  • Unboxing, setup and review of the new Strapcode Super Jubilee bracelet for the new SEIKO 5 Sports SRPD-Series.
    Even though the clasp isn't that impressive, I like this jubilee bracelet that tapers from 22mm to 18mm because it gives the watch a more refined look. What do you think?

    Eh.. eventually I took the plunge and ordered the Strapcode Jubilee for my new Sports5 watch. I am "quite" happy but do not consider Strapcode a very good company because they simply send an SKX bracelet (don't even bother to remove the useless FAT straight spring bars) and simply include a pair of curved spring bars (to fit the S5) which, being THIN, cause a noticeable play in the end links (to which I see no solution). A serious company would have redesigned the end links. Their sale page for the Seiko5 Jubilee is also misleading because they say 'This item includes one pair of "Special curved" FAT spring bar' which is not true, since they are not FAT. Also - like you - I got some play in the safety clip on the clasp and additionally, my clasp does not always close by simply pushing down, I need to press the two buttons to close it. Finally :) I am not satisfied about how secure is the watch now, since using curved spring bars on a watch with straight holes makes them go in at an angle, which is not 100% reliable.

    Strapcode bracelets are the first purchase I make after purchasing a new Seiko. Despite the perceived sound of the locking clasp the clasp is one of the most secure you can ask for. The one recommendation I can make is to "lock-tite" or dab a bit of nail polish on the threads of the screws when you add/remove links. I've had a screw back out on one of my many bracelets.

    I like the look of the Strapcode well enough but 1) I actually prefer the OEM mesh that comes with some other 5KX models, 2) the cost of the bracelet is too high, IMO, relative to the very low cost of the watch, and 3) Strapcode is overhyped. Quality is only so-so IME based on twp bracelets purchased for Sieko Turtles.

    I prefer the Angus J- Louis for this watch, mostly because it has a female end link design that fits smaller wrists better and looks more premium. If I were to fault Strapcode or suggest where they can best improve it would be the endlinks and making sure their brushing matches the cases their straps are made for. Good product but def room for improvement or a 2 tier business model entry level and premium.

    Helpful review since I have the same watch and want to buy the same bracelet. However at Strapcode's checkout I didn't proceed because: strap $69.99 + shipping $25 (no mail available, only Fedex) plus a mysterious $25 "tax" (WTF?) , total $118 (!!). On top of that - since I too live in EU - I might be looking at additional VAT + duties, making the total cost close to the price of the watch itself, which is ludicrous. I would be very interested to know how long it took from HK to Germany and if Fedex charged any extra for customs? Thanks!

      With „tax“ they probably address the import duties, since I didn’t have to pay any additional duties (as a result I didn’t have to pay anything to FedEx). The shipping with FedEx was fast as lightning and only took 5 or 6 days. Even though the price is quite high with all the added costs, I was quiet happy with the buying experience.

How come one of your end links has next to no play but the other has some play? is this because of a slight difference in the curved spring bars you installed?

    I will never trust strapcode straps again, for the money you pay, you expect premium bracelets. I have an skx013 bracelet from them, the endlink is too long for the lugs and protrudes out. They did not get a prototype made to test it seems and just went to production from a cad model.

    Hello,
    Can we use super jubilee bracelet for Seiko 5 sports suite watch SRPD73
    Please reply..
    Thank you

    • @watchyouwant1617
      @watchyouwant1617  Před 4 lety +1

      @Sumit Mahadik: with the curved spring bars (that are necessary) it should fit on the SRPD73 like it fits on all SRPD Seiko 5s.

  • @wb3213
    @wb3213 Před 3 lety

    So the bracelet is for an skx but it will fit the srpd using the curved pins?

      I don’t have the watch anymore but as far as I remember it fitted with the also supplied straight spring bars.

      Probably not. It depends on the design of the lugs. As mentioned it can be used with the SKX007.

      @Francesco B: haven’t tried it personally but this is what they say on the Strapcode website. And I think that all SRPD-series cases have the same dimensions, so I’m pretty confident that it should fit to all new SRPD-series Seiko 5s. Best regards

    How do you swap this bracelet out? Can anyone point me to a video guide or something haha. Trying to remove the original bracelet. Because i have this exact model watch but i dont see anything at the bracelet ends to even grip onto with my tool. (watch noob here)

    • @watchyouwant1617
      @watchyouwant1617  Před 2 lety +1

      You have to make sure, that you‘ll grab the „sleeve“ of the spring bar with your tool and push it away from the lug in order to get it out. You’ll have to use a good amount of force to do so
