roads so cars drive slower, the speed humps also at intersections etc. etc etc. Love the Netherlands, not only because of that, but a lot because of that. GO NL!
Amsterdam invested alot to separate bikes from the carlanes the last decade.
Amsterdam is in love with bicycles, not cars, and they clearly see the value of public transportation that does not pollute the air. The city shows planning to benefit its residents.
@@arjanvanraaij8440 Yes, they did a great thing. I wonder of this would work out in a big city as well. Would people also be up to bicycle some distances?
@@luxembourger Its just depends on the infrastructure, make no room for cars people wil find the bike is the better solution. the latest development is fietssnelwegen translates like bikehighways wider bikelanes with less junctions, less contact with cars or other obstacels. to connect subburbs to city centers and to connect towns and citys. Often constucted on places were normal roads not allowed landscape protected, along dikes or on disused railroads. For longer trips electric assisted bikes and for more speed the speedpedelec, the electric assisted bike with an topspeed of 50Km/h needs a moped registration + moped driverslicense + moped insurance.
I guess they do have an advantage in being flat, but even so... Footpaths, cycle tracks, car lanes, and trams. It's just so incredibly sensible. In the UK cyclists are nearly always on the footpath, and in the US they're as often as not in the back of an ambulance! :D
Hats off to the tram driver. He's very alert to traffic at all times.
Amazing clean intelligent design - this is how a civilized city should look, feel, and work.
Look at how clean it is, nothing like america and canada
I have thought the same, neither the United States and Canada together are so beautiful, clean and safe.
I was fortunate to work in Holland and really miss that country and it's friendly people great video
Thanks
I'm korean but this video clip is very interesting. Many Dutches use bicycles. maybe, many dutches think the protection of environment.
One big reason is that the bicycle is faster alot of the time becouse the city is designed for bicycles. And here we design them for bicycled becouse it would be fully congested with cars otherwise 😀
I absolutely love Amsterdam. An incredibly beautiful city, I’ve been 3 times so far and each time I discover something new. I really appreciated this video.
Good lord I have never seen SO. MANY. BIKES. This was a really fun journey. I just got a 55" 4K TV and this was so amazing. Though I kept wanting to ring that bell because I felt like someone was gonna wander into the lane LOL. The bikes tho... blew my mind.
55" :-)
Beautifully filmed. Strange, but I saw 8 people I knew who lived in Tallinn, Estonia. I thought I was wrong, but 5 was confirmed. Thank you!!!
For sure??
@@CabviewHolland Yes !
Watching this tour of your beautiful city, three things really stood out. 1) How astonishingly clean and tidy your city looks. 2) How pedestrian and cyclist (and tourist) friendly it is. 3) The obvious thought and attention to detail that has gone into the layout and design. Fantastic. Could we please borrow your city planners (for my city Plymouth in the south-west UK) to come and help out with the total mess our planners have made here? Thank you for an amazing tour of your fabulous city.
I'll see if I have a spot left for you in my schedule. It's packed though as you can imagine.
Seriously though, the amount of people (plenty from the UK, but also the US and more exotic places) I see asking for Dutch designers to come and show how it's done under videos like this is astonishing, haha.
@Hello Nick, How are you doing?
The reason that Amsterdam is so wel disinged and maintained is that the Local government has a lot bigger butget than other sities in the Netherlands. The het huge amounts of money from tourists taxes. Wile the the national fond for local government doesn't take that in account. So the get paind ecually as outher cities wile also having rhat tourism money.
This looks like a fairytale neighborhood. And it is so clean! I wish that other places all over would get inspired by this beauty. Truly wonderful would love to live there myself.
Beautiful Netherlands 🇸🇷👍🇸🇷
It makes want to go back so much. Loved seeing the places I recognise and new parts I've never been to.
Oh Amsterdam!! One of the most beautiful cities I've ever been... I will see you soon again!
No it isnt. there are better cities in Holland that are nicer

All means of transportation sharing in one particular road, what a perfect urban planning! So its not only the water system management that's may serve as models and worth to be emulated by other governance in the world. I really admire this fantastic country!!! KUDOS AND CONGRATS NETHERLANDS!!! MORE POWER!!! 🇳🇱🇵🇭👍
Amsterdam is very beautiful on a rainy day 😍
Loved this ride along! A city I wish I could walk around! But to late in my life for it to come true. At least you made the next best thing happen for me. Thank You.
It's never too late, don't give up on what you want!
