I was reading that the Spurs weren't interested in Young. I'd honestly take Murray instead of Trae. He knows the system, he trust Pop and he isn't a liability on defense.
Dejounte had a 119.4 defensive rating to Trae Youngs 121.5, but sure, keep believing you're getting more value and there's some huge dramatic drop off between their efforts on the defensive end...

that know more than I do have said the same. I look at how much a difference in points per game (Trae) 25.7 ppg as to 22.5 ppg. (Murray) Difference of 3.2 ppg. Assists (Trae) 10.8 to (Murray) 6.4 Difference of 4.4. Steals (Murray) 1.4 to (Trae) 1.3. Rebounds (Murray) 5.3 to (Trae) 2.8. When it all adds up…is the difference worth the salary. Is it worth keeping Trae at $43,031,940 to Murray’s $25,265,280. I see a taller longer point guard that was an All Star under Pop and could contribute almost as much in some stat categories and more in other categories. I also see a savings of $20,766,660. I also see another veteran player that the Spurs can get with that savings.

The Spurs trade speculation is crazy no way will the Spurs give both 1st round picks this year, 1st in 2027 and three players to get Trae and his salary. I could see one of their 1st round picks this year and 1 of their 3 first round picks in 2025 Plus Johnson and Wesley.

Cavs: Brandon Ingram
Hawks get "coveted" Herb Jones and Levert's expiring.
Pels get rim protector next to Zion and PG of the future on a team friendly-deal.
Cavs: End the weird Mobley, Allen duo before Allen is an expiring and make a move for an all-star forward.

Every action has an influence on team defense, either having to shade more defenders towards Traes man, to also possibly needing to double Traes matchup. This means as a defense you are at the will of your opponent vs you dictating where your opponent can go. Additionally, every Brian Wright draft pick has been taller than 6'5". They have publicly exclaimed that do not like smaller guards or defensive negative players. They will not trade for Trae, period.

Doesn't the $15.4m for the two 2024 draft picks count against the Hawks cap? In that case, they will still be way over the cap.
The Hawks will have six player guaranteed in 2025/26 making almost the cap. If the Hawks don't think they can afford Jalen Johnson's raise next year, it would be nice to see him with the Spurs. Wonder what that would cost them.

Herb is going no where with his salary & shooting percentage. Murray & Okungua for BI, Dyson, Nance & 2 1st will be perfect & fill the 2 biggest need. Now how do you start Trey, after extending him, & convince CJ to be the 6th man to save him for the long run & part time starter when injuries happen.

Trae Young to Spurs is NOT happening. Young is a defensive cone. I saw a video where he gave up on a play. Pop would go bananas. A few years ago, Smamanic on his second year of his rookie contract gave up on a play with Anthony Cole. Literally, the next morning the Spurs released him eating his rookie contract.

Correct. A deal hasn't happened between the two teams because the Spurs value Trae much less than Atlanta does, and thus the two teams are far apart on price.
