Also, if you look at the defensive stats trend specifically of the steals n blocks category, whoever was the lead stats of the previous yr, the likelihood of them getting the same lvl of “leading stats” in those categories for the 2nd consecutive yr is practically nonexistent in the history of NBA, unless ur bron on steroids

It's wild to me that ATL cannot seem to build a successful franchise. It's a major city with lots of partying to offer, relatively low taxes, and a great hoops culture. Getting a star shouldn't be hard. The place is ripe for a great NBA team yet it comes across as a small market team.
Bad timing and nba landscape I feel has alot to do with it atls had alot of solid teams over the years they just fell victim to the LeBron Era and have always been one of those middle of the pack teams never securing a high enough draft position to get a true superstar player

This is kinda off topic but is anyone else besides me annoyed by the CONSTANT jersey/unfirom changes? Has it always been this way? To me, each team should have its own identity and be limited to two different uniforms. And then maybe occasional changes for special games like the NFL does. A lot of times, I have to guess or read the names on the jerseys or look at the score labels just to figure out which two teams are playing which is sad! In the past, I knew immediately by the team colors. They also do these non-stop changes with the court paint designs! Why?! Can we go back to teams having their own identities where fans can immediately recognize who is playing and feel proud wearing their team colors? The NBA has made team colors not special which was a really dumb decision.

Any team with a 6ft 185 pound gaurd is gonna have a hard time defending most guards now are 6”6. Defense is something most people don’t consider when saying someone is a superstar instead of a scorer.

Murray has been asked to guard a lot of wings in Atlanta opposed to guards is why his defense hasn't been as good he's has his best offensives season next to trae as everything is up trae has play great as well. They need more defense on this team. Surround those two with great defenders they'll be fine. If they had did what the Knicks did and made that trade for og this team would looked a lot different obvi barring the injures to trae and bey

The thing is unless you put him behind a really really good defense, you are toasted with him. San Antonio do have some guys there that can play some defense but this dude needs Timberwolves level defender behind him. The other thing is, depends also what you have to trade for him to get him. I would say that only Wemby and Vasell are untouchable, so...well see. San Antonio can get the defense around him and Wemby for sure, but if you make are bad mistake you are doomed
Luka's team and Trae's team are somewhat similar, it's funny. For Trae and dejounte to work they need to play more like Luka and Kyrie, taking turns leading the offense and willing to be a spot up shooter from time to time. The hawks trading away John collins for Rudy Gay(who retired never playing a single game for the Hawks) and a 2nd round pick was a really bad move cause the Hawks currently don't have any athletic bigs for Trae and Dejounte to pass/lob to besides Capela and he's getting old.
It's stupid that the Hawks have 2 guards that averaged 10+ assists in a season and they're not running a p&r style offense. The hawks are instead running a 4 out 1 in, 3pt centric style. Which works when you've got ONE dominant point guard, but it doesn't work when you have 2. (That's why the Hawks are doing good right now with only Dejounte)
The problem is they are the worst def back court in the NBA . That why they drafted Bupkin in the 1st round for his defense. And they tried trading Murray at the trade deadline
Trae has only one season with a winning record. Trae still has a losing record with hawks overall. Hawks head office tried to fleece the fans into believing this guys is a first option after the blunder with luka.
30 and 10 is a first option on almost every team in the league, tell me what trae could do better? He’s grown as a defender and shot well this season

3. Hawks are 2 games over 500. With just Murray all time so it’s clearly a roster construction issue

Hawks with Murray as their leader are above 500. Before Trae was injured hawks were below 500. Trae is literally a stat padder his numbers does not relate to wins.

You can’t win with trae as your number one because he’s to small, he’s a bad defender, and he’s not an efficient scorer. He should be mainly a facilitator and a number 2 that’s why I say hawks fleeced the fans trying to make him into something he isn’t after the luka trade.

I think it’s kinda stupid that they traded John Collin’s for nothing in return, a very old Rudy Gay that they waived and a pick and I’m sure some cash considerations, but as far as an actual player for a team with championship expectations, not a smart move at all, with that kind of move u either gotta go all in on a rebuild or trade for a decent big that has a similar skill level and skill set as Collins, always thought that made the difference in play last year in comparison to this year.
I mean i don't think its a random coincidence that before al star break we was 30th in defense. 130ppg given up. Since then weve came up to the 13th ranked def. And only giving up around 110 ppg which i don't think people get how HUGE of a jump that is. And basically been the whole time dejonate taking the superstar role. While trae recovering from his hand murray Has multiple triple doubles in this span , dropped 40 twice in a week .

And it's weird cuz I remember a specific interview where Trey was talking about in high school when his coach got mad at him and took him at a point guard for a game and he was like I didn't know what to do so I just stood in the corner of the whole game that makes perfect sense he kind of feels like he's getting his point guard take not not like his full position taken away but he's like you know he thinks he should be bringing it up at all times and then deshante should be the one getting better off Ball but really Trey needs to develop those skills kind of like Curry did you know being able to come off those screens off ball and not just have to create your own shot he would be so much more dynamic

The reason the Hawks drafted PG Kobe Bupkin is his defense ability. That is why we are trying to trade Young or Murray because they depulicate player who don't work together on the floor. The Hawks played better with Kobe as the back up.

I agree but if you’re a fan of the NBA, you know who’s who anyway. I’d rather go back to a time when they didn’t focus on offense only and when teams like the 04 Pistons hung their hat on defense. The game is pretty dang soft IMO…I really enjoyed watching the grind of the early 2000’s ear of basketball and they need to do something before the NBA ratings get even worse than they already are.

trae's salary as a one-way player is something i'd avoid like the plague. i'd much rather have a way cheaper guard who can defend at a B or better level, and maybe scores 14 points a game with 3-4 assists than just pure offensive volume with no defense and 20+ more mil to not spend on depth
You should have researched more. Yeah overall on the season def is bottom five. But the 24 games since all star break were giving up 20+ ppg less and were almost a top 10 def since all star break where as the 40 something games before we was giving up 132 ppg. Thats pathetic. But its not like its all better def because traes not out ther i think trae and dj still struggle playing TOGETHER. Most times when ones bringing ball up. Other stands in a corner .
Trae needs to do like Curry good. Start developing off ball moves to get open. Run his fast lil ass off some big ass capella pin down screens. The Atlanta Hawks made the wrong decision. If they haven’t done that trade or if they kept Luka, we could’ve see Luka in a Hawks jersey, they failed to win a championship in 2019, and his consistent flopping is just a meme now. They went through 3 head coaches just because they couldn’t get along for him and his constant winning and complaining like a pestilent child is just a Parity (paradoy). Atlanta deserves better, they deserve a better team, and they gotta trade or get rid of Trea Young. If they kept Luka they would have a way way better team than this pile of shit that they have now.
