I ride the same bike only it's an 04 with 6600 miles on it. Not as much chrome and polish, and soft bags, but looks like new. He's right, that 88in motor is bullet proof. I like mine.
Here I am 3 yrs tardy on a comment. I'm like a child that wanders in the middle of a movie, & wants to know whats going on 😆. Ehem. I LOVE your guys' channel! I have a 2000 FXDL. I have 56,520 ish. I opened up my cam chest last year to see if there was any carnage. I was truly shocked! Very, very little wear. I installed new tensioners since I was in there anyway. This bike has never seen a burnout pit. Never stripped down, & shot with rattle can flat black garbage paint. I mean, besides the previous owner gutting the stock pipes, it is bone stock! I think I'd like a 2 into 1 header, a set of S&S easy start cams, & a set of mag rims for her. I Am keeping all of my stock parts however. Thank You Guys! This whole "Old School" term, the kids like to throw around these days, is their idea of how things were in a time they didn't live in, learned on TV. I know this isn't a forum for me to write a full editorial in, so I'll try to keep it brief. You don't take a beautiful, expensive machine like these, hit the bar burn out pits, red line 'em like they're a GSXR, never wash 'em, let 'em set outdoors in the weather, then lie to your mechanic about how pristine you take care of your machine. We Know the truth. Your channel makes the hair stand up on my arms, like songs'll do to ya sometimes. Beautiful bikes. Top-of-the-line riders. Awesome Enthusiasm. I just dig the hell out of you dudes. Friggen spot on no BS motorcyclists. One day, I hope I can come see the shop. Thanks! 🤘
I have that colour from 10/98. Twin disc with the paper labels still inside the fenders. It's not for sale. If it's what you need in your life, make it happen.
Ken Kaplan looks like he was teleported thru a time machine from a 1970 Southern Calif HELL'S ANGEL movie BEFORE Easy Rider and it became cool to ride a HD.
@@stevejohnson7165 the cam tensioner issue is the main one you’ll have to have looked at. They can break apart as early at 20,000 miles so if you haven’t had them looked at , you probably want to soon. If they break apart enough the bits of plastic can get into the engine and literally destroy much of it. If your bike has had them replaced or the whole tensioner system replaced you’re fine. I’m pulling mine apart next month (2002 Low Rider with 15,000 miles on it) and have to put aside at least a thousand dollars for it.

depends. How is the Stator? New? They can go especially in hot conditions. Have the cam tensioner shoes been replaced or at least looked at?
@@shizuokaBLUES I see. I checked with the local dealer and for $1,100 they will put a new tire on the rear and do a full service on the bike.