Mike Kinsey why do you say that mike? If you can afford the plain ticket you can be my guest and I will show you around. I’ve been walking these streets all my life and enjoy every minute of it. Happy to share the city with anyone!
I thank you for your kind offer kocahilmi ! But I am not able to travel at this time due to my wife's illness. I will just have to enjoy the city from the videos for now. Again thank you for the kind offer. Be well :-)

I like the tour through the depot at the beginning. A wet day often gives a different sort of perspective on things.
The driver no doubt appreciates that modern trams have remote point switching! An interesting view of the city.
Well, but up till now every driver is also trained in switching by hand, because that remote system can always fail - a steel rod will never
@@acmenipponair In the past winters when it was freezing they couldnt even switch it by hand and had to wait for the defrosters to start working, but sometimes those failed to resulting in traffic jams
The infrastructure is immaculate, the traction poles are spotless and painted well...
as a ex mokummer who moved to NZ 55 years ago I really enjoyed this, thanks for posting
Je moerstaal vergeten?
Amazing to see the streets of Amsterdam so quiet! Great footage!
Edit while viewing: I appreciate the streets sounds from outside the tram, these add a lot to the footage!
Thanks!
excellent transport, great Amsterdam
Allemaal bekende plekjes gezien.
How were the people.
Not even the best cities in America are as beautiful and clean as these. In addition, you can see the deep social equity in those streets.
"Deep social equity"? what is that?
@@troides547376 Social equity is the economic, legal, environmental, and developmental rights of access to the collective resources of society with an all-encompassing effort by means of equal say and insight of all members of society to ensure the longevity of the collective resources and to enrich the individual lives of community ...

What a beautiful city!
My mom learn me to always said hello to the driver so hello sir. 😊
Hello!
What a difference in the world since 2019. People seem happier then. The contrast in the cab ride videos I've seen since are telling.
We had the covid 'disaster'...
Fantastic drive.
Love Dutch architecture,
especially from the early 20th century in the beginning of the vid.
Thank you for posting !
WOW !!! HOW cool to see the city through the eyes of a tram driver.
I'm Dutch and most things are pretty well organised. We still have people though who don't want to follow the simple rules and therefore make a mess of it. Amsterdam is a beautiful city best visited really early in the morning during summer.
Thanks for sharing. This is a nice city tour in Amsterdam! 👍
Super! The best travel in Amsterdam from my sofa in Kharkiv.
because i could not spend my summer vacztion in the netherlands, i spend most of my free time watching these amazing videos. your channel is a relief to me . thanx 4 everything
Thanks
This was a marvelous video. I few as a Flight Attendant for 40 + years and Amsterdam was one of my favorite layovers!!! A beautiful city with friendly residents. This video brought back many wonderful memories!! Thank you!!
Thanks, nice!
What a beautiful city! Clear, clean, interesting! Wonderful transportation system. Beautiful every thing.
Just leave tourist part and not that clean and special any more
@@robinenbernhard Nestvervuiler!
Terrific video in how it illustrates the priority given to trams over less efficient vehicles and also the brisk operating practices. The latter are especially impressive given the number of tourists, many of whom will be unfamiliar with behaving around trams. Operators of lethargically operated newer systems, such as Edinburgh and Sydney, could learn many lessons.
Klasse Video !
I love Amsterdam! I remember taking this trolley back in 2004. Can't wait to return someday.
I was there between 2018-2019 for a week. Christmas and happy new year I guess. I enjoyed it so much, these trams are amazing, and I used to ride them just for fun also listening Hardstyle music. My week here it was best one ever. Amazing city, interesting amount of crowd at once, I felt shocked but I survived :D I hope to be here again in 2021 or somerhing, all alone and happy!
Thank you for taking us on such an enjoyable ride. Amsterdam is a beautiful city
@Hello Chris Bonger, How are you doing?
Dunno why i’m watching this at 5:30 AM but i liked it
Thanks Dutch railway , I always wanted to watch a tram driver view . Thank you so much 😊
Thanks, there are 3 more in the playlist 'tramway cab rides'
From Remise Havensrat to Remise Havenstrat, and the whole city,in between! And now on the 4th generation of articulates, beautiful! I had a book on Amsterdam trams, but it cut off in 80's,thank you getting my knowledge up to date! You've got a really well run city, and people have much to learn from the planning and operations! Thank you, again! 🚊🚇🚋
That was an absolute treat, Meester V. Thanks to all involved. 👍🏼
Absolutely fantastic
Safe, physically separated bike lanes. Multiple bike racks in front of every apartment building. Trams where the operator gets out to change the rail switches. Streets that are not completely given over to the car -- where you can just walk out of your home in the middle of a large city, and take public transportation. Give me a minute to process all this.
