  • In this golf lesson Adam Porzak helps Matt from Boston get his arms unstuck from behind his body on the downswing. Grab 3 Free Videos To Gain Distance Now - bit.ly/PorzakFreeVids
    In this lesson in beautiful San Diego, Porzak Golf helps Matt with his golf downswing sequence giving him some downswing drills to get his arms back in front of his body, making sure the right elbow in the downing is not behind the center of his chest. The golf downswing hand path needs to stay connected to the center of the golfers body, the downswing sequence is really set up by having the correct backswing. Try out these backswing drills and get the downswing sequence correct, and your hand path will get better and getting you hitting it straighter and farther.

    I’ve taken so many golf lessons where the focus is on my backswing and/or downswing. Where my position should be so I’m trying to get to a particular position. However, my brain tells me I should be able to naturally get in correct position by doing something correct earlier in the swing. So consequently, I chase the inconsistent swing feels that constantly made me second guess which swing I should try shot by shot. With your videos I’ve started to work hard to take all the variables out at each step of my swing because I now understand them better. To your excellent point, I’m not focusing on getting my hands moving in correct sequence in downswing if they weren’t t positioned correctly in the first place!

    Really enjoying the content from here in the UK!
    I wonder if you have a link to a video in regard to the shaft being in line with the trail forearm during the backswing please. Would like to know what to look for in my practice sessions! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏌️‍♂️

    Love the content Adam, please let me know if you ever make it to Orlando! Any chance you could do a video on the release? I seem to struggle with holding onto angles too long on the downswing and it seems like there are different philosophies on the “release”

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Benjamin, this is Gabe. Actually Adam focuses more on the set up, backswing and transition, he allows people to have different release patterns dependent on many factors. If you do the set up, backswing and transition correctly it will naturally get you to the right release and finish. Adam actually doesn't focus much on post impact. Hope that helps a little.

      @@PorzakGolf Yep, 100% makes sense. Wonder if there’s a release pattern that he prefers from a consistency perspective? I’ve been toying with putting the right wrist more in flexion when going thru the impact zone, the slap method that Malaska promotes and it seems to have helped a bit with the right miss. Would love to to setup a lesson with you guys if y’all are ever in Orlando and have you out for a round at Bay Hill.

    Great video, Adam! Thanks! I'm probably even taller than Matt. 6'9". My biggest problem is getting my right elbow stuck behind me. My upper body , like Matt's, get way in front of the ball at impact and I hit hosel rockets and low & left all day long.

    Great teaching. Matt came to you with the same issues I have. My arms get stuck behind me in the downswing and it is exaggerated by the fact that my shoulders and entire body are moving to far forward in the downswing. I wish I was closer to you...

    I've been flipping and early extending forever. I've watched every video on YT and put a lot of time and effort into and still can't seem to get the hands forward at impact.

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Cody, what you see these players do to get into these positions is sometimes over 10 years of consistent practice with a good coach. These positions are simple but doesn't mean it comes easy without lots of work. I think having a specific coach you are committed to, to holding you accountable to doing the right things consistently and can demonstrate it themselves over a long period of time will get you there. I hope Porzak golf can help you! - Gabe

      My suggestion would be starting with half swings and focusing on exaggerating that shaft lean thru the ball just to get the feel. As you start making better, compressed strikes, you can start making fuller swings. That’s helped me.

    Hey Adam. Matt is overactive with his lower body on takeaway which is causing the club to track too inside and causing a flat shoulder plane. I've watched your other videos talking about this common problem with many golfers me included. Enjoy your videos! Thanks

    When u talk about “...speeding up the hands...” are we really talking about speeding up the arms?? Does speeding up the hands lead to a flip??

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Neil, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. This is Gabe and as I have filmed every lesson, Adam talks a lot about speeding up the hands, and the hands pull the arms. Not speeding up the rotation of the hands, but the hands staying in the center of the body on the way down. If the hands go too slow, they will get too far behind and trapped and be caused to flip to catch up. I hope that helps some.

    Adam, I like your videos. However, you took a lot of stuff from the Jimmy Ballard Golf Connection and you don't acknowledge him. The whole bit about the Connection, Loading and firing the right side, which you talk about a lot is never acknowledged in your videos. I think you would be only greater if you acknowledged people who influenced your teaching.