:-)
An absolutely wonderful trip through a fabulous city. Thank you.
Very beautiful architecture in Amsterdam! And what a huge city! I was surprised that you need to do some manual switching.....
I visited Amsterdam with my family when I was 11. This brought back a lot of memories.
FANTASTIC !!! A very different view of the city. Not the common tourist view. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Paraguay.
Oh my God,love this place,Holland, need to be back. Marcelo Fortaleza Brasil
Pozdrawiam z Polski!
i love amsterdam so much! best place in the world. used to live in amstelveen and got to belmijr arena every day for work.
Wow, wonderful impressions of city life ... pure life of Amsterdam
Thanks. Just made a fresh Amsterdam City Tour, do not miss it!
The best urban planning & design in a nutshell
Love the sound of the bell, it reminds me of being very little in Chicago (when we had electric streetcars), and of San Francisco (being on vacation) and riding the cable cars. Such a nice (cheery)sound to me. I hope to see Holland some day.
Me too, but then as a Dutchie living close to Amsterdam and riding exactly these trams to my grandparents as a kid. Summers were always better as the driver would not have a jacket hung up behind him in the driver seat, so you would have a good view on all the controls and what he was doing. Still wish the Combino's (and the new 15G trams) had a real mechanical bell instead of that awkward and annoying electronic bell.
The nice city, bikes are not stolen or no trash on the streets. Love the tour.
Groeten uit stad Sao Paulo, Brazilië!
Mooie stad, veel bomen, mooie video, gefeliciteerd! ! !
That was excellent - thanks for posting the video.
A fascinating tour of a wonderful city. What a terrific tram system. Many thanks for sharing.
A wonderful tour of Amsterdam city. I have been to the square in May so I know the feel of the place. Tram rides can be just as fun as train rides.
Beautiful city, thanks for sharing the trip!
Wonderfull Amsterdam ! So nice! Greetings from Lübeck (Germany)
I love these sort of videos. It’s also interesting to see how far away from the rails the drivers cab swings out as the tram goes around a corner
:-)
Loved every second of this video 💖
Thanks from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Thank you!

Was here 2 weeks after this was filmed. Love this city. My home away from home
Amazing tour. Clean city with rainy weather. Getting knowledge. Beautiful lifestyle simple but nice people. I love it.
great cab view video bro
i LOVE amsterdam!
i wish i lived there!
@Aryan Ramanand wtf you mean by the air is not clean
Een heel mooi stad
Good video on the tram, the route, the city mixed traffic system. Also the people and places, imagining myself moving through the city, when I am holed up at home in this Covid lockdown.
Hang on, great to hear my channel helps :-)
I love the Netherlands!
I love Amsterdam so much, I'd live there if only I could afford too, I get excited just to shop in Albert Heijn's
I understand what you feel 😏
Awesome video! I love Amsterdam as a city and the city's tram network is to be admired. Watching this has made me realise how much I've missed visiting.
So clean, no dirt on the roads...
Ótimo passeio! Valeu o Tour! (Brasil).
Great video! Subscribed!
Thanks and welcome!
Nice tour!
A splendid video. It was very nice to see Amsterdam again. Thank you so much.
I think I need to add Amsterdam to my short list of cities to visit.
@Hello kiqw, How are you doing?
Wie schön ist denn diese Gegend, herrlich. Liebe Grüße aus Deutscgland = Berlin.
That was such FUN! I lived in Amsterdam for 10 years, in the 70s. It was wonderful to see familiar places again. And to see all the changes. Especially the cars and trams!
I think exactly the same but I was just come in A'dam something like 20 times in the last 10 years so I can't imagine how do you feel when you watch it now. ^^
Lovely city - lovely tramways! It makes me feel Very Old, to think that, on my first visit, the grey trams were NEW! The modern white and blue trams look very much brighter.
Best infrastructure in the world
Tijd voor meer trams, prachtige video!
Nouw.. Vandaag waren we bij... Ach, gewoon ons hier blijven volgen. :-)
A very relaxing and pleasant trip. I was intrigued to notice how much English is used on the shops and signs. It really has become so worldly..
The English language is a whore, used everywhere in the world.
